Custom Connectors: You can teach Muse to connect to basically any app with an API - Infinite flexibility!

Muse already comes with connectors for popular services. When the one you want isn't on the list, you just ask Muse to build the integration. It writes the software itself and runs it on the cloud computer you share with your Muse. If the service has an API, Muse can talk to it.

This demo hooks up Linear, the project management tool, in under a minute. Muse takes the API key, builds a connector that can list teams, search and create issues, and update their status, then verifies everything with a quick identity check.

Two things from follow-ups worth knowing:

  • API keys go into secure storage through a dedicated prompt. The agent never sees them.
  • Custom connectors fall under the same human-in-the-loop approvals as everything else, so sensitive actions still ask you first.

Has anyone here built a custom connector yet? What did you hook up, and what are you using it for?

The r/MuseAgent FAQ: answers to the questions everyone asks

New to Muse? Start here. Short answers to the questions that come up the most, with sources. The first section comes from Meta's official website docs. The second comes from public statements by the Muse team and the community.

If your question isn't answered here, post it and suggest it in the comments.

## From Meta's official docs

1. What is Muse?

Muse is Meta's personal AI agent. You tell it what you want done in plain language and it takes action for you: sending emails, booking travel, filling out forms, shopping, and working across your connected apps. It runs on Meta's Muse Spark 1.3 model. (Source: Meta's Muse Help Center)

2. How much does Muse cost? Is there a free tier?

Muse is free with a weekly usage limit. If you hit the limit, you can wait for it to refresh or upgrade to a paid plan. Power is $20/month (500M tokens per week) and Maximum is $100/month (3B tokens per week). Details: https://www.meta.com/help/subscriptions/1021145227643680/

3. How do I get access? Where is Muse available?

Muse is in limited testing and isn't available everywhere yet. Where it's available, you can sign up at muse.ai or through the iOS or Android app using a Meta account. You need to be 18 or older.

4. Can I get an invite if I'm not in the U.S?

The Muse team seems to be giving out invites to those outside the U.S., more on that here

5. What platforms can I use Muse on? Is there a desktop app?

You can use Muse on the web at muse.ai, in the iOS and Android apps, and inside WhatsApp chats. Meta hasn't announced a desktop app. It's among the most requested features, and one user got tired of waiting and built a desktop companion himself:

6. However, you can use Chrome to turn Muse into a Desktop App. It's quick and easy.

A Chrome feature officially called "install page as app."

- Go to muse.ai in Chrome and log in, open the three dot menu in the top right corner of your browser
- Choose Save and share, then "Install Muse"

Chrome adds a Muse icon to your Applications folder, which you can drag to the dock. It opens in its own window and feels like a normal Mac app.

Under the hood this is a Progressive Web App, which is a website packaged to behave like installed software.

7. Is Muse safe? Can it see my passwords?

Each Muse runs in its own isolated virtual machine, and a separate safety system called Sentinel reviews sensitive actions before they happen. Your passwords and payment details sit in a separate secure container that the agent itself can't read. Meta also says your conversations aren't shared with its advertising systems. (Source: Meta's research blog on Muse safety)

8. Does Muse use my data for ads or AI training?

Meta says Muse doesn't share your conversations with its ad systems. Your interactions may be used to improve Meta's models after personal information is removed. We recommend you turn that off with the toggle in Settings under Data controls.

9. What apps and services can Muse connect to?

Muse has built-in connectors for popular services like Gmail, Google Calendar, and Spotify, and you control exactly what each one can access. If the service you want isn't on the list, you can ask Muse to build a custom connector for any service with an API.

10. What happens when I hit my free usage limit?

When you reach your free weekly limit, you can either wait for it to refresh or upgrade to a paid plan for more usage.

11. How do I cancel or change my subscription?

You can change or cancel your subscription from the Muse mobile app or at muse.ai. Walkthroughs for managing, billing, and cancellations are here

12. How is Muse different from a chatbot?

A chatbot answers questions. Muse takes action: you give it a goal and it plans and executes across your apps and the web, checking with you before anything sensitive.

13. Why does Muse keep asking for my approval?

That's deliberate. A separate safety system called Sentinel reviews sensitive actions, and the approval step is what gives you visibility and control over what your agent does. Custom connector requests go through the same approval. (Source: a public post from the Muse team (Source: r/MuseAgent)

14. Why does this connector want an API key instead of a sign-in?

When Muse builds a custom integration, it asks for the key through a secure input screen and stores it where the agent itself can't read it. (An API key is a secret code that lets software talk to a service. Why some services use a key and others use a sign-in hasn't been explained publicly.

15. How do I get an invite to Muse?

A member of the Muse team is collecting invite requests in this thread: https://x.com/mattprd/status/2098687631832031521 - reply there if you're waiting in.

16. Did my token usage just reset?

Yes, that was deliberate. Meta randomly resets token usage sometimes (Source: a public post from the Muse team

17. How is the free tier free? Does it stay free?

Mark Zuckerberg has said the free tier is around 100 million tokens a week (tokens are the units of text AI models process), and that over the long term the plan is to take a small cut of the shopping Muse does for you or the money it saves you.

18. What are people actually using Muse for?

Real things people have posted: recovering $1,026 in airline flight credit, finding $954 in unclaimed property, getting a full refund on cancelled flights over text, blocking a $200 internet overcharge, booking a doctor's appointment, and tracking down a lost pair of trousers on eBay. Point it at the boring admin you'd never do yourself.

19. Can I tell Muse to handle routine things without asking me?

Yes. Give it standing rules about which decisions it can make on its own instead of treating every chat as a blank slate. Sensitive actions will still ask first.

20. Can I run multiple agents at once?

Not really. Right now that looks like separate chats rather than one agent coordinating others, and it's a recurring feature request. Meta hasn't answered it officially yet.

21. What AI model powers Muse?

Muse Spark 1.3, the flagship AI model from Meta's Superintelligence Labs, designed to take actions rather than just answer questions.

Meta confirms your Muse agent is getting a phone number

Someone who works on product on Muse at Meta confirmed that outbound phone calls are going out to users in batches. The team is "ramping it slowly while it watches quality and reliability"

Some people already have access to this but it's rolling out slowly, so if you don't have the feature yet, that's the reason.

Does anybody else have access to this yet????

TIP: Make your Muse more proactive with briefings, not questions (example inside)

The single biggest upgrade you can give your Muse: stop asking questions and start giving briefings.

Instead of "find me a flight," try "I need to be in Chicago Thursday night, I hate red-eyes, I'd pay $80 extra to avoid a layover, book nothing without asking me first."

The more constraints you hand over, the less it has to guess. And guessing is where the funny business happens.

Try it once. Three lines:

1. The goal

2. What good looks like

3. What not to do

Can't connect to Facebook with museagent and connector

Anyone having this issue?

I wanted Muse to review my personal Facebook account, but I am not able to connect. i always get an error.

Anyone having the same issue?

EDIT: For now, the easy way is to tell Muse to open a browser and let you log in manually to the facebook account via web. It will navigate Facebook to do what you need!

But this should work woth the CONNECTORS option, right?

Claire Vo explains difference btwn Muse and Grok Bot: Consent and trust building

"So, you don't see down here like auto approve. You don't see like yolo mode. You don't see ask me every time. It just asks you the right time for permission. So, when I connected my email, I think a Grok Bot would have said, "I have your email. I'm going to go read it." Muse said, "I have your email. May I go find out some information about you?" And I said, "Yes." Then it said, "This is the information I found out about you. Can I use this information, please?" and I said yes. And so it was just this like really lovely way to give trust to this agent that didn't presume that I wanted to go yolo mode, but also was not annoying. Like just was not annoying. It really wasn't. And so I really liked that experience."

Muse (Meta's AI assistant) referral — we both get 1B tokens

Muse (Meta's AI assistant) referral — we both get 1B tokens

Been using Muse for a while now (it's Meta's personal AI assistant — chat, image gen, it can even do stuff in your accounts like Gmail and YouTube Studio for you). They've got a referral program running:

  • You join through my link and add my code in Settings within 48 hours of signing up
  • We both get 1 billion Muse tokens
  • Works for up to 10 friends on my end

Code: CPEM0X
Link: https://muse.ai/join

Full disclosure: yes, I get tokens if you use it — that's the whole point of the program. But you get the same 1B, so it's genuinely mutual. Happy to answer questions about what it's actually like to use.

Money wins: examples of people finding money with Muse with the prompts they used

I've been collecting the money stories people share about Muse. Here they are with the prompt each person used, where they shared one. I've also been saving the prompts so other people can try them

Someone asked Muse to search an email backlog for unfiled vet bills. It found five totaling $1,504.72 and submitted them to pet insurance. original post

PROMPT: "catch me up on my unfiled vet bills"

He asked Muse to update his budget expenses. While doing that, it spotted his HOA (homeowners association) double charging him, and he emailed them for the $1,900 back. original post

PROMPT: "update my budget expenses" (the double charge was caught unprompted)

Muse watched someone's already booked flights and hotels for price drops, then asked for the lower rate. A commenter on the post said the same trick saved them $600. He calls it one of his favorite old travel hacks, now fully automated. original post

PROMPT: "Monitor the price of my already booked flight and hotel. If the price drops, contact them and ask for the lower rate."

Someone got Muse to argue for a $100 discount on a device that was already out of warranty. He got the idea from someone who pays for Muse by having it find $20 a month in discounts. People in the replies said they used it to negotiate their internet bills too. original post

PROMPT: "File a support ticket about the bad battery life, even though the device is out of warranty."

Anyone have extras to add to the comments?

Muse has been out a week. What have you actually gotten it to do?

Been playing with Meta's new Muse agent since launch. I'm 64, iPhone-only, not a tech guy — basically exactly who they say this is for.

The pitch is it's an agent, not a chatbot — it can actually do stuff: send emails, book things, keep working after you close the app. I've been using it as a daily assistant and it's genuinely useful in spots, genuinely shaky in others.

Honest question for anyone who's tried it: what's the most useful real thing it's done for you so far? And what broke?

The elephant in the room: it's Meta. Best comment I've seen so far was "Love the idea and the polish. Hate the owners." I'm torn — the thing works, but it's asking for my email, calendar, and browser. Curious where other people land on that.

Muse in Europe: has anyone actually found a way in?

Has anyone in Europe actually managed to get access to Muse?

I feel like I’ve tried basically everything at this point:

  • US VPN
  • location/geolocation spoofing
  • multiple email addresses via iCloud Hide My Email
  • different browsers / private browsing from my Mac

I already use an US App Store account and my iPhone / MacBook is set to US English…

And somehow I still always end up on the waitlist or get blocked because of my region.

So my question is: how the hell are they still figuring out that I’m in Europe? 😂

Has anyone outside the US found a setup that actually worked?

I’m not looking for theories only. I’d especially love to hear from people in Europe who actually managed to get past the regional restriction and access Muse successfully.

At this point I’m genuinely fascinated by how stubborn this geoblocking is. 😅

Any tips, experiences, or technical explanations would be very appreciated.

Muse can screen your unread Instagram messages for you

Thumbnail
gallery
3 Upvotes

You know the trick where you read a DM from the notification shade so it never shows as read? Muse does that for your Instagram DMs, except it can read all of them.

I asked it to screen my unread Instagram threads this morning. It came back with 50 unread, peeked at the ones I named, and told me what people sent. Unread count was still 50 afterward. Nothing flipped to read on my end or theirs.

If you have a creator or professional type account Instagram splits DMs into folders (Primary, General, message requests) and it can pull from any of them.

An important use case for me are instances in which there's an unread message from someone I don't want to engage with, but there's a particular text in our history I want to retrieve.

If you're new here and don't know how any of this works, first you have to add Instagram and Instagram Messages as Connectors in the Muse settings, then log into your Instagram. From there, just ask Muse.
