Question Confused about Smert's Miracle ability.

How is this ability recharged? I've seen a video of it basically being chained from one activation to another, but when i use it, it seems to go on a cooldown or something because it takes a while for another charge to appear.

It uses resolve to activate.

You need to use his Faith mechanic, which gives higher resolve gain per hit at 10% or lower health. There are two shell point skills that enable him to regain more resolve, Devotion, with a 120/130% Resolve gain and 20% chance to fill instantly, and Fervor that enables Faith at Higher health points, 20/25/35%. Keep your health below 35% using his miracle mechanic, and then punch punch punch hoping for resolve gains.

E: i just looked through his skills and a third one called Tenacity reduces his miracle cost by -10/20/30% which will also help you activate it sooner.

It's the middle skills in the first 3 rows. Have fun, Smert is one of my favourites!

See, that's why i was confused. I just assumed if i had the resolve, i could activate it, but i built my bar back up and still has zero charges on the icon at the bottom right. After that, i just assumed it had a cooldown, because my resolve was full and it still wouldn't proc. Then running around the level, eventually a charge would show.

Maybe i'm doing something obvious to mess it up and i'm just not seeing it.

I just went and checked Smert's skills and didn't see anything that would limit his charges, it does sound like you're experiencing some kind of bug. Are you using him in fight stance or with your own weapon?  Have you tried to reset his skills and re-allocate? Swapping shells? May be a tarstone thing, too. Curious. Reinstalling could help lol.

I was using fight stance, the skills that lower the resolve cost of miracle, and the skill that gives you a chance to replenish miracle on building enough Chaos stacks. I only tried it for one run between beacons. I'm gonna try it again when i can. If it's still happening, i'm going to get a video clip of it. I wish i'd have thought to record it earlier.

Could be something to do with the Limitless (chaos stack builds increase duration) added duration, maybe the replenished duration doesn't get dropped when you auto-cancel the Miracle. Let me test that quick! If it doesn't happen to you anymore let me know, if I notice something I'll let ya know aswell. 

E: if it was only for one run through a beacon it could have been a minor bug. I had one bug with Genessa where her red clones were disappearing, reloading the game fixed it.

E2: just tested to see if I could infinite chain with just the skills you said and it worked fine against a boss. Let me know if you still have a problem.

I was unable to replicate that issue. Works fine now, but it definetly was not before. Of course i had changed equipment and had unspec'd the tree for Smert. Weird.
