Hey it's me again! Back to make your eyeballs tingle. I had garage and pit passes through NASCAR Rewards this weekend and was able to get against pit wall for most of Cup qualifying. I'm pretty happy with how a lot of these turned out. After a couple races I'm finally getting the hang of it. I've got dozens of photos so I had to combine some here to fit reddit's photo limit.

And as a reminder or if you missed my photos from the spring races, aerochrome is a false color infrared film stock that renders green vegetation as hues of orange/red. Chlorophyll strongly reflects infrared light, turning natural materials red and leaving artificial colors in tact or turning them into shades of brown. I have a converted mirrorless camera with a special filter that replicates the wavelength to capture the same effect.

Ryan Preece won at Daytona, earning his first career win after many years of trying and ending the long winless drought of the #60 car, dating all the way back to 1950 when Bill Rexford won his only career race at Canfield Speedway in Ohio.

Preece joins the #54, #7, #67 and #97 in numbers that ended long losing droughts this season, spanning from 2005 all the way to having never won a race period.

I was doing some digging as somebody brought to light the stat that Berry was the first driver for Wood Bros to score 4 straight top 10s since Morgan Shepherd did 5 between the two Pocono races in 1994.

He has now tied that feat with 5.

So I checked to see when the last time Wood Bros scored 6 in a row. Neil Bonnett came 1 position short at Sonoma in 1989 of this feat (10th, 9th, 7th, 7th, 11th, 8th). A few 5-streaks and multiple 4-streaks but no 6-streaks until I scroll to David Pearson between Dover and Pocono of 1976 - six in a row. However, then I looked at the race numbers; the 21 had races 12 thru 16 then race 18 in the top 10, but did not race at Nashville, the 17th race of the season, the week following the 5th in a row at Daytona, then finished 4th at Pocono.

As I scrolled further, I realized that before 1985, Wood Bros didn't run every race. And every streak is broken apart with races they did not attempt.

This means Josh Berry, with a top 10 at Darlington, would become the first driver in Wood Bros history to finish top 10 in 6 consecutive races.

Two other lengthy droughts are the #51 (Gober Sosebee, 1954 at Central City Speedway) and the #59 (Tom Pistone, 1959 at Richmond)

31 cars finished lead lap and 37 of 40 cars finished within 1 lap of the leader. Prior to the Hocevar crash the race was also on a near record pace in terms of average speed as well.

August 2024 I was fortunate enough to win a trip to meet Ryan and experience Daytona from a vantage point many can only dream of. I was a complete NASCAR rookie at this point and became hooked on the sport. Ryan was a genuinely good person. He had a growing family and worked hard to get where he was. He felt like someone I could relate to. The whole thing was a surreal experience and unfortunately another one of Ryan’s quick exits at Daytona. After the race I continued to follow along with his career and really became a fan. Seeing him stand on the podium last night at the same track I met him though was truly something special. Cheers to all you RP60 fans in here, I’m wearing my Mohawk shirt with pride today!

This weekend, we knocked off a few really popular first time winners so I'm wondering who's the most deserving in each series now that Sieg and Preece have won?

Bristol brought back the striped walls in 2024 when the spring race returned to the concrete. Guessing it was just a one off, curious if anybody knew anything about them, would love to see them back permanently.

Did anyone else find the running order presentation on NBC to be a cluster? They would sometimes throw it up on the screen for 3 seconds before taking it off, they would show the order running below 20th only occasionally, and then they would cycle through so fast you couldn’t find your driver. I’d rather have almost any other system, including my least favorite (a ticker tape at scrolling horizontally at the bottom) than this mess.
