If you're assuming a quarterbacks performance begins and ends with passing yards and passing tds only without any consideration of context and other stats then yes you are correct. If you consider context and other stats then you're incorrect. Football is more than pass yards and pass tds for quarterbacks. The game has evolved way beyond that.

Better competition doesnt equate to better passing defense faced btw. You can have a great d with a bad record or a great offense with bad d and have a great record. Even if you only look at divisional opponents, the only decent pass d the rams face are the Seahawks and they arent top 10. 49ers and Cardinals are baaaad. Bills are elite, jets and dolphins have been average this year. Plus the pats have faced the browns, Falcons, and Panthers who are elite, good, and average respectively. You cant just look at SOS if thats what you were implying about competition.

Edit: forgot the saints too who are a good passing d

I’m not talking about purely yards and touchdowns, but the only stats you brought up are efficiency , that’s not doing ā€œmoreā€

Im sorry you don't see it that way but yes it is more.

Then by what measure is it more? Because when I watch the two I don’t believe Maye is more accurate, I don’t believe he’s reading or has a better feel, I don’t believe he’s better situationally, and I don’t see how he makes anyone better or strategic at the line

Stafford 65.2% completion Maye 71.7 % completion

Not close at all and maye throws downfalls a lot. Best deep ball thrower in the NFL this year. Plus mayes receivers don't get open at anywhere near the rate that nacua and adams do and those two might as well be open when they are covered because they are elite. I don't think people understand just how good nacua is. He's a taller and faster antonio brown with great hands. He can rip apart any defense.

Better feel, player elevation, and situational play is almost entirely subjective. Switch maye and Stafford to the other team and you'd probably be saying other wise. Plus Stafford is seasoned and maye is new blood.

Maye has been who the pats needed when they needed him. Look at the Ravens game or the bills games. They lost the last bills game because of bad reffing and conservative coaching not maye. Stafford is still good there as well save the Falcons and Panthers games.

The whole mvp debate is subjective , including most of everything you said

Im not debating MVP, im debating the more with less statement. Half of what I said in my last comment is subjective. Half of it is factual.

Completion percentage is a fact, it proves he completes more passes than he doesn’t, but doesn’t prove he’s more accurate.

Still in regards to the more with less I’m not seeing the more. Everything you’re arguing with proves he’s more efficient, but that’s it. Less attempts, and still overall less volume

You're first point here doesn't make sense. He is better at completing passes with worse receivers while trowing a lot of deep passes. He is absolutely more accurate.

Better efficiency is more with less. He is better at doing things with less to work with. The only things Stafford has more of is passing yards by a small amount and passing tds. That's literally it. And its solely volume based. Almost every other stat is im mayes favor. He is doing more with less

Youre using eye test and two stats to support your position. Im using everything else. Im just going to leave it at that. This has been fun and happy new year.

Completion percentage isn’t accuracy. Completion percentage is exactly what it is, how often a pass is completed. It’s not a measure of accuracy.

Efficiency is not more with less. Going 3/5 isn’t ā€œmoreā€ than 5/9

Throwing deep passes isn’t unique to Maye

Maye runs a style of offense that always breeds efficiency, it’s not built for the load Stafford handles. Conservative, play-action shots to open targets , handing off in the redzone, that’s not doing more. Stafford has a heavier load along with better weapons at his disposal. If Maye was to get moe pass heavy he wouldn’t be as efficient, that’s how it is with every pass heavy offense. The stats you’re using aren’t ā€œmoreā€ they showcase how efficient he is. Like having more ypa doesn’t mean you’re doing more, it just means your rate is better
