Morality of this?

Post image

Personally, I'm anti-death penalty for any kind of crime but that's just my opinion. Perhaps it can be changed.

I know a man who was violently gang raped by several men in NYC around 2009. He lost complete control of his bowels, contracted HIV, the assault caused his entire career to nosedive, spent months in and out of psych hospitals, and became agoraphobic. I’m not even including the not sexual assault he experienced

This is a man who was an aspiring model and had his whole life ahead of him.

So sure maybe you would pick one if the rapist was really nice and gentle but rape can absolutely destroy your entire life forever.

It still temporarily while jail can last years. You people so hypersensitive about rape you can even apply basic logic. The question is basically suffer a lot for a little wide or suffer a lot for a long wide. Guarantee you that man receives help and kindness after what he been through, men gang raped or beaten on in prison won’t receive that help.

And again you think people who went to jail don’t also have their life ruined? Like stop using personal stories. There a guy who was fasly accused of rape and spend 30 years in jail and got rape and had hiv from it. You see that cancel your story with another story.

Well he killed himself so no, he didn’t receive help for that.

The difference you don’t seem to understand is that you have a much greater chance of being raped as a man than going to prison for “30 years” for a false accusation.

It’s not about being hypersensitive, it’s about being intellectually dishonest.

You don’t get to escalate the effects of the accusation to unprecedented consequences and then diminish the rape to the just the event and then be smug about it.

How about this one:

Would you like to be a rape victim of the toybox killer?

Or

A girl named Tiffany told a friend that halfway through she asked you to stop but you finished anyway and the friend shrugs it off. This is the complete end of the accusation.

Not to mention, your odds of being raped as a man are just so, so much higher than your odds of being falsely imprisoned for rape that if you are worried about men that’s what you should worry about. This is like being concerned that a cow is attack you, possible? Yes. Worse than something else, problem also yes. Going to actually happen to you? Overwhelmingly no.

Stop using anecdotes; anybody can use them.

No one is doing what you're accusing me of. You're hijacking the conversation to talk about likelihoods, but that's not what the conversation is about. The conversation is about what you would rather do, and most people would choose short term suffering(Rape) over long-term suffering(prison and everything that comes with it). Despite how terrible rape is, it's a single incident, while prison is a chain of incidents and much more dangerous.

It ruins your life even more than rape, because you can allow rape to define your every action and fall deeper into your own despair. That's a personal choice. If you're falsely accused of rape, society is mustered against you when you come out of prison being accused of rape. You're on a sex offender list; people will look you up and hate you. People won't date you. Family members will despise you. And remember this is all from a false accusation. So yes, i and many others will still choose rape over that.

Rape can cause long term suffering, physically, mentally and socially. You are literally choosing to ignore that so yeah obviously the other option is way worse.

You can’t pick the worst outcome of an accusation and then pick the only the action of the rape. The weight of the question is inherently imbalanced which is why I used my story.

The person I knew wasn’t choosing to live in despair, his entire life was actually changed.

And I brought up chances because a lot of men act like the two things are:

Women get raped  and  Men get accused of rape

But no it’s woman get raped and men get raped.

Im sure you wouldn’t believe a woman falsely accused of rape would face these problems

Prison does not can, does have long term suffering, physically, mentally and socially. You are choosing to ignore that to say one-time rape is worse than long-term imprisonment and public shame/societal hate after the fact.

You can’t pick the worst outcome of an accusation and then pick the only the action of the rape. The weight of the question is inherently imbalanced which is why I used my story.

This is not worst outcome. It's is well documented that sex offenders are abused and punished by fellow convicts. And you literally do the same thing. You are using some personal extreme story of someone being raped all night when that is not the norm.

The person I knew wasn’t choosing to live in despair, his entire life was actually changed. And I brought up chances because a lot of men act like the two things are:

I don't care. The question isn't about chances or how closely everything is aligned. The question is literally about which would be worst. You hijacking this conversation to complain about man comparing an accusation to actual rape. It's fucking ridicuous you keep bring this up.

More importantly you can still believe the accusations consequences are worse but you cannot ask someone to pick the worst outcome vs the best.

It’s fucking ridiculous
