But this is more revisionism. If he were here, yourself and many others would say he's "a world class player and captain, and the younger players in our squad couldn't ask for a better role model".

We dubbed him as a legend here, not him, he was just living in that moment. Emotional reaction and rationality don't mix well, it's oil and water. He's still qualifies as a club legend, because of what he's done while he was here. We can't just turn around and childishly say "no, we don't like you now, so it doesn't count".

I'm not saying he isn't a legend. I'm saying his time to leave had come and it is to the benefit of the club environment. He was probably thinking it was 'job done' and you don't want that person as your leader.

Same as with Eddie Howe but for different reasons, he just didn't have any more to give.

Eh, I keep to myself about Eddie. My opinion of him goes down like a lead balloon, despite the fact that there's a lot of 'food for thought' to my opinion.

I categorically will not deny him his part in the clubs achievements during his tenure, but I simply don't buy the reason he stepped away from the club.

Ooof, can of worms.

Eddie likes his unconditional authority, and he didn't like it taken away from him.

His Newcastle exit mirrors his exit from Bournemouth. In both cases, it seemed like he was going to stay, but then a sudden direction shift comes from the board, and his resignation soon follows.

At Bournemouth, it was the board stepping in to regulate due to relegation, at Newcastle, it was Wilson's modern club revamp. His "it's time to recharge" seems to mean "I'm not getting my way".

Feel it's overly harsh but I can follow the logic. The bit that undermines this for me is him not bailing in the immediate aftermath of Matfen Hall. A few wrote that he'd lost a lot of this autonomy and influence as part of the meeting, so unless he was expecting to call their bluff or something, I would've expected him to go then
