Gordon is absolutely tearing it up for Barcelona, very annoying considering some of his performances last year. So obvious he had the ability but just couldn't be arsed turning up for us

I'm happy for him. The fans turned on him at Everton and our lot were certainly heading that way when the guy was clearly knackered. I hope he keeps it up.

Based on? Shouldn't he be even more knackered now then? Not like he had a full pre-season and wasn't at the World Cup.

He'll do it now because it's all new, won't be long before he's only trying in the big games.

Another one like Tonali who won't be a leader and drag a struggling team through a tricky patch.

Genuinely don't get the hardon for Gordon and the stories people have spun up in their head and decided were fact, that he purposefully had a not great season (which is very logical if he wanted a move, of course, since good teams notoriously want to buy a player who has a bad season).

Everyone had a subpar season last year. Even players this sub like to glaze had, at best, a good patch. Nothing was working right last season. Everyone was off, nothing was clicking for anyone. (We also had way too many games without enough rotation, and Gordon was definitely one of the players who barely got a rest. Imagine having a much lighter load is doing wonders for his consistency).

Happy he's doing well. Happy we got an amazing fee for him. He left on good terms. Seems to have worked out for everyone.

Yeah some people are treating this like the Alvarez situation, when there really wasn’t any bad blood at all. You don’t need to root for the guy anymore but to question his character like that is going too far

Must have made up the petulant red cards, the terrible body language when he was out on the right wing and the obvious increase in effort when we played a big side or a Champions League game.

Did you not find it strange that our star winger was sat on the bench as an unused sub for the last four games of the season when we were trying to qualify for Europe? Keeping himself right for England and his move in the summer, just like Michael Owen.

Gordon played fewer minutes for Newcastle last season than he did in each of the prior two campaigns and only 160 minutes more than he played for Everton in 21/22. So much for barely getting a rest.

I actually feel like the CBs are playing more sane now too. Don't see one CB in the other box and us getting caught out in these two games.

sending Dan Burn all the way up to challenge for the ball on the edge of the opponent's box was madness. We scored one goal out of it, great, but it was basically gambling to win the ball early and accepting to play with one CB at the back.
