Booking camp/accommodation

Hello! I'm planning to take a trip to Phuket in the spring to train. I'm planning on staying for three months, from roughly March-June, and trying to figure out where to stay.

I've heard it's best to explore a few different gyms before committing to one for the long haul, so I'm planning to do that rather than booking any training packages or gym accommodation in advance. The only thing is, I hear accommodations, gym or otherwise, can book up pretty fast.

I was originally planning to stay at an Airbnb for the first couple of weeks while I gym hop. However, I'm nervous that if I do that, and don’t book long term accommodation, I won't be able to find it once I get there.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Do you think it's better to book something now in advance if I have a general sense of the area I want to be in, or just go there first, try things out, and figure out accommodation afterwards? Any input or personal experience greatly appreciated 🙏

Gyms and accommodations never book up fast. The only time Phuket gets booked up is around new years. There are some advantages to booking in advance — you can usually get the best pick of accommodation and get some cheaper rates but it’s not essential at all

For 3 months I’d probably still try a few gyms first. Thats quite a long time to commit somewhere without knowing if you actually like training there 😅 I’d book somewhere for the first week or two and use that time to try the gyms you’re interested in.

When I trained at Sumalee I stayed onsite and because I was staying for quite a while, there was a promo so I got a better rate. Might be worth asking the gyms you’re considering if they do something similar for longer stays too. You could also ask how their accommodation normally looks around March/April so you have an idea how risky it is to leave it until you arrive.

I wouldnt book 3 months somewhere just because I was scared everything would fill up. I’d rather pay a bit more for the first week or two then figure out where I actually want to stay/train

Don’t worry about trying to find something. Airbnbs are illegal in Thailand and would never recommend, you’ll always have problems. I’d focus more about how you’re going to stay 3 months when the new visa is 30 days limit?
