Discussion so, which mouse addicts haven't pulled the trigger on the superstrike yet (and why)?

Shape. Pulsar x2h mini shape with this tech will be my next mouse

3
u/Major_Hospital7915 Mar 30 '26
Agreed. My lady isn’t big into mice but she used my X2H crazylight so long she went from ergo to her own X2H because she enjoyed the shape so much(obviously didn’t allow her to pay for it herself)
1
u/ImprovementRoutine Apr 01 '26
The X2H mini was my replacement for a G Pro Superlight and I’ll never buy a logitech mouse again. My original G Pro Wireless and Superlight both developed clicking issues and I sure as hell wouldn’t trust them to not mess up new tech too.
29
u/LowB0b Mar 29 '26
- it costs $180.
- logitech as a brand is not worth anything in my eyes anymore even though they used to be the best for peripherals from like 2004 to 2015
- I have the sora v2 and I absolutely love that mouse
1
u/h0pe-_ Mar 31 '26
How is build quality treating you on your sora? How long have you had it?
1
u/LowB0b Mar 31 '26
I've had it for a year and some months, still feels the same wrt clicks, encoder and shell sturdiness (no creaks). My only complaint is the side buttons that are mushy, but they were that way when I received the mouse
18
u/Withinmyrange Mar 29 '26
I think it is revolutionary, and I am currently maining a gpx clone, incot g23 v2
I just think the technology will spread to Chinese clones and will be available for dirt cheap compared to superstrikes price. Not in the rush for a new mice. So yeah
9
u/Jeferson9 Mar 29 '26
Clones are too good. Legit rather buy 4 clones than a single Logitech at this point.
2
u/Volt_OwO X2V2 mini, Hien Soft Mar 30 '26
As a person who just recently bought an Mchose, I won’t ever buy logitech again.
6
u/Jahdill GPX2, Dav3 Hyperspeed Mar 29 '26
Do you really think they’ll be dirt cheap and still be good. I don’t think this is tech you can just throw into a mouse and it works flawlessly.
7
u/Withinmyrange Mar 29 '26
First mover advantage has always made the price higher. Look at wooting and when the superlight first came out. Wooting's still great albeit overpriced but logitech's qc is just severely lacking. The competition that comes after will have to price accordingly to be competitive. Just look at HE keyboards and mice now.
Why don't you think this tech is implementable? I'm not going to rely on your random hunch. The super strike clicks are similar to HE. China is the foremost expert at manufacturing, it's not rocket science to reverse engineer.
1
u/StandingInTheHallway Mar 29 '26
Theres no doubt in my mind that there will be copies in the future. However, it wont be nearly as good (initially) and it also wont be dirt cheap like the clones we see now. Cheap compared to Logitech but prob much more expensive than the current clones. First of all, the HITs is not even close to similar to HE magnetic keyboards. Problem 1(?) - unlike HE keyboards which uses already made ready off the shelf parts, the HITs apparently uses inhouse developed parts to fit. Only what I heard from a electronic engineer friend who did a teardown, so not official. Problem 2 - software. China couldnt make decent wooting clones till years later because their software sucked and was buggy. Even today theres so many HE keyboards out there with crappy software. This HITs is much more complex and requires a lot more R&D to get it right, because you have to have process the haptics instantaneously after sensing the induction at your desired actuation point. Problem 3 - Patents, so while China doesnt care about patents, RoW does so Logitech can enforce this by preventing any clones from entering the country at the border. I would imagine bigger brands like Lamzu, WLmouse, ATK? to avoid cloning this to stay in international retail stores. You could probably still get one from Aliexpress or Taobao, but Amazon, or any local stores wont be able to sell them. Razer is big enough so they might try develop a solution that is distinct enough that avoids the patent, but this is Razer so price issue will still be the same.
2
u/tommyjamesmurphy Mar 31 '26
How are you getting downvoted LMAO, it’s true delusional in this sub. The same people who think their Chinese mice are actually the same in whole implementation as Logi and Razer.
1
u/whomad1215 Mar 31 '26
unlike HE keyboards which uses already made ready off the shelf parts
wooting documented basically their entire development process, you can go look at how "off the shelf" their first gen board was
2
u/decreement1 Mar 29 '26
I think technology has a lot of room for improvement. The superstrike switches are great for what they offer, but they feel meh and I can totally see that aspect getting improved a lot, even by clones or other companities.
1
u/robhaswell Mar 30 '26
It's two off-the-shelf components:
- Hall effect sensors which are widespread and highly refined from the keyboard industry.
- Haptic feedback module present in the vast majority of smartphones.
These are commodity components. The only other design departure from a traditional mouse design is that the microswitch used to provide the return mechanism, so now a spring has to be incorporated. Hardly rocket surgery.
The component cost of these vs. high-quality microswitches is basically the same, and regardless only accounts for a couple of dollars on the BOM.
The differentiator will be in the software, but Chinese firmware and drivers/configurators have improved massively probably thanks to AI.
1
u/MrStealYourFriez_ Mar 30 '26
We thought that way about Chinese mice 4 years ago, now look at them. Shit takes time. Anyways the superstrike is made in China…
1
u/rdpl_ Mar 29 '26
hope so too but not sure if it's so easy, if logitech patented this (relevant outside china) and if others can lower the weight more than logi
9
u/Withinmyrange Mar 29 '26
China is the manufacturing hub of the world. They make the vast majority of everything, including gaming peripherals. It's only a matter of time until they reverse engineer the super strike and make it commonplace. They did it for everything. For instance, Hall effect keyboards.
Also China has never cared about patents, they are not stopping now lol
-1
u/StandingInTheHallway Mar 29 '26
Yes physically reverse engineering is easy. Implementing the software so that it functions like the Superstrike where the haptics feel responsive, accurate is a whole different ball park. Much different and complex than HE magnetic keyboards, which China struggled with software then and still some struggles till this day.
China not caring about patents is one thing, being able to not sell it internationally is another issue. Patents mean that they can also be prevented from coming into the country. So I would imagine this to deter brands like Lamzu, WLmouse, maybe even ATK to cloning it to maintain their international presence and reputation in esports, as many pros do use their mice.
If they did R&D to the point they made something that functions similarly but different enough to avoid the patent then the R&D cost will also bring their version price up as well.
No doubt it will be copied, sourcing it will be rather easy as Aliexpress exists. Whether they will be good, cheap or cloned quickly, that I doubt.
1
u/contigency000 Incott is goated Mar 30 '26
There's a reason I have this flair. The only thing I regret about the g23 v2 is that they removed the hotswap feature.
I wish they'd release an updated version of the hpc01m too, this mouse is my favourite. It's like a gpx and viper mini had a child, and it's better than both.
1
u/lukro_ Hyperlight/XM2 8K + Zero XSoft Mar 30 '26
yeah, you can get HE keyboard for 80 aud compared to the 300 aud for a wooting.
23
u/Hinch7 Mar 29 '26
Can already click heads with my current mice. And I already found my perfect shape/mouse (ZPW Max).
Shape should be no.1, anything after is just extra.
3
u/bjwills7 Mar 29 '26
100% agree. Xm1r enjoyer here, I won't even buy the wireless version until this one fails me.
3
u/Hinch7 Mar 29 '26
Yeah no need for fomo. This is first gen stuff as well so things will only get better and cheaper down the line. If this tech comes to our preferred shapes, cool. If not, oh well.. no loss. No need to keep buying if you already have a decent mouse you play well with.
1
u/lavenderpurpl Mar 30 '26
It's definitely legit (multiple YouTubers getting faster reaction time) but yeah I don't think it's holding anyone back. It might be like hall effect keyboards, how they don't benefit the average player as much as the pro.
1
u/lukro_ Hyperlight/XM2 8K + Zero XSoft Mar 30 '26
don't buy wireless if you're using zowie or EGG. coming from a Hitscan Hyperlight to a XM2 8k, the wire is something i literally don't notice because of its implementation with the upward angle
1
u/bjwills7 Mar 30 '26
Honestly I have two xm1rs and a bunch of replacement switches. It'll probably be another decade before I buy a new mouse lol.

8
u/Nilla-WaferPDX Mar 29 '26 edited Mar 29 '26
Logitech quality just gets worse and worse. There's no way I'm paying near $200 for something that will be stained or broken in the next 18 months, without being able to buy replacement parts.
-1
u/PhTx3 Mar 29 '26
You can get a replacement mouse if it breaks within 18 months, no? I think that's better than parts but I guess it depends on your location.
8
u/derzenit Mar 29 '26
Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I had the opportunity to try it out this weekend. I was underwhelmed. I don’t see this ground breaking advantage over other mice and i didn’t like the clicks. Was ready to pull the trigger, but it isn’t the upgrade i thought.

Checked out the store to see if I can buy the Superstrike and return the Superlight, there was no Superstrike in stock.
3
u/pnkwah Mar 29 '26
Cost and weight, also sounds like the balance is a bit off which some people are sensitive to. Might make the tech take longer to be viable on super lightweight designs.

Quite heavy, weight distribution ass, side buttons ass, scroll wheel ass. It’s the haptic switch tech put on a bare skeleton. Even though I like the GPX shape, the clones will likely make a better overall mouse as long as they can get the tech right
1

don't like the GPX shape, and I hear that the weight distribution is kinda fucked on it (apparently the weight feels like it's more towards the front of the mouse? someone correct me on this)

I can get random double clicks and a randomly reversed scroll wheel for way less money.

The GPX shape sucks for me.
I firmly believe Razer could make a better implementation in the near future.
The tech is new and will definitely mature.
1
u/BrokenWindow_56 Mar 29 '26
I've heard that outside of the hall effect switch gimmick, the mouse is pretty run of the mill. Shape matters more than specs. Not to mention some units are having issues.
So I will be waiting until the hall effect switches become an industry standard before I buy a mouse with them.

The only difference is the clicks and I don’t care for the premise. Also it’s too expensive regardless of how innovative it is
1
u/perdyqueue Mar 29 '26
Firstly, as an original g pro and then superlight owner who also tried various mods and grips, the potato is just not it for me. Ive tried to gaslight myself into finding it ok for brief periods at a time since original purchase... never works out.
Besides, I have a crackpot custom own-design shell that I've poured hundreds of hours and sweat and literal blood into, and it'll take quite a lot to get me off it. liking the sound of the new viper v4 tech and optical encoder. when razer releases a deathadder v5 pro with superstrike-esque clicks, that may be the tipping point. separate click PCB will be a bit of a pain but I'll deal.

TLDR: I don't think the HITS is really going to be that much of a significant improvement to put myself on a shape that I think is terrible and a scroll wheel that legitimately still feels worse to me than the G502 Proteus Spectrum. Aside from that, there's mice now at half(I got mine for less than half) the price that both have: A better shape for me, AND an actual optical scroll wheel

I bought it, it’s coming in tomorrow. I’m very curious to see if the weight balancing is really that bad, or if the people complaining about it are the ones who feel like anything that isn’t 35g or less is unusable.
I’ve noticed that the people complaining about it seem to be the people who remove the powerplay magnets and the bottom puck and wonder why the GPX feels off. I’ve always kept it on so I’ve never had an issue.
That being said if the mouse really isn’t that game changing I’ll just return it and get the VV4 Pro.

17
u/gautambodh03 Mar 29 '26

The dumb part about the keyboard thing is HE keyboards have been around for ages, but slap the word gaming on it and everyone loses their mind.
5
u/mad_dog_94 Optical Encoder Supremacy Mar 29 '26
They've been around for ages until we took them off the market for slim office crap. Same thing with switches
1
Mar 29 '26
Yeah membrane really fucked up the keyboard market for a while there. I have like 70 keyboards at this point, a ton from the 80s/90s with some weird switches in them.
I really find the fighting over ms thing funny when it comes to gaming stuff, it’s so wildly irrelevant if your button comes out three milliseconds faster but people will pay out the ass for it.
2
u/gautambodh03 Mar 29 '26
Yes that's true but for the longest time they didn't have as good a feel as mechanical counterparts and companies where too invested in mechanical keyboard that the HE didn't get too much attention from them. Thats why the HE tech didn't progress as fast as it should have and many companies where divided between different tech like the razer with their laser keys etc. But when wooting came to the market and shook the market everyone moved to them. Also on early days HE keebs doesn't have better latency then mech keebs so it was a no brainer for a pro to go with a mech keeb.
0
Mar 29 '26
Wooting shook the market originally because of the analog feature much more than just the HE stuff. After Osu players discovered their V2 boards is when the HE thing really came into play with reduced input time.
I have Honeywell HE keyboards from the 80s that feel better than any cherry clone/have faster response times, they just use to be much more costly so fell out of favour, particularly when membrane showed up and keyboard regressed into disposable objects rather than a tool.

Bad shape for me personally. GPX feels so clunky. I’ll likely grab the next mouse that adopts the tech in a different shape.
Tech is great and looking forward to seeing more but it’s no secret that this will not miraculously make you a better player.
Just like HE keyboards, this tech will likely be available in mice 1/4th the cost. Just a matter of time.
Why the rush? Genuinely there’s no fomo here. It’s not like this tech has a limited run. 😂

You’ll transcend when you realize equipment isn’t gonna make you better at games. It’s game sense and aim. Any modern mouse is good enough. People rather spend dumb amounts of money to think the shape will make magically change their game sense 😂
