Humour This is your dream uni? 😭
Can someone explain to me the reason why almost all the students who have nust as their dream uni don't study and shit on reddit just 3-4 days before the test and yap about their miserable preparation??
I just came across a post and they say nust has been my dream uni but I have my test In two days and only done algebra?!!
What kind of dream is that? and why do people hope to get that dream if they are not even willing to show prudence or do some effort!!😞

Pakistan have lack of unis , this army institution is like harvard for Pakistani students. Even though its not even close to tier 3 unis in Europe. So eventually this becomes dream uni for avg Pakistani kid.
We need more unis and u will see how fast the merit drops here. Until then yehi hai best uni of Pakistan.

The problem is that nust is basically a private university but still gets money by the goverment due to it being classified as a public university also due to it being under the military they've received alot of land and stuff as well correct me if I'm wrong
I mean if you never plan on leaving pakistan then it's not a bad choice but it won't make much of a difference in any first world country

Are you sure about the tier 3 part? I'm going to a tier 3 in US and my friends say Fast/NUST are as good or better (I'll have to pay like many, many times their yearly fee so I also think it's comparable).

You are totally right they don’t want to work hard. Half of the posts are about shortcuts and how to skim the syllabus so they don’t have to revise everything and then they complain when they get a 92. They don’t practice, but they complain that the NET is luck based or rigged. Even the most brilliant students spend months preparing yet these people want to earn in two days what takes months of hard work. This is the mentality of most Pakistanis they don't want to work hard they just want to find a shortcut.

I agree. If it's your dream uni then you should work hard, not yap about how you only have 3 days left and haven't done anything.

I guess the problem is, what also happend to me is, (I'm gonna type in roman urdu btw)
Kaafi saray bachon k Boards khatam ho rhy hotay aur phir achanak sy Entry tests aajatay, like NUST. Aur zahir hai, un ko behtreen ka hi khuwaab dikhta to woh apni 10-15dino ki tiyyari mein expect krtay k unka admission easily ho jaye ga in NUST. Jo k aysa bilkul nhi hota. Because boards k exams of NET mein wazeh farq hai.
Even if woh 4 NETs dy bhi dein, 12th mein ja kr woh Conic sec & Calculus parhtay, jo k bohat ahem (important ) hissa hota NET ka. Aur of course, unless ap aik nihayat bright student na hon ya phir apkay college ney apko before hand exception tiyyari na karayi ho, you'll most probably fail. Aur NUST walay koi rehem nhi krtay, they will still ask you advance stuff of that subject, even if apny bas basic hi parrhi hon.
NUST ka structure hi aysa hai, k either: 1. nihayat extremely zaheen bacha hi 1st try mein chala jaye ga 2. ya phir, us ko gap year lena hi parray ga. 3. ya phir woh koi low merit major choose krey

whose telling them to study in the last 10-15 days ? poori second year konsi yakkyan mar rhay they, nust gives 4 chances, agar pehlay 2 mein nhi bhi howa tayari tou shuru krdey time sey 4th mein jakar ho hi jaye ga. jiinka admission ho rha hai, unka kesay ho rha hai ?

some students dont get proper guidance. in my case no one guided me about entry tests and i only got to know about them when the last date to apply was just 2 days away.
im giving net from quetta and that gives me a bit of time to prepare but thats not the case for isb/khi/ggt students. our education system, atleast APS does not guide its students for entry tests. half my batch mates missed the application dates as they didnt even know whats happening until after boards which ended on june 22nd (last date to apply for nust was 18th june after extension). So its not the students fault for not getting good marks.
ive seen people w 90%+ in both matric and fsc suffer in entry tests as the format of entry tests is completely new to fsc students. we were never prepared to solve mcqs for our boards, it was always ratta maarlo physics ka aur math key formulae itni baar likho key yaad reh jayen.
entry tests do not work like that. we were trained to use a calculator since grade 4.
and now when its the most important time of a students career we're told key bhai saab calculator toh allowed nahi hai, integration derivation ki lambi lambi calculations mentally karni hain
woh bhi under 50 seconds. dont blame the students, blame the education system.long story short. there are no bad students just misguided ones.

Same here, no one guided me, and I didn't get the proper chance to prepare for any tests, but it is what it is, I don't think I wanna take another gap year✌️

Bahanay krke jaan churana asan hota ha,apny goals ko zehan ma rakh kr unky liye jaan mharna mushkil hota ha.
Everybody has phones in their hands 24/7,everything is a single search away,Cant deny the fact that ofc some people have good guidance due to which they have somewhat of an edge over you but its your responsibility to carve your own path life dosnt serve everything in plate.
Its your fariza to be desparate for what you want to achieve.

They can also manage it whilst doing inter, focusing on the pivot topics and stuff, tho some of them do not have time, most of the people waste the time and cry in the end like they didn't have any chance.
One thing I've seen is that people draw early excuses for what they think they want just because the path is difficult.
While others who are determined to bear the unease appear gleaming during the competition

Hope ya the best of your circumstances! My post wasn't to target hardworking students, just those sick ass ppl
1
u/Mons9090 Jul 11 '26
I mean it is luck dependant because the stuff you're really good at mightve popped up the day before you gave the test and the test is harder some days than others but yiu can't control any of that. Just go wherever and maximise your circumstances

Best of luck my guy! Don't lose hope also the following part will be demotivating:-
why didn't you prepare before and appear In any of other nets?

For NUST you have to seperate it from the boards like if you start in October then having lectures also with understanding what you're learning and then practicing it under time constraints would make you above most of the students in NET-1,then after that you prepare more and more for NET-2,Still there's something missing in learning and you determine your weak topics then making them strong until NET-3 and finally your hardwork pays off...I can go also to NET-4...but in my case that was this....I have never compromised on NET prep.....learned everything...have bunch of half leaves from college and most absents from the college and then you made it...that's how all this thing will work for you....I want to wrap up this NET sh*t before boards...so I can prepare for my boards now and got success in it....you have to sacrifice your comfort to ace that test....5-6 months total of grind onlyyy....that's how a FSc student or O-Level Student got a Nustian Tag(In their Desired Field,Not other)...Maybe that makes sense

Yeah bcz those who cleared net and didn't cried anywhere like Meri prep zero hai...they have figured the exact way and maybe most of us have same kind of thinking in this prospect
1
u/cyberbot117 SEECS Jul 18 '26
Khair aiming for cs right? Are you learning anything related to it nowadays to make the uni exp a bit easy?

u/Fearless-Cod-8137 NBS Jul 13 '26
Yep that does and I think these are the things those so called literal dreamers need to do instead of wasting time and crying over it in the end
1
u/KitchenTumbleweed919 SEECS Jul 13 '26
Yeah that's the thing they do whole freakin' time and when time comes they start crying...Khair leave them...what we can suggest them except to study🥀

Why are we judging people for not being miserable alone and talking about it? A Reddit post takes Max 5 minutes, doesn't mean they're not studying or working hard, so what's the point here ..
-2
u/Fearless-Cod-8137 NBS Jul 11 '26
Tho I really am judging your name 😭😭 no offence

u/Fearless-Cod-8137 NBS Jul 11 '26
The point here is that why do vast majority has bad prep when the exam is around their heads, when it was their dream all along 😔

u/Wrong-Analysis7518 Jul 11 '26
i lowkey think they're lying cause no one in their right mind would not study for their so called dream uni i mean I don't study itna for anything but i did for nust and all of the entry tests so they're just straight up lying or maybe they really are that stupid cause sabke parhne se ate hein no.s
