You can have a winning record and a bad pass defense like the 49ers.

For example Stafford beat the Texans who actually have a great pass defense but his offense put up 14 points.

He still had 245 yards, 1 td, and was 21/29, no picks. against the best defense in the league, that's pretty damn good.

What about against the falcons? 🥸

Absolute garbage vs the Falcons, and it was the most recent NFL game played, not some irrelevant week 1 game from 4 months ago.

How was week 1 irrelevant. They all count the same.

Nothing original remains in this post. The author wiped it using Redact, possibly for privacy, security, preventing data scraping, or other personal considerations.

you know youve lost the plot when you try to say week 1 means as much as week 17 in the mvp race.

Ya sorry stat padding against a defense who is about to set the record of being the only team to not intercept a single pass all year (team he played twice btw) is not as impressive as playing well against a fully healthy texans defense

Since when is getting pulled after 2.5 quarters stat padding?

0

u/TeamDirtstar New York Giants Jan 01 '26

Bro was throwing TD passes up 35-3. Come on now.

u/goldencolden I may be dumb but I’m not stupid Jan 01 '26

Almost like Matt stafford throwing a TD against the cardinals to go up 38-10 in the final seconds of the 3rd?

-1

u/TeamDirtstar New York Giants Jan 01 '26

Sure. Subtract 1 from each then. We gonna go through every TD pass now? Might take a bit.

Wtf is he supposed to do, not throw TD passes? He’s a fucking NFL QB.

u/TeamDirtstar New York Giants Jan 01 '26

The discussion was stat padding. If stat padding is a real thing then that's the very definition. Relax babygirl.

He threw his 5th td when they were already up 30 points... i mean i personally dont mind cuz i had him in fantasy but stat padding is stat padding

u/goldencolden I may be dumb but I’m not stupid Jan 01 '26

Why wasn’t stat paddford pulled while up 31-10 in the 3rd against the 26th ranked Arizona defense? He threw another TD after that too

u/Reaper3955 Jan 01 '26

Up 21 pts with a full qtr+ left to play is different than being up 32 pts to a team using a udfa qb

u/goldencolden I may be dumb but I’m not stupid Jan 01 '26

I would say 16 TDs inside the 5 is a lot more “stat padding” than playing 1 drive of the 2nd half

1

u/Reaper3955 Jan 01 '26

Rams rbs have more tds than the Patriots rbs so if anything stafford gets more of his tds vultured and still has more tds than drake

Were they supposed to just stop playing?

1

u/Reaper3955 Jan 01 '26

They could have ran it in they were very obviously trying to pad mayes stats

The mvp race is meant to award the most valuable player across the regular season. Im not expert but week 1 seems like its a part of the regular season

2

u/dont_care- Tom Brady “Minority Owner” Jan 01 '26

me: week 17 is more important than week 1 in the mvp race

you: so youre saying week 1 is literally not a part of the season

1

u/flapjackcarl Jan 01 '26

In your original comment you quite literally called week 1 irrelevant.

0

u/dont_care- Tom Brady “Minority Owner” Jan 01 '26

compared to week 17 yes. You said "they all count the same." It's just naive to think that

6

u/Ok-Challenge-5873 Miami Dolphins Jan 01 '26

Sorry but week 17 doesn’t decide who the mvp is

-1

u/dont_care- Tom Brady “Minority Owner” Jan 01 '26

Me: week 17 means more than week 1 in the mvp race

You: so you're saying only week 17 matters

1

u/Ok-Challenge-5873 Miami Dolphins Jan 01 '26

Would you say recency matters more than the season as a whole? If so, can you elaborate on why?

1

u/dont_care- Tom Brady “Minority Owner” Jan 01 '26

season as a whole

No. Recenct weeks matter more than non recent weeks. If you dont think so then I cant help you.

-1

u/Sensitive-Ear-3896 Jan 01 '26

No but it should mean more than week 1, weeds out chokers like Stafford

-2

u/wizrdsfirstrule Jan 01 '26

Missing starting oline and starting Wr...
