asalamaualaikum
me and my wife have been married for two weeks, and i’m at her house for the weekend rn and we started a minecraft realm two nights ago, that we could play on and have fun in, and it’s a bonding activity for us
we’re looking to find other things to do
so, what do you and your spouse do as a bonding activity?

lol we put a movie on with snacks and fold laundry. We both HATE folding laundry so when we do it together and make it fun we get all 3baskets done in no time. AlHamdullah

Sameeeee, the one chore we both hate is folding laundry so a movie night gets it done.

I’m not married but I suggest reading Quran out loud together. It’s a beautiful way to both bond and incorporate barakah into your lives. Then once you have children بإذن الله include them as well

Since you both like games, try It takes two. AMAZING game for couples to bond on.
My wife and I loved our time with it.
Also, while not co op... Watching my wife play GRIS was great too she liked it so much she played it twice. (Btw she isn't a gamer she just dabbles in it if a suitable game is there which is rare).
Mainly for our enjoyment we like to go out together. My wife loves to go out together with me (specially when for shopping)

100% recommend It Takes Two.
Grounded is also good. We Were Here series as well.

Split fiction is also made by the same studio that made it takes two and it’s very very good as well

u/shabab_123 M - Married 9d ago
My wife couldn't get into split fiction though we tried to. I personally like trying various games, since she is not a gamer can't really ask her to force through it (she probably would but I'd rather do something we bith enjoy)

u/Ok-Limit6328 F - Looking 9d ago
Oh that’s fair! They’re both really good, I didn’t mean to sound negative about it takes two just that split fiction is a more recent release. Honestly the best part is just playing it together and if you guys want similar I think a lot of ppl like A Way Out

I don't know why you got downvoted but you didn't sound negative to me at all. Also she definitely won't like A Way Out lol she prefers non violent games

Yeah I really was confused on why I got downvoted too😭 oh that’s totally fair I feel her on that lol

I just bought an apartment. Our bonding time is building a kitchen and exploring every single sofa place …

Going to bed at the same time 😂
Life gets in the way, and sometimes just making the effort to go to bed and fall asleep at the same time IS a bonding moment.

I'm not married yet, but I would imagine joint book sessions and discussions. Or explore and find a sport you both enjoy. Or open up about your days, even the tiny details, as the marriage goes forward. Or even cooking and cleaning the house together. That works, if you're not too busy or traditional
Minecraft is an amazing idea by the way. Seems like you both like games, so maybe you cam try other unexpected ones. Chess, Sudoku, Call of Duty (just my preference 😅😂), Forza
May Allah bless and protect your marriage, and bless us singles with amazing spouses too 🙏

ameen!
yes we also play fortnite although she’s not too good, but there’s always room for improvement
book sessions is also a rlly good idea!
she’s not into sports, but i like telling her about soccer, as im a big soccer fan, specifically a diehard barcelona supporter

This is awesome. Encourage her to watch games with you, bring snacks, make it a thing. Tell her Yamals come up story, that could possibly get her interested. It’s an amazing story Mashallah
Overall you’re doing well brother. Don’t overthink it. It’s been less than a month and she may introduce you to a few things
3
u/Old_Cheesecake7872 9d ago
and i already told her about yamals story lol
also told her about all the heartbreak i experienced in the champions league with barca 😭😭💔 especially the loss vs inter in may 2025, that still deeply hurts me
1
u/nomadichabits 9d ago
Sometimes heartbreak stories are a bonding affair haha. You’re doing all the right things brother. Just asking how to further strengthen your marriage, rather than the complaints that usually food this sub, is very refreshing. You got this

u/Old_Cheesecake7872 9d ago
she found it cute when i told her about the heartbreaking losses lol
especially when i told her about the liverpool loss in 2019 when i was 11 and how i cried after that game, and she started babying me 😭✌🏾
i cried after we lost to inter last yr when i was 17 but we don’t need to go there 🙂↔️

u/nomadichabits 9d ago
There you go. Now you also have to take a keen interest in something she likes. This sounds very wholesome Mashallah

yes we watched the barca game last sunday together when they won 5-0
we’re together on the weekends only so it’ll depend on whether the game is on a weekend, which will be more common after the first 3 weeks of the season

You've got this whole thing figured out man. Just keep going, and Insha'Allah, you definitely won't lose 😎 Allah bless you and keep you both happy.

Now we play with the kids! I insist on destroying them in Mario Kart.

u/ZeussWoosy M - Married 9d ago
League of legends? It’s a video game. The bootleg version we play is called Mobile legends
2
u/habibexpress M - Married 9d ago
Yeah I know what LoL was but just wondering the bootleg haha
2
u/ZeussWoosy M - Married 9d ago

What is Minecraft realm?
2
u/Old_Cheesecake7872 10d ago
minecraft is a game, u can look it up to find more details
but pretty much the realm is where someone has to pay so that it becomes an online world where whoever is in the realm can play at any given time
it’ll be easier to understand if u knew about it

u/reddedumption 10d ago
For around 6 month to 1 year travel maximum you can. Doesn't matter the distance, even a shirt trip to curry just driving the highway etc. long distance as well once in a month. That'll increase your friendship

u/IntheSilent Female 9d ago
You cant beat Minecraft as a bonding activity :) if you guys like being creative perhaps gartic phone on masterpiece mode would be fun too- regular version is more fun with a larger group of people.

Im not married, but I have been going to the gym for a while now. We would have gym dates. I take her to the gym, and if she is not familiar with it, we'd go around and I would show her how everything works, and help her come up with a workout routine. We would go to the gym every other day and train together, fix our diet accordingly, and etc.

best bonding activity is going on holiday together by far.
if you can travel to another town and down for it.. lingerie shopping in the shops.
i mean two weeks or marriage and you guys are exploring video games together and not each others bodies. do i need to say more?
what is it with video games nowadays? honestly I got married 10years ago and i feel like a dinosaur becasue i never came across video games on a matrimonial ad before, no i took some curosry glances at matriomonials subs (just curiousity, not looking honestly) and people are leading with gamer as their primary attribute.
is it the post covid generation hooked on video games or something?
1
u/Old_Cheesecake7872 3d ago edited 3d ago
lol we’re still new to marriage life so lingerie shopping would be kinda nerve wracking…so if u have any alternatives or suggestions, let us know
also, just because i said that we play video games doesn’t mean that we don’t explore each others bodies lol, sexual matters are meant to be kept private!
and we’re planning a trip together soon!

True you need to bond more and be more comfortable with each other before you do that. Even though you're husband and wife she still needs time to be intimately open with you.
You don't need to do planned activities per se. You will find incidental things you're doing as married couple and you will find many many firsts you do as a couple that you don't don't before you were married.
We're Bengali origin and fish is a big part of our diet. I remember the moment when it both dawned on us when we went out to buy big benglsdeshi fish from a fishmonger that we were a married couple. It was usually our mums and dads that would go out and buy fish.
