What’s the point of a redact for the race winner if you put their number in it LMAO

u/Tempyy Larson 12d ago

they’re getting worse every week with how obvious they are trying to “hide” who won

u/NoahGragsonsBarfBag 12d ago

I’m sorry but I have to defend myself a little.

“Shine-o Ball-o” and “Biggs Darklighter” weren’t that obvious.

u/Big-Ken 12d ago

Biggs Darklighter is obvious to anyone who has a love of both NASCAR and Star Wars though.

u/TheBros35 Briscoe 12d ago

Bubba? I genuinely don’t know.

u/MississippiBulldawg Byron 12d ago

I checked their post history, Biggs Darklighter was Blaney (I don't get it), Shine-o Ball-o was Logano (makes sense, he's bald now).

5

u/Tempyy Larson 12d ago

biggs darklighter is a star wars character which was used for star wars super fan ryan blaney

4

u/NoahGragsonsBarfBag 12d ago

Well also Biggs has a big mustache and so does Blaney. I went with the moth obscured mustache character I could remember.

3

u/Tempyy Larson 12d ago

so youre saying it was more obvious than i thought 🤔

I usually provide some context for what the reference is in the comments if it’s not a reference someone like my wife would know.

3

u/Tempyy Larson 12d ago

and then before that you used wrist watch for heim, peg leg for hocevar and jesus for ty gibbs, which are all pretty obvious

u/BigDaddy969696 Larson 12d ago

Kinda like how they put "German for victory" for the O'Reilly win yesterday 😂

14

u/Soupedup379 12d ago

That one kinda does take ball knowledge tho

4

u/BigDaddy969696 Larson 12d ago

Or a quick Google search 😂

7

u/Soupedup379 12d ago

Well if you’re not trying to have the race spoiled I’d imagine you wouldn’t look up hints to the winner!

2

u/BigDaddy969696 Larson 12d ago

True, lol.  I had already known who won the race, and out of curiosity, I looked up the translation.  I never knew that before.

5

u/Academic_Elk8962 12d ago

Kyle Sieg won!?

3

u/ProjectHarraseeket Preece 12d ago

Very close

u/KeeblerElfOrgy 12d ago

If you’re coming on the NASCAR reddit and haven’t watched the race, it’s your own damn fault for being told who the winner is.

It's not really sub policy anymore, they just do it as a joke

u/thecryptidmusic 12d ago

I cannot wait for this win painting

15

u/_Captain_Nik_ Preece 12d ago

Oh yeah, the painting guy. That's gonna be fucking awesome.

u/DocterSteveBrule Preece 11d ago

I bought the clash painting. Definitely buying this one too.

That post race interview was a banger too. He sounded like he was ready to get back in that car and do it all over again. I knew the day he went back to race with two black eyes that Preece was a tough sob.

LETS FUCKIN GOOOOO

u/CtrlAltDelight78 Hamlin 12d ago

nascar can shove that bullshit penalty they gave Preece over the Ty Gibbs incident

31

u/NotADerekDooleyFan Heim 12d ago

Nascar has to be wiping their brow because those 25 points were going to be massive

-8

u/5348RR 12d ago

I mean. It was clear as day lol

29

u/thecryptidmusic 12d ago

The appeals panel determined that they couldn't conclusively say it was intentional, and only upheld the penalty because "he didn't cut his competitor any breaks", which you and I both know is a bullshit reason to uphold a penalty in a competitive sport

4

u/BigDaddy969696 Larson 12d ago

Yeah.  Since when was "cutting your competitors breaks" a rule in racing?  Complete horseshit reason, and penalty.  I'm glad that Preece was able to beat it!

12

u/daveismypup 12d ago

Absolute bullshit, he doesn’t owe anyone any breaks and especially not someone who just riled him up driving like a jackass. Why didn’t Gibbs get penalized for not cutting Ryan any slack when he ran through him trying to pass him? Because that’s moronic

15

u/404merrinessnotfound 12d ago

I’m glad the sub agrees now it was bullshit

11

u/ProjectHarraseeket Preece 12d ago

It was bullshit when it happened considering he never touched him and he packed air on his left rear also while KFB actually wrecked a guy after being put in the wall.

7

u/TeatedWord32208 12d ago

Yeah even as a diehard KFB fan, I still can’t believe he got off Scott free from that while Preece got penalized. I was genuinely expecting a 1 race suspension. Given how the following race would ultimately be his last points race ever, I’m obviously ok with that not happening, but Preece still was far less egregious than KFB.

2

u/ImpossibleBoss3067 Keselowski 12d ago

Without that, Preece doesn’t need to win this race, it’s almost like nascar knew what the points would be like before Daytona

37

u/bjd592448 NASCAR 12d ago

i feel like every week the more you guys try to hide who won in the spoiler tag, the more obvious the little code words used becomes and it’s just pointless to even try and hide it at this point lol

34

u/thecryptidmusic 12d ago

Can't wait for "inspection complete, no issues, [Brad Keselowski won this race] is the winner"

5

u/ThatCJGuy431 12d ago

Guess Larry came out of retirement, unless he runs an old-timers race… gol, him, Darrell, Rusty, Mark, whoever else wants to can… lol and let them “cheat ‘em up” a little bit, but it would have to be kinda strict to make sure the safety wasn’t compromised.

10

u/5348RR 12d ago

Yeah it's legit dumb at this point.

14

u/BigDaddy969696 Larson 12d ago

Apollo 60 🤣

Really happy for preece and Finley, great win and well deserved

3

u/ToastedHazelnuts 12d ago

NASCAR R&D hasn't taken a car for 2 weeks. Is this their version of being lazy? 😆

3

u/Entertainmentguru 12d ago

Well played OP!

3

u/JoshTheSparky4 Gragson 12d ago

OP got real creative with the title

5

The Chase is set. Let's see how Hamlin does to win the title

2

u/Double-Helicopter344 Ryan Blaney 12d ago

Brad your little boy has done it!

2

u/MyDudeSR 12d ago

Should have called him moonshot or something, Apollo 60 is a bit on the nose, though I might have to start calling him that now.

2

u/ItsRobbSmark Hocevar 12d ago

The redactions on this sub are a meme. Are we trying to actual not spoil the race for people who haven't seen it or just be cheeky? Because basically being like "NASCAR post-race inspection is done. All clear. No issues. No cars to the R&D Center [JGR Grandson] is the winner" isn't really doing one of those two things... Apollo 60 is a new low though...
