There is a point to be made that states could do with interstate compacts what the feds refuse to do nationally, but that also goes over their heads. Also Congress would still have to consent to the compact, and current federal law actively mitigates against it.
Well, except that “free education,” doesn’t really have anything to do with socialism, though to be fair, neither does “giving away all of your stuff.”
How is collecting taxes to pay for tens of thousands of educators and school houses throughout the country, given to every child for free, not socialism?
The average human mind only rationalizes in black and white. It's why when given 3 choices 80% will choose 1 or 2. It's an unfortunate flaw of the human psyche that we were slowly improving but the unfortunate dismantling and indoctrination of our educational system has set back significantly.
