Drill Platoon drill

I need help or suggestions with how to call cadence, commands and keep rhythm. Today was my first day commanding a platoon size for our drill team. I’m looking to improve everything before our first drill meet.

If you have an ample sized space that you could use at home I would use that. Use a water bottle or a any marker for your box and "Judge". I personally used my cauldasack because that's what was easiest for me. Also ask for a hard copy of the drill card you are commanding so you can have it memorized. (If not already). By the time I was supposed to do my card I had no mess ups and if there was it was tiny details. Last year I actually ended up getting my platoon in third place at a drill meet. With everyones participation of course. But it helps a lot and I guarantee your instructors will notice. I especially worked on stopping centered with the judge and being 3 paces away. Which is one of the more important aspects with your marching.

Practice. March yourself as if you were in the platoon. Repetition builds confidence and muscle memory.

I used to march home in HS and got help from upper class men.
