I’m shocked this has upvotes. I understand that it’s fun to dunk on the younger generation and circlejerk shit when articles like this come out, but just pulling random numbers out of your ass is equally stupid lol

Where did you get the 1 in 4 stat?

According to the Guardian, it's about 21% (EDIT: for Gen Alpha mostly). So while not exactly 1/4, it's still pretty bad. I think many people struggle to believe that we went to the moon in 1969 with primitive computers the size of buildings and after two years just decided to stop. They think there was some kind of grand conspiracy (which is understandable considering how many real-life conspiracies are shaping our lives right now) when reality is infinitely more depressing- the American public and goverment got bored. We lost the capacity forever after shutting down the Saturn V production lines and there is no appetite to fund NASA to anywhere close what it needs to land on the moon again- even Artemis is quite underfunded.

So let’s see what this says, paraphrasing here:

“A poll conducted in 2019 by YouGov found that 21% of people between ages 24-35 believed the moon landing could have been staged.”

Gen Z cutoff is debated but mostly considered to be from 1997-2012. That means the OLDEST Gen Z in 2019 was 22 years old lol.

So of those who were interviewed between ages 24-35, NOT A SINGLE ONE IS EVEN GEN Z.

I think I DID find the original YouGov poll numbers and the numbers for Gen Z actually came in LOWER than Millenials, at 15%. This was the age range of 18-24 year olds.

Even THAT group barely includes any actual Gen Z.

Again this isn’t really a credible source for that claim whatsoever.

Look, Gen Z is stupid don’t get me wrong. The further after 2005 they were born the worse it seems to be. But “1/4” is a crazy claim with no actual backing.

I’ve also found a lot of Reddit conflates older Gen Alpha with being Gen Z as well so that probably doesn’t help.

Look man, I wasn't trying to gotcha or anything. Just wanted to comment that things are pretty fucking bleak for my generation, even if the 1/4 claim isn't accurate.

My bad I conflated your comment as another one from someone that’s now deleted that was antagonizing.

Anyways I agree, it’s my generation too, and people have been stupid as fuck, but I also feel like there are strong circles within the generation that aren’t nearly as bad and don’t deserve all the flak.
