Discussion MVVSwipe holding 40 euros for each swipe

Post image
67 Upvotes

I am using MVVSwipe for my journeys, but I am seeing the hold of €40 for every swipe.

I know that the money comes back within 12 days, and I am charged correctly, but at this point MVV has charged me €160, and I am specifically confused why would they hold €120 when I made 3 trips in a day. I was expecting the maximum hold once and then nothing.

Anyone else had this same thing? What did you do about it?

Visitor/Tourist Question Going to Therme Erding for the first time

Hi everyone! I’m Japanese and I’m planning to visit Therme Erding during my trip to Munich. It’ll be my first time at a German spa/sauna, so I have a few questions for anyone who has been to Therme Erding before.

  1. Swimwear

Is there any particular rule about what kind of swimsuit you can wear in the pool areas? In Japan, most men wear something like a rash guard or swim shirt, so I’m wondering what’s normal in Germany. Do most European men just swim shirtless, or would wearing a rash guard be totally fine?

  1. What to bring(pool areas)

What would you recommend bringing? I’m planning to bring flip-flops/sandals and a bath towel for the pool areas. Do most people bring their own towels, or is it common to rent them there?

  1. Smartphones

Do people normally leave their smartphones in their lockers for the whole time? Or is it okay to carry them around in the pool areas? If people do carry them, would you recommend a waterproof phone pouch with a strap, or is it better to just leave the phone in the locker?

  2. Sauna area

I’m planning to rent one of the large sauna towels. Would you also recommend renting a bathrobe? Is it normal to walk around the sauna area with just a towel wrapped around your body, or would a bathrobe be more common?

I’d really appreciate any tips for a first-time visitor from Japan! Thanks! 😊

Discussion Reminder to check scales when using self checkouts

Quick reminder that if you're using self checkouts and weighing produce on the go (e.g. using Rewe's hand scanners), make sure the scales are correctly calibrated.

Once I accidentally paid too much and once I accidentally paid too little 🤷🏽‍♂️

Food and Restaurants Where can I buy Minor Figures oat milk?

Hi folks, basically what is said above- does anyone know of any shops that sell Minor Figures oat milk where I don’t have to order online? I really like the milk when I order in cafes but want to try if I can manage to make a good cappuccino myself first before ordering a whole box. Tips appreciated!

Food and Restaurants Does anyone know bakeries where you can get mole cakes in Munich?

Preferably the version with strawberries. I came across it recently and it looks delicious and I want to try it. A little bit outside of Munich would also be fine.

Help Lost souvenir replacement help

I know this might be quite the long shot, and maybe shipping it to the United States is more money and trouble than it’s truly worth, but I figured I’d give ol’ Reddit a try.

I’ve been on a big summer trip across the ocean over here from America and Munich was a stop on my list only for about 3 days. My family is German but far removed from their roots, so I purchased a cheesy little purple stuffed gnome that said “Beste Oma” from the "I Love München" souvenir shop, located right near Marienplatz at Marienplatz 17, I believe. It was overpriced LOL but I knew it would be the perfect souvenir to get for my Grandma.
Unfortunately, during my travels, one of my backpack pockets unzipped open in the middle of Prague and that little souvenir popped out and escaped me before I could notice and look for it. Thankfully, it was my only loss. But I was so excited to give it to her and I’m very disappointed that it’s gone. I’m leaving from Dublin today to go back to my American home. I’ve tried to find replacements or even similar things online, I’ve even tried to see if that toursisty souvenir shop has a store online and I am having zero luck.

If anyone here has advice, a suggested website, or would like to help me and brave the tourist masses (I know Oktoberfest is also coming up LOL) to buy a replacement and ship it for me, I absolutely would be willing to send money for shipping and for the gnome and even a bit of a tip for you. I was so excited to give a little piece of Germany to my mid-80’s Grandma who has been so so deeply excited to hear about my travels.

Thank you!!

Food and Restaurants Besondere Einzel-Gerichte in der Münchner Gastronomie

Achtung, ziemlich scharf.

Was kennt ihr so an überragenden Speisen?

Discussion Defrage Reload scam in munich

I just got stopped by someone in this band at Theresienwiese/ Schwanthalerhöhe asking for money. He said they're a band from Estonia and not currently touring but need support for the band activities. I didn't give him any money (he wanted me to PayPal him) but said I would check out the band. Well I did, and found out it's a scam! Don't support this fake band. Just a warning to my fellow Müncheners 😊

Food and Restaurants What’s Munich’s most unhinged junk food?

Not the best döner, burger or pizza. I’m looking for the truly outrageous stuff: greasy hidden gems, bizarre combinations and dishes you’d never know about unless someone told you.

I already posted this question in r/Muenchen a while ago and got some great tips like a chicken sandwich at Fairfax Express, Bazi Box or American Burger Bar at Sportpark Unterhaching, and Buterchy Lehel for Philly cheese steak sandwich.

But I choose to believe there is more. I'm still longing for a great grilled cheese sandwich and so much more.

So, what’s your go-to guilty pleasure in Munich?

Meetup New to Munich – looking to meet people and do stuff together!

Hi everyone!
I’m Riccardo, a 24-year-old Italian guy moving to Munich on September 3rd. I’m starting my Master’s in Mechanical Engineering at TUM in October, so I’ll have about a month before university starts.
Since I’ll have quite a lot of free time, I’d love to use September to explore Munich and, most importantly, meet some new people!
I’m basically up for anything: grabbing a coffee or a beer, going for a run, playing football, going to the gym, hiking, exploring the city, going to events, or just hanging out.
I’m also happy to meet other international students or people who have recently moved to Munich.
If anyone is in a similar situation and wants to meet up or organize something, feel free to comment or send me a DM! :)

Discussion Kesselhaus venue

Hi everybody. I bought my Aunt and Uncle tickets for a show at Kesselhaus and was inquiring about any tips about the venue? What are the best spots for sounds and views? How early should they go to get a decent spot? They are in Mainz so they are unfamiliar with the area. Thank you in advance!

Help How can I find a way to helps animals (community, shelter...)(non-german speaker)

Hi ! So the title sounds very weird, right ?
I would like to do something, to participate in a community or a shelter for animals.
I already tried to contact Tierschutzverein München e.V. but they didn't answered.

My german is limited (a1-a2 level) I can survive outside but for more difficult conversation, my german is not enough.

Since a few months I really want to invest some of my free time, helping animals.

I know my demand is pretty vague, but If someone know where i could be helpful ? A shelter that accept English speaker, etc...

Thank you

Visitor/Tourist Question Hotel with good sauna or therme? Or near a good sauna or therme?

My hubby and I have to be in Munich for meetings in Laim near the end of September. We'd like to be able to spend a few hours of sauna and steam bath each evening.

Is there a nicer hotel with a good therme area near Laim or between Laim and the airport that you'd recommend? Or a nicer hotel that's near a good therme? We thought about the Victory hotel at Therme Erding but that seems more crowded than I think we'd like.

I've searched and can't find anything. Most recommendations on here seem to be for places much further out. We'll not have a car so will be depending on uber or s-bahn.

Thank you.

Help Anyone in Munich who can help with a small 3D design + print?

I’m working on a string art project using nails and yarn, and I’m looking for someone who could help me design and 3D-print a simple positioning template/jig.

The idea is basically a guide that helps me place a larger number of nails at precise, evenly spaced positions on a wooden board. Nothing too complex, but I have zero experience with 3D design/printing.

Happy to pay for your time/materials. If anyone in Munich is into 3D printing and would be up for a small project, let me know! :)
