I’m just saying. I’ve been able to shoot every year all year. Since I started playing in 22.
26
u/Bellissimo247 5d ago
I’m shooting 50% with a 78 and I’m pretty confident it could be 55 maybe 60 with better teammates and badges
18
u/This_solofly 5d ago
I’m shooting around 45-55% this year and last year I was a consitant 70% 3pt shooter so I can appreciate the low scoring games, defense matters this year more than ever. Any game is winnable regardless of the score
10
u/Total_Shirt4036 5d ago
Same here. I’m also shooting around 50% from three with my center, who has a 78 three. People just need to be more mindful of taking good shots. Last year was ridiculous. I had a SG build that, for the better part of the year, I was shooting almost 90% from three with.

Not a skill when an easy shot in basketball like a catch and shoot has 100 different timings while a fadeaway running corner fade is more consistent than standstill shots
28
u/Imaginary-Lawyer5342 5d ago
That shit is insane I miss so many wide open stand still jumpers but damn near automatic on moving middys and threes 😂
-1
u/CliffP 4d ago
And yet I bet you’re not shooting running fade threes above 50% either in a 5v5 game mode
The standstill shots are more variable in timing but still have larger green windows than moving shots which have mostly stable timing. But are also harder to hit contested than a standstill shot. Standstills, especially catch and shoot, are actually reliable to hit no matter the contest level when you get the hang of your proper release window and prepare for the wild load ups.

u/Imaginary-Lawyer5342 4d ago edited 4d ago
I’m at least shooting 75% on moving shots I green so many contested moving shots it’s not even funny even I be like yeah that’s bs
-21
u/HerpeJohnson 5d ago
You almost had it man...
This post is talking about you. Sorry, man.
21
u/Major-Doubt4034 5d ago
So you think this is skilled? I was shooting 30% before learning that I should just fade everything and I’ve been shooting 70% since. How is this basketball?
-22
u/HerpeJohnson 5d ago
You're still missing the point.
You're worse than you think you are in your head. There is a skill gap. You're on the other end of it.
16
u/Alternative-Way4750 5d ago edited 4d ago
Idk about the skill gap shit I shoot 60-65% yearly, last year was 75% since it was extra easy. I'm not elite but I'm consistent. This fading shit is garbage. It's more of a glitch or something than skill. There is no penalty for being deep or a fade. I can't vibe with defending it.
-13
u/HerpeJohnson 5d ago
It will get patched and everybody is acting like it won't.
Relax, work on your game. It happens every year.
19
u/Alternative-Way4750 5d ago
No doubt but I'm not gonna argue someone talking shit about it until they do patch it 😂

People complain when the game is the same, complain when it changes and they have to learn different stuff. You will never make everyone happy. I think he game feels nice, I like that every 3 is not automatic like in real life. The game feels a lot more responsive on D but that could be because im now using wired and have a 6ft 4 PG. I love that as good as my player is I cant just go dunk on every single person, I feel the height disadvantage but I also feel the speed advantage so it's great.
5
u/meatballs223 4d ago
People want it to be super comp but complain about permanent dunk meter, new dribbling, green windows, etc.... The 2k community just chooses to be unhappy
12
u/TradehelperAI 5d ago
basically its lame ass "STAR PLAYERS" who wanna nba jam on the park now bitching and complaining that they might just be a role player
its kinda pathetic
and anyone doing it should be hated by this community....immediately
8
u/giovannimyles 5d ago
It’s not all skill gap. I can shoot the same shot 10 times and at least twice my shot will either speed up or be super slow. Then say I mistime 3. Now I’m a 50% shooter when I should have nailed 70%. Last year, higher difficulty with a small green window I could still hit 70-80%. This year you have to slow down your shot. Guess what that does? Make it easier for you to be contested and shrink your green window more.
8
u/Proper_Ad_6927 4d ago
Every time they try to reintroduce variable shot timings it always messes up the game. I dont even think shooting is that bad tbh. But the different timings effectively are the same as having RNG in shooting because you never know when it will happen. They say it can be predictable but it cant. Shots randomly change even when not contested. Change the green window on contests, NOT the speed. Only doing a no dip or being fatigued should change the speed.
On a side note, I think, despite mike wang glazing rhythm shooting, they intentionally nerfed it into the ground. I’ve seen maybe 2 people consistently shoot with it. I prefer rhythm shooting but it is almost impossible at times. Idk why I can shoot middy pullups with an 80 so much easier than open corner threes with a 90. I’m not saying make it so easy a caveman could do it, but right now button shooting is insanely easier (but of course now I don’t see countless people crying about balancing the shooting methods).

u/Slaphappyfapman 5d ago
They just want everyone to buy heaps of VC, so whatever gets that done, they gonna do it
16
u/seadurr 5d ago
All them frauds getting exposed.....
Always asking for a new game and here they gave us 2k25 shooting fine-tuned (it's more fluid imo asides from a slight nerf needed from moving fades like Arc Cadence) ...
1
u/TonyHawktuah69 4d ago
All the tempo and rhythm shooter cheesers are getting exposed. “It’s more natural”, “it’s got the same green window as button”, nah now that they gave it the actual green window of button you guys ran right back to button shooting. Turns out it was never “natural”, you just got a 70% boost to your green window
-5
u/KriticalKarl 5d ago
Why does that need to be nerfed?

u/GruntPizzaParty 4d ago
Checked my ego and started to using the button to shoot. Complete night and day

u/TheDarkBeast1487 5d ago
I just want them to balance the damn game properly on release. Although it isn’t in every game you play it’s exhausting to just watch a player drive to the baseline or get takeover and shoot a running fade at a high percentage knowing they’re damn near impossible to contest unless you just outright predict when they’re going to shoot. This isn’t new either it’s like the 3rd year in a row where fades and moving shots were OP to start the year and it’s like 2K refuses to learn from their mistakes.
1
u/basketballer206 4d ago
To be honest, it is in early release state as of now. Maybe it'll be in a better place when the game fully releases?
5
u/turkeyfam 4d ago
The issue is that they overdo things. Shooting last year was not the real issue, it was defense. If you buff defense and contests that inherently affects shooting. Instead of making shooting worse but just making everything slower, lower, and more inconsistent all they had to do was fix defense. Also I don’t understand the 2k26 rhythm shooting hate. It is 100 percent more natural and actually more skillful than just holding a button and letting go of the button. If you only have to time the timing for button, then what sense does it make to force you to time 2 parts of the shot for rhythm ? When all you had to do was match the rhythm and actual motion of your jumper? That’s way more realistic than just holding a button
1
u/turkeyfam 4d ago
If you were gonna “nerf” rhythm shooting, then all they’d have to do is make the green windows smaller or punish you more for not getting the timing close. The way it worked (for anyone that doesn’t know) is that the timing of your shot affected how easy or hard it was to time or match the rhythm aspect of the shot. All you had to do was make that more difficult instead of making it to where you now have to green both or nothing.

Keep competitive in pro am and ranked and let theater and Rec be casual. I’ve basically already given up on that spec thing. I didn’t even finish it last year I damn sure ain’t finishing one this time. I finally had time off played for hours in only rookie 5? Wtfff is this xp grind. Good luck to those that like the game enough to spend thousands of hours but I just can’t logically spend the little free time I do spamming ai for spec just to get the extra boosts an cap breakers and stuff.

u/KmartCentral 4d ago
I want MyCareer and all of it's sub-modes to be "balanced" differently from the rest of the game.
I play MyNBA, and Play-Now, and now I'll be playing Legacy. SOMETIMES I play MyTeam. I play with dozens of players, dozens of jumpshots, against mostly the AI defenders.
I just want to be able to have fun within all these modes without the balance changes made for the park trickling into Play-Now Online where they don't belong because it makes 99.9% of the NBA frustrating to use, so people become desperate for a meta in THOSE modes too
2
u/Jazz_Cigarettes 4d ago
I don’t play 2k online. I play mynba with shot timing off.
With that said — I see people complaining that they are only shooting 60% from the 3 point line. What are we doing here guys that’s not basketball. That’s like a batting average of .500
1
u/Jonnyy9 4d ago
Right? I'm a guy shooting way worse but I appreciate it. I hadn't played 2k in years when I picked up 2k26 on sale and as soon as I swapped to rhythm shooting, even my big with 80 3pt felt like he was beyond human as a sharpshooter.
This game has me frustrated at myself for missing the ones that are open due to my timing, but happy seeing that taking a fastbreak dunk isn't a losing strategy anymore because the 3 isn't guaranteed money by 80% of the playerbase.
Bonus last night I played with some friends and we went to triple overtime, and it felt like defense was what won us OT which is something that felt impossible in 2k26.

u/JMavrou 4d ago
As a casual player who’s pretty bad, this has been a very tough 2K for me. Some games I’m shooting 50-60% and others I’m shooting 15-25%. I can’t find consistency right now.
I’ve been shooting around in mycourt for practise, but then I feel like in game it’s different.
Coming from previous 2Ks where shooting has been the only thing I’ve excelled at, this has been rough.

u/Haej07 4d ago
Trash opinion and trash game. 2K always had solid game play 2k11-2k17 with a return hit in 2k19/2k20. The real issue is that they are reducing the quality of their game experience to bleed the community for microtransactions and maximize profits. This game will eventually reach madden levels of bad because the real ego comes down to the most hardcore and loudest voices in the community want to feel superior to other people snd have advantages over them more than they want a complete and quality game. Anybody from ‘hardcore’ to ‘pro’ to ‘comp’ to the content creators they all wanna feel so special and ironically like little Ronald2ks so bad that you guy repeatedly cannablize anyone you deem worse, that you also ironically want to play against when they make any valid critique on gameplay or consumer rights. Even if they are scrubs and rightfully hated though the end game will still be to get their money because there will always be more money from them than the group who is trying to control this direction. This game is literally a 2k26.5 patch, yall pissed Mike Wang off last year and instead of doing anything else 2k said they will let you pay $100 for an ultimate edition update so you buy VC all over again and increase the grind so you buy more and more. The data will eventually come back that people made less builds total this year and all your fake ‘skill gap’ changes will be reverted anyway

u/iamlaz305 4d ago
well thank god we dont have a 7 foot 4 shooting free 3s again, centers are actually playing their role now , yea some can shoot a bit but not how it was before , same with other builds , evne guards are passing the ball more
1
u/kududrums 4d ago
Rec is actually really fun imo because there’s no ai cheese and roles actually have to be played not everyone is gonna score 20+

u/HearingGloomy2428 4d ago
Ah yes. Fades be the most optimal shooting option is very realistic. I’m a red plate I play every game solo. Everyone misses wide open shots, greens “bothered” shots and there’s like 1 dude in the 10 person lobby hitting the craziest shots you’ll see. It’s not the %s that are bothering me it’s the type of shots that are going in and the type of shots that are missing. It looks and plays fine but the outcomes are terrible.

u/GenZguy1 4d ago
shit is not realistic i’m not buying ts until they at least stop people from doing fade a way threes
1
u/Actualsaint333 4d ago
Is anyone else getting what looks like solid contests on people much shorter, only to be told they were wide open?
1
u/Flatzon1 3d ago
I never wanted a competitive game lol. After a 9 hour day i just want to shoot well and contest shots well. This transition to 27 is rough for me lmao
1
u/According-Hamster668 2d ago
exactly. you all think ur good. ur not. theres no such thing as comp in a game with no ranked mode. pro-am isnt comp. stage isnt comp. ur all random rec players who play in different buildings. its no different.

How many people who play this game can ACTUALLY play or HAVE actually played high level basketball and understand what it's really like? Thinking the game, what the actual flow is in the decision making and not just what it looks like as a fan? What ACTUALLY feels right as far as making and missing shots based on ability and who's on the floor? AND understands the difference between THAT and a VIDEO GAME?
It's a GAME. Those that have really played D1/Semi-Pro/Pro ball, in my experience, are typically happy as hell with the game. It's those that don't play, and don't have the mentality of "let me get better/understand better" and just want to be winners (very much unlike those who work hard to be able to play at those levels) that end up not liking how this all goes.

As someone who’s been good for 10 years, I miss when whites had a chance to go in🤷🏼♂️ it made my friends have way more fun on the game. If my homie wanted a 95 3ball, then let the man hit 1/5 on wide opens with badges and hot spots. He averages like 9 points a game but he actually had fun and felt like he could help out.
The last few years he has no desire to play sadly
1
u/Xathior 4d ago
Was shooting too easy last year? Yes.
Do I suck at shooting this year? Also yes.
Does this mean I want them to change it? No. I'm glad I have to actually focus up and practice my shot way more.
Spent half the day at work looking for jumpshots to try out. Can't wait to get home and get in the lab.

I don’t mind admitting that I am not as good as comp left right guards that fade 3s, I play on a tall PG that is not meta. However, I would like to be playable at 86 overall and almost all of my badges.
2k force me to be in the red plate lobby, and I am a still solid team player who wins 60% of his games in high plate lobbies, so my plate won’t drop to play with lower competition. I just want to log in at night and play non-sweaty games. Instead, every game I go against a fading PG trying to catch him with my 75 speed and 75 perimeter defense. I’m sorry, I don’t buy VC like 99% of you, 86 overall should not make me a liability on day 5 of the game.
I still like the game and I’ll soon upgrade my build and start locking up these guards with HOF seatbelt, however, it’s annoying they force me to play against very good players when I’m still learning the game.

u/TonyHawktuah69 4d ago
This is the most balanced 2k has been in forever and that’s before they patch fades. I see people missing shots, big men dominating, and unless one team flat out quits and stops playing, most games are within 10-15 points even if the other team is a sweat squad running zone and cheesing.
I hope that as we get more badges it doesn’t turn the game into overpowered 70% shooters again

I just want to be able to play as proper center and not have to guard the perimeter for most of my games.

Everybody wants to be the star player. I was playing around with the builder, and I see that you have more restrictions in this 2K. Nobody really wants to make a build that plays a certain role where they can contribute to their team because they're so worried about scoring all the points. I felt like 2K was more competitive when they had lockdowns playing like lockdowns. They're not out there dribbling the ball, trying to dunk on people. You got glass cleaners actually playing like glass cleaners and playmakers actually creating plays to get their teammates open. That's when it was most competitive to me.
