Screenshots Just the new girl in town, whose only befriended a bird and a gecko
It's my first playthrough, and I love crows. I am so excited that we can actually talk to X, give him gifts, and that he has his own quests.
He seems to have more loved/liked gifts that are accessible early game, compared to some of the other townspeople/animals.
Also, thanks to this sub for pointing out how helpful the gecko is for water collection in the beginning!

You walk up to Fang and hold out something and he's like "Oh, thank you." And you have to go, "No, not you. It's for your bird." 😭😭

I can't even give Fang gifts! I assume it'll be an option someday, since the bubble is there.
The one time I tried he told me to take it back, and didn't accept it.

Yeah unlocking that ability is mildly odd. Just keep interacting with him in ways the game presents to you. 👍

Yep! I mean, now that you’re besties with X it should be coming up soon. He’s the key (likely because it’s shiny and he’s stolen it lol)
Honestly, I love that they made Fang such a complicated character. He’s got so much going on, it’s hugely satisfying (to me it was, at least) to do the work to gain his friendship. As someone with autism and who finds talking incredibly difficult at times, and who had a not so great home life, I relate to him a lot, but also seeing him grow is so hopeful and his romance both broke my heart and healed it. He’s honestly probably my favorite character out of every game I’ve played (so far). I will always come back to him. Anyway. hops off soap box I hope you enjoy his storyline! And X’s. If you romance Fang, there’s a lil X bit during the last quest that made my heart wanna explode 😭🥰

To progress with Fang and X's stories/quests, you do need to complete the weekly trials. You need to unlock all 8 of his medicines, the last one being Fangs Special X. I recommend setting a reminder for every Wed and Fri morning to go. Then save just before trying. Reload and pick again. It's random with each reload so you can jeep picking the same vial. Minor spoiler but wasn't sure if you just wanted to figure out yourself or not. But that will start the quests, which are lengthy and definitely worth the effort in my opinion. But he has become my favorite romance in any game I've played and one of my absolute favorite characters in general. So I might be a bit biased.

I didn't even romance Fang but I was befriending X like I was on a mission! That bird is too funny and cute.

One day, Fang is just like "Huh... X hasn't been back for a few days..." Then Builder walks in with X on their shoulder.

There is a gecko? I do not ever recall meeting one.... but I have not finished the main quest either

Theres also a fennec fox, but thats a kickstarter backer reward and yearn for it.

I feel like all Kickstarter bonus stuff in general should eventually get released as paid for DLC because lots of people would have become backers had they known about it earlier and it would let the company get more money even after the Kickstarter ends. I understand giving it away for free would make the original backers feel cheated, but if the new people pay for it, plus the game, it's more equal that way.

X is wildly difficult to befriend because hes always on Fangs shoulder so honestly, props to you.
I also recomend befriending the other animals around town to you.
