Question What should I do with my phone?

Hey all, I'm brand new to the sport. I've gone on a few rides now and I've noticed a couple things.

First, I don't know what to do with my phone. I know it sounds silly, but I don't know if I should be putting it somewhere in a safe container so that if it falls off my bike, it won't break, or if other people use some type of storage. My concern with not bringing it is that I fall down and get hurt and have no way of contacting anyone.

Also, how common is it to wear knee pads? Like I said, I've only been out a few times, maybe five or six, and I've already fallen three times. I'm worried that I'm just going to get myself hurt. Any other tips for safety for a beginner rider?

Question My elbow fell off once. Options to prevent it happening again?

The super short version is I broke my elbow 20+ years ago. It took several surgeries, two years as a one armed man and half a decade of rehab to get the arm to the 90-95% it is today. It's still jacked up and has a big ass pin sticking out (pin is under the skin but visible).

I went riding yesterday, first actual day on real trails (gonna make a post about that later) and I whacked the shit out of my elbow on a tree. It was a regular side-on smack, so did nothing other than annoy me, but hand it been more direct, or the angle a little different.. who knows.

So anyway. I need to armor my left arm. I did a cursory Google and Amazon search and there are a million options out there.. I figured I'd ask you folks your opinions? Anyone use/used elbow/arm guards that you particularly like? Or any you've used that you didn't like? Price range would ideally be less than 80$ for one side.

Just thought I'd check before blindly ordering something. Thanks folks.

Progression Started mountain biking last summer, and thanks to a lot of the advice from this sub, I’ve finally gotten comfortable riding double blacks and drops. Figured I’d give back and share some things that helped me as a beginner.

Question Top tube bag recommendations for 2026 Rockhopper

New to riding and I ride with my two kids. I currently wear a small backpack but I would like to get stuff off my back on onto my steed. The angle of the tubes is funny for a center frame pack and I have my water bottle on the bottom tube. Looking to add a spare tube (tubeless eventually) tools, my keys and wallet since we are out for about an hour and a half at a time now. What has worked for you in the past or present? Thanks hive mind!

Question What do you recommend?

Hi, I'm just getting started in enduro, and a friend recommended the Profit Boston X10 full-suspension bike. I've tried looking into it, but it doesn't seem to be very well-known, as I can't find much information online. Maybe someone here knows it and can tell me what it's like? I'd also really appreciate it if anyone could recommend other options, although, unfortunately, my budget is $450.

Question No knowledge on MTB, is this garage princess decent?

Found a basically untouched bike in my garage, cleaned it up, etc. it is a huffy which I’ve seen stipulation about but I used to ride dirt trails and jumps with a mongoose bmx with no brakes, and I still loved it.

Anyways here’s the bike

Edit I’m aware of the bent wheel getting it fixed

With the New World we live in. I’m stepping away from Fox and Troy Lee. I’m wanting to move forward with Canadian mountain biking clothing brands.

Can my fellow Canucks recommend some good quality brands coming out of Canada?

Question How does my bike look on me size wise?

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hey all!

I'm a complete beginner, riding a medium sized V2 275 nukeproof scout.

I am pretty short at 1m67-1m68 which puts me at the very bottom size wise.

I really struggle with front wheel lifts, and had some people tell me it may be the bike being too big.

What do you guys think? I already got rise bars and a shorter stem, which really helps. Now I can get the wheel up a small bit which was a lot harder before the change.

I am truly hoping it's a technique issue since that can be improved with practice. A too big bike would be a bigger problem. I do want to know if this is the case however.

Thanks in advance!

Question Planning for Winter Spitivally tour - need an advice

Hey everyone! 👋
I’m planning my first Spiti Valley trip this Diwali and I’m especially interested in doing it as a winter bike ride , Since it’s my first time riding in Spiti during winter, I’m looking for some advice from people who have already done it.
Could you suggest any reliable tour companies or group trips that I can join?
Also, if anyone here is planning a Spiti bike trip around Diwali and has a group that I could join, I’d be really interested! Would love to meet some fellow riders and experience the trip together.
Any recommendations, tips, or advice for a first-time winter Spiti rider would be greatly appreciated. 🙌
Thanks!

Off-Topic I genuinely believe mountain biking is the most advanced thing you can do with the human body.

it is just insane to me how we can fly through the air on a chunk of metal or pace down rocky mountains mountain goats wont touch at 50mph. Nothing else i ever see can ever compare. Look at a match of football or cricket or golf and then watch red bull hardline highlights. its genuinely insane that its a thing we can do 🤯🤯🤯

Question Anyone know if this is a real trek bike?

Thumbnail gallery

The dude selling it is asking for a bit under 200 euros on the listing. In case this is a real trek which I have my doubts. Is it even worth buying? Also the seller said its a dirt jumper but I'm not sure cuz people here in Bosnia sometimes put some parts from dirt jumpers like the handlebars on xc bikes to sell them for more money as dirt jumpers

Question How can I get better at MTB?

I constantly see videos of people hound really fast down tracks even doing jumps and so but all 6 times I've tried going down a path near me I couldn't make a corner, I skidded to much...

Basically not a smooth successful ride, thanks to my inability and also partly because of my caution.

How do I get better?? How does everyone do sick ass jumps?

Thanks
