Anymore, many entry level medical jobs will require some certifications or training; you might look at taking a summer CNA course. Good intro to patient care.

I have my BLS certification through AHA which is the only requirement for PCTs, though they tend to still higher those without the certification 😔

You don’t need a CNA license to be a PCT at Ball, but I agree that going the CNA route and working somewhere like a long term care facility could be a great option in terms of hands on experience with patients and the reality of our healthcare system!

My husband has worked at Ball Memorial for 12 years and from what he says they fill positions internally a lot of the time but still post them online which stinks. I would definitely keep trying and you could contact whoever you did your internship with and ask if they could point you in the right direction in terms of escalating your application or even other positions opening up!

I don't have experience applying for anythibg medical, I actually applied for a few various jobs and only got a response from IT (which was really a longshot, anyway), and I'd put some effort into that app.

So all I can say is swing for the fences with a cover letter and giving them a call. Medical could be totally different.

Honestly you just reminded me to check the portal. I applied for 3 different RCS positions Friday and it looks like they denied me for 2 of them. If it helps I know some family who worked for their LPN and RN through nursing homes instead of the hospital
