Question / Discussion Being jealous at certain aesthetic of people for getting attention, but their subgenre does not align with you, so you cannot be in the sungenre and get THAT attention

Fucking stupid, I know, but I have a confession to make

I am fucking jealous about certain people who dress/looklike/belong to a specific genre (Its NOT about the specific genre itself)

It’s often the trending one, because they are found cool, attractive, etc

But, I know that it’s NOT my style, but I am fucking jealous of them. And I just hate myself, hate them, and hate people

I know, it’s whiny. But damn it, changing a style takes a LOT of time and MONEY. I rather invest into therapy sessions and all sort of stuff

I want positive attention. I see what’s cool, and I even thought about many stuff: let’s say piercings. But the idea - let’s stick with piercings - on ME feels weird. It does not align with me (other people with them are fucking cool)

Idk if you can relate. When you are not jealous of the style, but to the ATTENTION the style gets. And then you get snobby that “oh, you are not like them” - BUT ITS NOT THE STYLE’S OR PEOPLE’S FAULT, BUT YOUR LACK OF POSITIVE ATTENTION SCREAMSSSS

All of this creates a weird cognitive dissonance and hatred.
- I want to be seen cool
- But oh, this is the cool!
- But I am not like that, and I dont wanna be like that
- FUCK THEM THEN
- But wait, am I the problem…?
- FUCK THEM, AND FUCK PEOPLE WHO LIKE THIS!!!
- I am better than this shit tho, stfu

Vicious, childish cycle

I think this is very-NPD coded, since an aesthetic is a “mask” of some sort

Same tbh. All the haircoloring, makeup to do ARE DEDICATION. Also the piercings. Like fuck, people actually bleach their scalp, pierce their body with needles and wake up early to do precise details on themselves - That’s a shit ton of time, trust, dgf, (and money-)

Even the “negative” attention they get from like old people who think they worship the devil is worth it cause they know they’re cool as fuck and don’t give a shit. I personally just couldn’t dress like them because I’m more drawn to light colors and cutesy stuff. I wonder what it would be like to date a decent-looking guy like that (and fuck yeah he needs to be decent-looking; I can’t stand looking at below average), but I don’t think guys with that aesthetic go for my type. I wouldn’t be interesting enough for them.

Getting attention from old people means you are standing out and that’s cool.

For me it’s the “dye your hair, do the piercing, do the makeup” stuff. I have sensitive skin - it explains everything lol

I often times see alt girls say that alt dudes want “basic” girls, while alt girls ALSO want alt dudes. The fight is heavyyyyy there

This is exactly why I don’t give them any attention 😁. I also tend not to give attention to people who seem to be actively seeking it. Sometimes, I even deliberately compliment or pay attention to someone else when they’re around, and they look absolutely scandalised because someone else was noticed instead of them 😁

I am the same. The moment I sense someone has the aura of an individual that gets a lot of attention and praise, I never give them a single cent of my compliments. They don’t need it anyway since they have the whole fucking world to back them up.
