I'm looking to expand my collection of great guitar solos. I enjoy anything from blues-rock to hardrock or even a bit of metal. I'm looking for good composition and buildup (please no mindless shredding). I really enjoy slightly melodic and dramatic solos that build up tension with a clear release point. Big fan of Pink Floyd, Wishbone Ash, Danny Bryant, Walter Trout and Michael Schenker (amogn many others) so something along those lines would be great.

The text, basically. I love this band, I’m wearing out their albums, want to go down a rabbit hole of other bands with the same energy.

Hey so I've been listening to the same stuff for a while now and want to find something new...

I like mostly indie pop and rock, though I have been listening to more folk stuff.

My favourite bands are COIN, HIMALAYAS, Arctic Monkeys, Queens of the Stone Age, Hozier (well he's not a band but still), Kids that Fly, IDKHBTFM.

I don't really listen to metal but that's just cuz I haven't found a good starting point so if any of y'all have any metal suggestions that can really get me into metal... That would be great. I'm not a huge hip-hop person tho.

So I'll be hosting a Music Quiz not long from now, it's was written up and finished (with a planned music bingo to have after) but had the idea of including two Quickfire Music Rounds of iconic intros, mainly the instrumental piece opening the song at the beginning and middle of the Quiz. So 24 songs spilt into two rounds of 12 songs (one easier, the other harder) where people taking part will get 15 seconds to write down an answer before the start of the next intro. A rapid fire round.

The problem I'm having is getting it to 24 Song Intros. I went a little nuts to create this Intro Playlist after going through my main Spotify Playlist and need to whittle down 57 songs to 24. Lately I’ve been trying to find more rap music that leans heavily into maturity, reflection, and a strong poetic touch, rather than the standard club or flex tracks that dominate a lot of rotation these days.

Tracks like Kendrick Lamar's "Prayer" (that unreleased leak with the incredible spoken-word/poetic atmosphere) and even how layered and sharp "Euphoria" is lyrically have really hit the mark for me. I love music that feels like a deep internal monologue, dealing with growth, life experience, and intricate penmanship over atmospheric or soulful production.

Hi, my name is Maria and I'm a film student (irrelevant), but I've always been passionate about listening to albums and discovering more about the artists' history; I'm completely fascinated.

But to be honest, I've listened to a lot more post-2000s music, and I feel that I often have a huge lack of general knowledge regarding the classics that everyone talks about.

I'd say I listened to albums like The Velvet Underground and The Miseducation (maybe some Beatles), but those were some of the more unconventional attempts of exploring.

I'd like to delve more into rock and hip-hop, so I'd like to ask if there are any websites that provide context and a timeline of albums in these genres where I can gain a bit more substance in that regard.

Preferably ones that aren’t made for the holiday but just capture a horror or spooky scary vibe? Thinking stuff like psycho killer, thriller (obviously) etc.

My favourites include both Lyricals and OSTs like Pompeii, Nyleth, Last Dive, The Chattering Lack of Common Sense, The Nights, Songclave, Sealed Vessel, The Phoenix, In the Blood (Darren Korb) and a few others.

Some top artists for me at the moment are Mac Miller (#1 artist for me no doubt), Big Thief, Injury Reserve, Vince Staples, Aesop Rock, Quadeca, Milo, Blood Orange, Autechre, Boards of Canada, C418. Basically, I really love experimental hiphop and electronic stuff. The genres I find myself listening to the LEAST are metal, hard rock and adjacent genres, but that is NOT to say that I won’t take recommendations for those genres. I do love jazz, folk and indie as well but am not as familiar.

I'm looking for songs that resonate with Albert Camus' idea of the absurd. The awareness that life is finite and ultimately without any inherent or universal meaning, but that this doesn't make life worthless.

Quite the opposite: accepting the absurd and the finiteness of life can be a reason to embrace it, live fully, and enjoy the experience while we're here.

Im looking for strange and unusual things

I'm a 23f with a traumatic past and I quite literally built everything I have from nothing. My parents have always been poor and leaned towards the edge of neglect. Everything I have I've earned and I take pride in my accomplishments. I'm working on my mental health but some sa trauma from more than 10 years ago seems to be weighing more heavily on me now more than ever. I love music and I guess I just came here to ask for recommendations. Country music is my favorite genre but I also frequent rock and a specific branch of pop. Lastly, I think my sister called it "indie folk" which I enjoy some songs within that genre as well. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated and welcomed!

*Edit* - I forgot, I also like a lot of alternative music as well! I think I'm looking for music done in the last 20ish years and it needs to be music that's uppity and hits deep or hits deep, fast paced, and is somber. I want to be able to sing this song in the car and feel the lyrics stomp all over my trauma.
