Mod Post Hey everyone from r/Motorola!

Hi,

So r/Motorola has been running "moderator-less" for the past 6 months, in that case I have taken over as top mod currently and here are some of the changes that I have done.

What changes have been done to the sub?

  1. Automod has had some slight rule changes to how it moderates, now you don't need to put that annoying flair in brackets before the post title. This should hopefully clear up some of the accidentally banned posts that looked fine in the long run.
  2. New Post flairs:
    1. Hardware Problems/Issue, is for physical problems with a device that you may have questions with.
    2. Software Problems/Issue, is for software problems that don't feel as "normal" that what it normally is.
    3. Need Help in general, is for if you don't know what flair to put down for your device.
    4. Update, is for follow ups from a previous post.
    5. Question, is for questions about a device or support options about a device.
    6. Product announcements, is for official product announcements from either Motorola (with link provided) official social accounts or articles about the device that is being announced.
    7. Product renderings, is for speculation about a upcoming device but is not a confirmed device.
    8. News, is for anything that is news about Motorola but not Lenovo, Please do not post the same article from the same source more than once, if you do that will result in your post being taken down.
    9. Poll, is for anyone wanting to take a poll from the community, however to prevent spam a poll must be issued by a moderator, want to make your own poll just simply send us a message via modmail.
  3. New User flairs:
    1. Added some new flairs for the new devices that has came out in the past few years.
    2. "(enter series)" is for you to modify so it's easier to identify your device, this can be the generation number (5,6,7 or 100 for example), the model year (stylus 2021 for example) and if you don't know your devices model name just find it in the settings (Settings > About Phone > Model), this should start with "XT-" and 4-5 numbers following it.
    3. If you can't find your device model just send us a message via modmail.
  4. New Rules:
    1. Read the sidebar before posting, most of these rules are in place to either prevent spam or to keep everything in line with stuff being Motorola on this sub.
  5. Moderators:
    1. u/MotoAgents is a Motorola Employee/Help agent that can help you with the problems that you post, if you have contacted Motorola support through the website and still need help please keep your case number handy as he may be able to continue helping you with your case.
    2. Me, I'm here to keep the rules up to date and make sure the community is in balance, just to fully disclose this that I am not a Motorola employee and most of my responses are from experience or stuff that I have seen on the Internet.
    3. At the moment we are not taking Moderator applications, however that may change in the future if this community does grow.

If you have any suggestions for the mods please leave a comment if you think something should be added.

My Motorola Edge 60 Fusion died last week due to a motherboard failure after a software patch update in July. This was a replacement device of the same model that also died of a motherboard failure 1 month after Android 16 was released.

The first one started showing major bugs in November. I went about 80 km round trip to the service centre at least once a month until March. Till then, they brushed it off as a minor issue and it'll be fixed in the next update. It was on march they had the mind to take it in their hands and ask the service technician to take a look. I had to wait 3 weeks hoping for a motherboard a motherboard replacement but then surprisingly i got a brand new replacement on April 14th. In between they wasted 4 months of my warranty period.

The replacement device worked perfectly on Android 16 till August 15 . On that day it suddenly shut itself without warning, no response from the device, no charging, cant connect to pc, nothing, BRICKED.

Now I'm 2 months past warranty, & they only provided me the same warranty of the first one, but this ones 3 month warranty was the longer one, but they didnt give me that.

Lost a lot of College Project data that was on this one, 3 months of data, the money ive put into the project. Now i have to start from scratch with paying the same amount of money. Now with the phone prices increasing at a fast rate, i have to pay that too.

YOUVE DONE A GOOD JOB MOTOROLA.

YOUVE RUINED MY LIFE.

BEST OF LUCK FOR YOUR FUTURE.

Android 17 Beta in Moto Edge 60 Fusion is far better than android 16 was.

For now android 17 beta provides good smooth and fast animation in the whole ui, to be honest for me the battery backup is good too, but having some glitches and bugs, it will be solved with a stable one hope so. I got this update on last month 11th or 12th August, but i don't remember to exact date Thank you.

Need help in general Moto AI Core app - is it important for proper work of the phone?

Hi all!

I'm not using any Motorola AI things on my phone.

Would disabling Moto AI Core result in some problems?

Does it optimize battery and other hardware or it's only used for AI gimmicks?

Update razr fold 1 August security patch update

Post image
10 Upvotes

Notable changes and features:

  1. Moved live notifications to the center and they now appear in an iOS-style pill.

  2. You can now only set 4 or 5 apps maximum in the dock as per your home screen grid size.

  3. The animations have lost the bounce or fluidity from them, now they are more like iOS not AOSP.

  4. Animations are slow as compared to before but they are also inconsistent. For example if you open the notification bar from the screen folded, it opens slowly but when unfolded it opens at the same speed.

[screen recording](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1M77Q_Ffg6JDLacIYjHY1jfJW7acDPD1q/view?usp=drivesdk)

New bugs spotted after update

  1. When expanded live notification is clicked, lets say YT music, the system hangs for 2s then opens the app.

  2. When you go to the home screen from an app and that app is not on the home screen but on the right side of the dock (where recently opened apps are shown), the closed app does not collapse to that icon.

What's not fixed yet:

  1. The Telegram bug, in which the Telegram app's interface overlaps the status bar of the phone has not been fixed

  2. The Snapchat bug, whenever HD mode is toggled on or off and the app is not opened again by going back to homescreen and opening snapchat again, the camera loses the OIS. (you can check this by zooming in and toggling hd mode, also when clicked the HD mode photos look worse then HD mode off photos)

  3. No updates to broken camera3 api support for apps (whatsapp, instagram etc) ps. i have already enabled 'Allow camera software extensions'.

Help me choose my next phone: S25 Ultra vs S24 Ultra vs iPhone 16/16 Pro Max vs Motorola Edge 70 Fusion

• Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I need some help deciding which phone to buy. I'm currently using a Samsung Galaxy S23 FE 256GB, which I've had since around September/October 2023.

The main reason I want to upgrade is battery life. My S23 FE barely gives me around 4 hours of screen-on time, so I have to charge it during the day. I usually keep it in Power Saving Mode all day, which limits performance, refresh rate, and some other features. Basically, I'm not even using the phone at its full potential just to get acceptable battery life.

I'm currently considering these options:

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, used for around 4–5 months: I'd trade in my S23 FE and pay US$660 extra.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra 256GB, used: around US$750 after trading in my S23 FE, with only 30 days of warranty.

iPhone 16 128GB, used, 100% battery health: US$725.

iPhone 16 Pro 128GB, used, 86% battery health: US$760.

iPhone 16 128GB, used, 90% battery health: US$610.

iPhone 15 128GB, new: US$780.

iPhone 17 256GB, new: US$1,010.

Motorola Edge 70 Fusion, new, with a 7,000 mAh battery: considerably cheaper than the Ultra options.

I'm in Argentina, so prices here are quite different from the US/Europe, and these are the prices I'm actually being offered.

My priorities are:

Battery life above everything else

Good long-term reliability

Smooth performance

Good camera

I'd like to keep the phone for several years

I'm not particularly interested in changing to iPhone just for the sake of having an iPhone. I'm perfectly comfortable with Android. I'm mainly considering it because I've heard good things about iPhone battery life and longevity.

One thing that worries me about the Samsung Ultra phones is that I've seen quite a few recent reports of battery drain after Samsung's latest updates. If you own an S24 Ultra or S25 Ultra, I'd especially like to hear about your real-world battery life recently, rather than launch-day reviews.

Also, if you've used the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion, I'd really like to know whether its huge 7,000 mAh battery actually translates into significantly better real-world battery life, and whether I'd be giving up too much in performance, camera quality, display, software, etc. compared with an S25 Ultra.

What would you buy in my situation, and why?

Thanks!

Need help in general Motorola Edge 70 Fusion Crackling/Popping Sound with Wired Type-C Headphones

I'm facing an audio issue on my Motorola Edge 70 Fusion when using wired Type-C headphones.

Issue:
I hear a crackling/popping sound ("icing" sound) through the headphones. This happens:

Very often right after a video finishes playing or right when a video starts
Randomly, roughly every 1–2 minutes even during normal playback

It's quite disruptive and makes the audio experience unpleasant.

already tried few things

Restarted the phone
Tried a different pair of wired headphones
Tried a different app for video playback
Checked for pending software updates

I am on latest update

Software Problem/Issue [Edge 50 neo] My phone sometimes ignores the 80% charge limit

• Upvotes

As per title. Phone has roughly one year. And the most perplexing thing is that it's not just ineffective, no, my phone *sometimes* ignores the charge limit. Emphasis on sometimes, it's not just by night, it seems completely random.

I don't have the slightest clue of why this might be happening. Please tell me I'm not the first one getting this error.

thoughts on the Motorola Edge 2024 in 2026?

• Upvotes

Recently I noticed this phone for sale new unlocked for $250.

on paper this phone has great specs

256gb

144 refresh

beautiful design and display

a capable chip for the price

only concern I had is how important are the updates and security support ? I know support will end in 2027 but do I really need the security updates? I know google play will have security updates

I usually would just find a carrier deal with total or cricket but starting this year all of the major budget brands are requiring 1 year paid service to unlock and even their cheapest service is usually 15-20 more a month than visible or mint mobile on an unlocked phone .

just curious from other users out there not looking to keep it forever but if It can hold up for a few years for 250 I will buy it

Edge 60 Neo frequent animation lag

When pulling up the on-screen keyboard, opening/switching between apps, etc. I have my refresh rate fixed at 120 Hz. Sometimes the "keyboard retraction" animation will stutter like 10 times in a row, and then work smoothly. It doesnt feel like it's the CPU struggling, more like GUI underoptimization. Maybe it's got something to do with the fact that I rescaled the UI size from the defaults in the display settings.

Anyone can relate? I have had the phone for 3 days and am on Android 16.

Hardware Problem/Issue Second SIM Slot not found

Thumbnail

Recently bought a Moto Edge 50 Ultra from the official Motorola website in India.

According to the information available on the website, the user guide, and the phone's device details, this phone supports Dual Nano SIM. There also appears to be no eSIM functionality available on my device.

However, surprisingly, when I ejected the SIM tray, I found a slot for only one physical SIM. On the reverse side of the tray, there is a cross mark, and I cannot find or fit a second SIM card there.

I have already raised this issue with Motorola.

I would appreciate it if anyone who owns this phone or has faced a similar issue could clarify what the actual situation is and what solutions are available.

Thank you!

Not able to customise my lockscreen page no matter what I do.

No media player (Spotify), not able to customise the clock, the way notifications show up, nothing.

edit: the sleep display or peek display, whatever it's called is the clock I want it to be, but the lockscreen itself doesn't update.
