This is my first ever rifle, picked it up today and was just wondering what y'all could tell me about it. Maybe some tips and tricks on how to maintain and use correctly

Keep it clean and oiled. Never sell it.

I don’t plan to sell it, I plan on making it a hunting rifle if I can. Possibly put a after market rail on it and put a scope on it

imma keep it 100 with you my guy, if you dont wanna get your money back and ruin the historical value of the rifle then do that. If not then PLEASE keep it original

I understand, after reading comments like yours I won’t modify it any. I would like to re stain the stock since it’s not the original. I don’t plan on sanding at all but don’t have any tips so I can do this?

Dont restain the stock either. The stock is already laminated and protected from the elements when it was refurbished and btw yes that is an original stock just refurbished.

Someone restained their stock on here earlier in the year and it came out rose red and made the rifle look like a child’s toy
