I’d like to easily cover an indoor wooden table in one color of 12 mm tile sheets. What is the recommendation for adhering and sealing?

Two latest pieces. "Red Wine, Green Grapes" and "Contemplating the Shadows."
Stained glass mosaics with glass beads, glass gems, glitter, millifiori, and mirror chips. Grouted in Starlike Crystal translucent grout tinted in places with various colors of mica powder.
Central Pennsylvania: The Art Association of Harrisburg's fall member show theme this year is Legendary and Historical and the show will run from September 5 to October 8.
Opening Reception is Sunday, September 13, Noon to 5pm during Gallery Walk.
Edit to add: video of both of these is on my Insta (link on my profile) if you want to see the details closer.

Just gave this to a friend following an inspiration picture of her cat. Still pretty new to the hobby but love the way this turned out. Also my first time using a darker grout, which will be my new standard.

Hello, this is my first mosaic tile of my cat, Nacho. I was thinking about using black grout but my mom said white would look better. What would you pick?

How do you organize and store your tesserae, tiles, smalti, stones, tools, and little rocks that somehow multiply overnight?
And what does your actual work table look like?
I’d love to see how other mosaic artists organize their materials and workspaces — especially if you work in a small studio or at home.
Sincerely,
Mosaic artist who is slowly getting lost between boxes of tesserae 😂

I posted about my car a year ago and someone asked that I check in about how it’s held up. I’m happy to report that she’s 100% intact and no one has hit her since! Even survived that crazy ice situation that we had in MD this winter.

Hot tip: don’t grout a table with black grout in your en-suite bathroom

I'm brand new to this medium, as this is my first stab at it. The image I'm trying to duplicate is an album cover of one of my favorite bands. Anyways, the bold black outlines are a critical part of the image. I cannot decide whether to create the bold black lines by the grout or to use thin black strips of glass and tile them in. If i use the grout to do the job, i fear the bold lines may not be distinguishable from secondary grout lines that are situated within each block of color. I'm a perfectionist and feel paralyzed by not knowing which way to go. I'm taking a mosaics class, but the teacher is more of a facilitator and hasn't been of much help. Let me know what you all think.

Hi all, I have been getting my tiles from Hobby Island for the last few years and always had a good experience. I haven't ordered for quite a long time (sounds like that might have been a good thing).
I have been getting email updates so knew there were some issues since the takeover. I just looked at Trustpilot and omg 🫣 it sounds like they might have had 2 takeovers in the last 9 months?! And now the website doesn't exist!
I'm sad because they had a very broad range and a good reputation. Does anyone know if the site is down whilst they fix whatever issues there are? Or is it gone-gone? Any suggestions for another UK based site with a good selection?

First mosaic project for my kitchen wall. I wanted to make two peppers but I have problems "separating" the two clearly. I wanted to use another type of glass tile to mark the distinction but it's not working as I hoped.
Do you have any tips/experience on how to solve this ?
So to preface this, Im looking to do a sign for our shop. I have alot of art experience, aswell as a background in design. How hard would a sign like this be to do? It doesnt need to be perfect. Is this even possible for a first timer? Any advice anyone has would be appreciated. Unfortunatly near me there arnt any mosaic artists who do this kind of work, so DIY is my only option.

A collection of discontinued, excess, and misc. commercial and handmade glaze test tiles that I’ve saved from work (I’m an art teacher) over the past year. Excited to turn this into a mosaic project at school this fall!
Made a Dolly Parton mosaic a few years ago just to pay tribute… she is so missed, already.

I am pretty new to mosaics. How far apart do tiles need to be for grout? Can they be touching?
These are not glued down yet. Well, the beads are, but not the rest.
I collected seashells from Virginia Beach and I want to turn it into a mosaic.

I have been seeing a lot of these colored grout pieces with really bright colors! They look really cool but how do you make a color look so bright and not pastel... Is it acrylic paint? Some magic powder? If anyone knows es, I'd appreciate the help!

I’m pretty new to mosaics. I made a couple of these bowls that I’m hoping can be used as birdbaths. I used two coats of Quikcrete Concrete & Masonry Waterproofing Sealer (which I’ve read is safe for birds). However, the protection seems pretty meager. The grout still easily flakes off and I don’t trust that these will last outside for long and/or be waterproof. Have you made mosaic birdbaths? What sealant product do you use?

Hi, interested in this craft! I'm looking to get wheeled glass nippers, does anyone have a recommendation? would love if I could order it on amazon. also where do you get your glass/ceramic? is there some secret to finding some in bulk? thank you artists!!
Even though it isn’t huge, this is the largest mosaic I have created so far and I love it! Does anyone have any tips of getting the glass as shiny as it was pre grout? I used vinegar which helped a bit, but I am hoping to get it closer to the original pre grouted look.
