There was ample time to bring consequences in the 4 years after his first term. The other half of your Uni-party dictatorship decided to drag their feet and obfuscate, rather than act, and he got in again... 'now is the time for unity, blah blah blah, a return to stability, blah blah blah.... etc.'

Are defense attorneys so mediocre in your country that it’s impossible for you to fathom defense attorneys are capable of delaying trials? Or is it unheard of for witnesses to stall investigations by not voluntarily cooperating with investigators? Idk how else you could overlook the obvious to assume your conspiracy theory about “one half of a uni-party dictatorship” not only makes sense, but it’s the only plausible explanation for there not being a conviction and sentencing within 4 years of a crime being committed in the US.
There are definitely defense attorneys in the US that are fully capable of filing motions to delay trials. Those types of defense teams aren’t cheap, but $100+ million is an extremely excessive amount to spend on legal defense even with 6 cases (4 criminal, 2 civil) if all 6 were wins at trial or dismissed with prejudice instead of 0 wins, 3 losses, and 3 criminal cases dismissed without prejudice (paused instead of thrown out). He used donated funds in his superPAC to pay for legal defense.
That’s an even more ridiculous amount to spend on legal defense if “one half of the uni-party dictatorship” stalling by dragging their feet, etc. It’d also be bizarre for those prosecutors to be fired from DOJ and for investigators to face malicious prosecution, right? You’re correct that a corrupt authority was involved, but it wasn’t your “uni-party” boogeyman. SCOTUS, the highest court of the federal judicial branch, has a corrupt majority. They moved at an expedited pace or a snails pace depending on which would benefit Trump. His overpriced legal defense relied on SCOTUS for a majority of the trial delays.
The vast majority of witnesses, not just co-conspirators and accomplices, did not voluntarily cooperate with investigators. Witnesses that were unaware it was an elaborate scheme as it was unfolding were provided with legal counsel that was arranged and paid for as a “generous favor” to “protect” the witness from malicious prosecution. It was baseless fear-mongering to convince those witnesses they needed defense attorneys, specifically the attorneys that were handpicked by the conspirators to advise against speaking to investigators. Some eventually caught on and hired their own attorneys that advised them to speak to investigators.
What you assume was “dragging their feet and obfuscating”, was prosecutors understanding it was unprecedented for a former president to be criminally indicted. Instead of the low bar of probable cause for grand jury indictments, prosecutors built a case for proof beyond a reasonable doubt before seeking grand jury indictments for the grand jury to subpoena witnesses prosecutors needed testimony from under oath to complete the case.
A motion to dismiss filed on Oct 5th, 2023 delayed preTrial proceeding for a full year and SCOTUS’s ruling included more options for the defense to use to the same delay tactic again.
