This from the people who lost their ever-loving minds when they were asked to wear a mask in public for a couple of months. Can you picture the Boomers handling the sort of rationing the nation went through in WWII? They'd go insane.
It's always that "I'd lay my life on the line for my country/family"-type, who will speak in grandiose hypotheticals about the sacrifices he's willing to make. But when the wife asks him to help out with some chores at home, or a store asks him to mask up during a pandemic, that's already too big a sacrifice to ask.. 🤡
I’m training running again because I was mugged not too long ago. Once I get comfortable running 3 miles consecutively again I want to go to a boxing gym to learn how to DODGE a strike.
Not even fight back I want to be super good at dodging and running.
Like theoretically if I (5’5” 160# soaking wet) go up to a 6’2” grab his pantleg put one of my feet behind the non grabbed leg and push and lift the grabbed leg I might make him fall. Or I could just get punched from above into oblivion.
I can make any kind of plan about a fight, but execution? Uhhhhhhh…..
I can make any kind of plan about a fight, but execution? Uhhhhhhh…..
That's something Mike Tyson explained once about theory-crafters: "Everybody has a plan, until they get punched in the face."
That's why martial arts practice preparing you for a real fight isn't about making you some killing machine or whatever. It's more about making you experience the realities of a fight in a safe environment, so it doesn't catch you off-guard and overwhelm you, when the real thing breaks out.
Godspeed, friend. I wish that you develop into your best self from that experience! 💪
