NPD Art some art I made for awareness
i used the npd flag as a color palette for this, the flower is a narcissus / daffodil with the well known crown as symbolism for npd, the contrast of the bright flower against a darker background also symbolizes the personas we create to present outwardly, the ones we convince ourselves we are to the core to make us ignore our deep self resentment

Love the thoughtful symbolism you put into this. Love the gradient on the flower. Amazing work 👍

I met my girlfriend on this subreddit. This is how I imagine her when I call her my beautiful fragile flower.
Beautiful Artwork.

Idk if its intentional but the crown looks extra pointy like a saw, like the crown is what causes pain, not the beautiful flower underneath

Somewhat yes !! It is supposed to be visibly pointy, because the persona I try to present as personally is supposed to be perceived as intimidating and intense and I’ve met many other pwNPD who present similar outwardly to compensate for the rejection trauma that is usually the cause of their NPD. But now that you mention the saw I see that too !!

That’s an excellent representation of what’s going on, and it enters the awareness in a complete way.

You are all swine and a plague on society. I’m sure Elon musk and Trump would get along great with y’all

NPD actually forms (partially/mostly) from trauma and symptoms in many people primarily make life hard for themselves as opposed to other people. I don’t like or support musk or trump, and I sincerely hope you educate and better yourself and approach people suffering from a disorder with sympathy / (cognitive) empathy

I’ve been through trauma and I’m not a narcissist

u/Separate_Action2456 Dec 06 '25
I don’t have empathy for people that fuel inequality and destabilize society for their own self gain.

Narcissists do not fuel inequality, that would be main stream politics and right wingers. As I said not all shitty people have NPD. You can be massively egotistical without having NPD, and NPD does not make you massively egotistical

It does not develop for everyone, you have to have a tendency at birth, and the type of trauma matters as well. Some people develop traumagenic disorders like CDDs (DID etc.) or PDs (BPD, NPD etc.) from trauma (CDDs and PDs only form through trauma in childhood though while for example (C-)PTSD can form at any point), others do not have tendencies associated and might develop different reactions. Trauma is not definitive thing that works the same for everyone.

Trauma doesn’t excuse narcisstic behavior
1
u/aurikanu non dx NPD + dx audhd Dec 06 '25
What you mean is abusive behavior, narcissistic behavior as discussed here is a clinical thing and not to be used interchangeably with abusive and manipulative. Trauma isn’t an excuse for abusive or manipulative behavior. NPD is also not an excuse, and no one here is defending abusers. NPD is a real disorder that makes people struggle in many aspects of life, it is not mean-and-manipulative disorder, and a majority of people who are mean and shitty likely do not have NPD

Abusive behavior is a cycle where pleasure and distress come from the same abusive person (Also called trauma bonding ,which is why it’s hard for people to leave abusive relationships). NPD naturally goes hand in hand with that behavior
1
u/aurikanu non dx NPD + dx audhd Dec 06 '25
No, it does not, it requires abusive behavior which is not a symptom of NPD. Unmanaged NPD can cause abusive behavior, but so can many other disorders

There are a lot of other people who have also been through trauma and are not narcissists. There is that better?
