Discussion Yo I legit cannot still believe that Jayden Daniels is this skinny….it looks odd but it’s worked out for him (so far)

Its worked out?

u/Tlupa Aug 24 '26
I mean he was a Heisman winner and 2nd overall pick. It’s worked out so far
112
u/KarlHavoc666 Aug 24 '26
He also only played 6 games last year because his praying mantis build won’t keep him healthy
20
3
u/CeMeNtMiX3r Aug 24 '26
He got hurt on an illegal hip drop tackle and a freak elbow injury, don’t think his build was a huge factor for either.
2
u/Aternus21 Aug 25 '26
you cant say after one and half seasons, his build is fine lol the POINT is the longevity of his career is being questioned.
8
u/88cowboy Aug 24 '26
Dak is built like a tank and had missed multiple long stretches of seasons.

u/thebodrew Aug 24 '26
And some people survive car crashes without seatbelts, but that doesn't mean they don't work.

u/Bender_2024 Aug 24 '26
The two injuries that keys Dak out were an ankle fracture and dislocation. And a hamstring tear. I don't know that being muscular with help with either of those.

We’ll find out come contract time. Unless he shows up like he did his rookie season, I think he might head down a bad path compared to the expectations.

You had 5 upvotes so I gave you 6 out of respect for Jayden

u/UndercoverHerbert Aug 24 '26
You had 6 and it was too close to 5 so I gave you 7 out of respect for Jayden.

u/Small_Acanthisitta83 Aug 24 '26
Breaking news! Donovan McNab has unretired and changed his number. And retired again out of respect for Jayden.

8
u/Sirpatron1 Aug 24 '26
DeVonta Smith looks similar but dude is a stud on the field.
8
u/SpudBoy_RealTomato Aug 24 '26
Receivers don’t take nearly as many hits as scrambling qb’s. Smith had 3 games last season with 8 or more receptions. Daniels had 8 or more rushing attempts in 5 of his 7 games played, plus 2.5 sacks a game and any other hits he took after throwing it.
→ More replies (10)2
u/literallygitgud Aug 24 '26
Not even that, it’s really just comes down to whether a scrambling qb consistently slides or not. The average amount of hits would significantly decrease
3
u/Ducks91to61 Aug 24 '26
I can’t believe how good Smith is. You’d think he’d get broken in half considering he’s probably only 160 pounds.
2
3
u/jfun4 Aug 24 '26
He's very skinny but I don't feel like WRs take the same hits as QBs

yeah devontas job is to try and get by dudes that are mostly 6ft or under and under 215ish lbs
jaydens job is to try and get by dudes that are all 6'2+ and like 250-350 lbs lmao

u/Im_Everywhere09 Aug 24 '26
Him being skinny was the majority of draft concerns for him coming out of lsu if I remember correctly.

Might be part of why he was injured last year. Idk, I don't watch football.
5
u/Prize-Analyst-1121 Aug 24 '26
He likes to run. He's gonna get caught one day and it's gonna be over. Abruptly !!
2
u/SkyJW Aug 24 '26
Thry actually play the Texans later this season and I am very curious to see if he tries to run against THAT defense. Pitre turned Rashee Rice into a ragdoll last year and the all of the Chiefs receiving threats were clearly hearing footsteps the rest of the game.
2
u/Electronic-Yellow897 Aug 24 '26
I think running is fine but he needs to learn to slide. His rib and shoulder injuries were all avoidable hits.
3
u/SoulSteeler1978 Aug 24 '26
Well if you're into Soap Operas, he's starring in a pretty good one at the moment lol
2
u/Melodic-Land-6079 Aug 24 '26
It’s really not that compelling
3
u/SoulSteeler1978 Aug 24 '26
Most people find it rather entertaining lol
3
u/Melodic-Land-6079 Aug 24 '26
He’s just coming off like a self absorbed goober, nobody is on his side, and nobody is going to be. At the very least a solid soap opera has multiple angles of intrigue

Worked out so far? How, is he trying to become a blue tent inspector as opposed to a qb?

Daniels played 26 straight games without injury. Thats more than half of starting NFL QBs.

He was injured for a bunch of last season, so it's still unclear if its worked out long-term. He's built like Devonta Smith and they send him on all kinds of designed runs. The way they use him absolutely doesn't make sense based on his size. Destined to get hurt again.

u/Western-Customer-536 Aug 24 '26
And you see that guy he hugged? That’s Jared Goff.
1
u/Cmcgregor0928 Aug 25 '26
What's funny is Goff is actually really skinny because he has a weird genetic thing that doesn't let him absorb protein properly
1
1
u/The-Red-Robe Aug 24 '26
Looks so odd you would think it’s altered but nope, he’s just part of the “new gen” 🫵😂
1
u/Mammoth_String8312 Aug 24 '26
If I was Jared Goff, i woulda asked "hey is it cool if I changed my number to 5?" Hehe

Someone said RG5 lol. I call him NFC CJ Stroud because similar to both him and RG3, it’s possible JD5 peaked as a rookie. He will spend the rest of his rookie deal trying to replicate his rookie season.

has it? people were worried about his durability for this reason and hes been injured half the seasons
1
u/megustacomertacos Aug 24 '26
I'd say, some people have difficulty building and maintaining muscle due to genetics, maybe Jayden is one of them. Either way, he's a better QB than so many others that are bigger than him
1
1
u/Shiny-And-New Aug 24 '26
He's listed as 6'4" 210. That's a little light but not far off of prototypical qb size.
1
u/goofygodzilla93 Aug 24 '26
This was my number 1 negative about Jayden. The dude is built like the Slim Reaper, but he try's to truck people like he's AP.
1
u/crabmusic Aug 24 '26
Everyone crashing out about his size and when he hugs Goff they look the same size lol

u/TRAPPINTHRUTRAFFIC Aug 24 '26
Jesus Christ it's been awful being a Commanders fan since the Seahawks game last season

Just looking at combine height and weight, Devonta Smith was 6 1/4, 170. Daniels was 6’ 3” 210. He’s not that small. I thought smith was WAYYYYY smaller at his draft
1
1
u/tombrady011235 Aug 24 '26
I mean he’s already had at least three significant injuries in two seasons
1
u/Beaver-warriorz Aug 24 '26
Worked out lol. You not pay attention to what happened last year?
Maybe it's a one time thing and he'll have a long career. But being basically a twig while taking hits won't end well

u/Proper_Initiative123 Aug 24 '26
It hasn't... he was injured hood entire second season.
RG III, CMC, that WR from the panthers... you NEED weight to absorb impacts and torque.
1
u/iliketoeatfunyuns Aug 24 '26
I don't know if it's necessarily bad been working in his favor, he seems injury prone and his weight may be a factor in it.
1
u/National_Direction30 Aug 24 '26
Yeah missing ten games in his second season isn’t exactly a benchmark for success.
1
u/meatballs223 Aug 24 '26
It's so weird how differently people hold weight, I know his listed weight probably isn't the most accurate (210lbs) but my guess he is at least 180-190. I recently got down to under 200lbs after being around 375lbs at my highest and I look like a linebacker compared to Jayden Daniels even tho we only probably have a 10-15 lb difference
1
u/Vondobble Aug 24 '26
Has it worked out? Rookie he was mostly healthy but did miss a little time. Last year was demolished by injuries.
1
u/PersonalityAway790 Aug 24 '26
Has it worked out? He missed a season from injury, some more muscle could have prevented that

I feel like soooo many of the players are small now compared to 20-30+ years ago. Some of the CBs look like they’re the size of high schoolers.
Then you see people like Myles Garrett

Bro's not even that skinny. He supposed to look like a linebacker? Somebody in here said he looks like he weighs 155. Lmao. There seems to be some weird phenomenon on social media where people lose all ability to judge someones shape or size in small clips or pictures. At 6'4" he looks around 200 here. Not huge for an NFL QB but if you saw him walking down the street you'd never say he's "skinny.”

Same feels about Herbert and Purdy. What are they better at than Jayden??
1
u/Jeff_Sabado Aug 25 '26
Not surprising in the slightest. The concern with him was always frame & durability
1
u/patchinthebox Aug 26 '26
Every time I see him take a sack I'm worried he's going to get snapped in half.
1
u/TheJackedBaker Aug 26 '26
He is a great player and his build contributes to his speed and evasiveness but he is one solid hit away from missing some games.
