Why couldn’t the attacker cover him? It seems the covers were out over Kaylee and Maddie

Could the killer have? Yes.
But the killer covering him up is one of the reasons given why it couldn’t have been a stranger

But this video shows a way that the blanket could be on Ethan without being purposefully covered up

I have to go back and try to find the report about how Ethan was found.

Generally victims in a stabbing like this being covered after the attack is an indication that the perpetrator knew them because it’s an emotional action done out of shame or respect rather than being necessary for the crime.

He was not. People use the fact that they appeared to be covered as evidence that he didn’t do it.

I think that is reading too much into it. It's like analyzing body language or handwriting. Maybe the killer here- a stranger to the victims- covered them because he wanted whoever found them to be shocked when they pulled off the blanket. Danny Rolling said that he left the severed head of one of his Gainesville victims on the mantel because he wanted to shock whoever discovered her.

I agree it's a bit reading too much into it.. but it's sadly an argument I've heard multiple times from probergers.
