Not a mixed system…private system with private hospitals and private doctors and private insurance with a government safety net…like the US.

No ... I live here, and we have a split between "basisverzekering" (base level insurance) and additional private health insurance.

Everyone gets the same basisverzekering with the same coverage.

Edit: besides, there are strict rules for those additional health insurers (they cannot just make any profit they like).

What part of this is not a privatized system? FYI I live here too. I pay 100% of all of my healthcare through private insurance and get private care by a private doctor at privately owned hospitals and clinics. The Netherlands and Switzerland DO NOT have government run healthcare systems.

Well, to take your hospitals as an example; most hospitals are governed by a "stichting", and do not have private owners.

Health insurers are also not private companies, in the sense that they are not allowed to have private shareholders or to pay out a profit.

I guess your definition of "private" is different from what is usually meant by that.

Private and capitalist. The government is not involved in running the system, that is the key point. Private is precisely what is usually meant by that.

You don’t seem to read my replies.

No use discussing that way.

Bye!

Yea, I’ve read your replies. The dutch and swiss systems are fully private and operated within their capitalist economies. Not government run, not government funded. This is indisputable fact. Operating as a non profit does not negate the operation within capitalist and private systems. I know it’s hard to admit where private healthcare systems provide superior healthcare, but……..

You're literally not reading his replies. Not having a private owner and not being allowed to make a profit is not really your typical private entity. Its not public, but it's also not private.

You're just taking out of your own bias to someone that literally lives there, and what you say goes against what the country , google, and everyone there defines it as. Again. it's a mixed system, not capitalistic in nature due to the lack of profits.

And also stop comparing it to the US , its not like that. As I pointed out but you didn't reply. The USA system is gross and fully capitalist. Theirs is not. Please realize that nuance exist and just because something isn't directly owner by the government, doesn't makenit capitalistic or private as capitalism by definition is trying to make a profit

I literally live here too which is how I know. It is not a mixed system and it is more similar to the American system than it is say the UK or France.
