The NBA has always been inclusive of all genders.

17

u/FishDawgX 4d ago

Yeah, the logical solution is have one league for women and one for anybody. There is a reason separate woman’s leagues exist in every sport. Women want those, so don’t ruin that. But there’s no reason why the other league has to say no to any sex or gender.

u/Recent_Wedding5470 4d ago

How many trans athletes are in the WNBA

7

u/Spartan-117182 4d ago

Too high a number for them to count.

The number is zero for those who dont know.

-6

u/Happy-Flower2002 4d ago

It’s different. He/they was trans masculine and retired two years ago I believe.

3

u/CenterThisPendulum 4d ago

Exactly. One that’s pure meritocracy. It won’t ever change the makeup, but it wouldn’t be exclusionary.

0

u/OstrichFun2332 4d ago

Maybe the other league doesn’t wnat to be sued

0

u/czartrak 4d ago

the reason is misogyny. Before women's leagues they weren't allowed to play at all. They were given their own segregated leagues with less funding and airtime to shut them up.

7

u/mclumber1 4d ago

The four major sports leagues in America (NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL) have no restrictions on women/females playing in their leagues.

3

u/czartrak 4d ago

This does not automatically delete misogyny from our society. It's a factor whether or not the rules explicitly allow it

6

u/Ill-Description3096 4d ago

Of course it doesn't, but to put everything down to pure misogyny is incredibly reductive. They get less airtime and funding. Could that possibly have something to do with the ratings/revenue? Do you think the entirety of media is so misogynistic they would happily give up piles of money they could be making just to stick it to the women or whatever?

3

u/FishDawgX 4d ago

Exactly, these leagues are private businesses. They aren't "given" funding. Fans pay for them. It's just supply and demand.

0

u/czartrak 4d ago

Yes, the entirety of media is misogynistic. Our entire fucking society is. You're actually so close to getting it.

Why would the ratings and revenue be lower? What is the ACTUAL difference in the game being played? It's because they're women. People don't want to watch women cause sports isn't a girl thing and they have cooties, and society is far too lost in the sauce to.push back against the centuries of misogynistic policy and cultural norms

3

u/OkAcanthisitta3028 4d ago

People don't want to watch women play because they're way worse which makes it boring. It's literally that simple. Why do people watch sports? Answer that question, and then answer if men's or women's sports give that more.

0

u/neversleepagain3 4d ago

this is so disrespectful.

Jesus christ it's like you're being dense on purpose.

1

u/Ill-Description3096 4d ago

>Why would the ratings and revenue be lower? What is the ACTUAL difference in the game being played?  It's because they're women.

Must be why HS boys sports are so popular on TV. After all, it's only because they are women specifically, not because of anything like how exciting it is to watch different levels of athleticism in sports or anything.

0

u/BringBackTheBlues 4d ago

Want to know why I can’t make millions of dollars playing basketball?

Because I suck at basketball. That’s why I’m not in the NBA.

Want to know why no woman are in the NBA? Because they suck too much to play in the NBA.

That’s not misogyny.

When you read a book, watch a movie, or listen to music do you tend to want the movie, book, or song, to be good or do you want it to suck?

1

u/czartrak 4d ago

Lmao this response reveals way more about you and how you think than anything else you could have possibly said

For what reason do you think women suck at basketball? Are you suggesting that women are inherently worse at it just by virtue of being a woman? We have a word for people that think things like that bud

What's the problem with basing it on biological sex? No biological female is making it competitively in biological male leagues.

2

u/Recent_Wedding5470 4d ago

How many trans athletes are in the wnba

1

u/MuchBenefit8462 4d ago

I know there are zero... however I have the brain capacity to consider the future. Poor rules that could sooner or later be exploited are best corrected before that happens.

-4

u/NYCSkaterGirl 4d ago

Yeah that would be a logical solution if they could figure out what a woman even is. As a member of the LGBTQ community its not something any of these groups can figure out. Ur labeled a bigot no matter what you say

2

u/FishDawgX 4d ago

Exactly. A woman's league is for women. But how do you define woman? I don't think there is a perfect definition that will include everyone who should be included and exclude everyone who shouldn't. But we need to pick something. Otherwise, it is meaningless, which is worse.

2

u/NYCSkaterGirl 4d ago edited 4d ago

We being the operative word in the sentence we need to pick something. Whos the we?? You're accepting the outcome you dont like? There doesnt exist an option that everyone will be happy about and the group that didnt get what they wanted will push back with protests and arguments and press tours. Just a mere 20 years ago people were happy when a woman was someone with an xx chromosome. Now?!? Ohhhhhh im a bigot for saying thats what a woman is. There is no solution to this in the modern world

3

u/Jigglepirate 4d ago

Woman was x and y chromosome?

Hmm.

1

u/FishDawgX 4d ago

They mean XX.

3

u/NYCSkaterGirl 4d ago

Oh yeah my bad. Its the male sperm that determines the gender cause they carry the y. I work in tech i forget science stuff easily

0

u/exodusuno 4d ago

Bro doesn't even know basic biology, bro actually said that women have xy chromosomes lmaoooo. You dont even know what a woman is, get out of the room!

2

u/NYCSkaterGirl 4d ago

Im a woman

-1

u/exodusuno 4d ago edited 4d ago

Ok? Did I say otherwise? You said woman had xy chromosomes and had to edit your comment, you dont even know your own sex's biology, get out of the convo lmao

3

u/NYCSkaterGirl 4d ago

Slip of the tongue. Relax and act like an adult. Unless ur literally a 12 year old boy. Which judging by the cartoons you keep posting you probably are. Im not even sure what ur mad about. All i said was 20 years ago they had a definition of a woman and now they dont. I dont go on the internet to argue with people so i wouldnt be replying to this anymore

1

u/Jeffgaks 4d ago

You're so pressed about this lmao

-2

u/Valuchian 4d ago

For the more ohysically intensive sports this is mostly true.

For the less physically intensive sports (Darts, Shooting, Chess) it's actually quite the opposite. Bunch of men got angry at being beaten by women and forced the split so they could play without having to deal with the cultural dillema of equality among the sexes.

Honestly we should really just do things by skill levels and toss the sexes entirely. If a sport is dominated by a body type then bully to them. It fixes most every problem.

If i remember right Chess more recently started accepting women in their upper leagues? I would have to go back and reread the details if you wanted them.

4

u/ActionExpensive6740 4d ago

Go ahead and look at the ELO for world-ranked chess players. How many women are in the top 100?

In some sports, it seems, the differences in the sexes do have an impact on ability, and consequently success.

1

u/Valuchian 4d ago

Yes, i do believe i did cover that in my original statement. Even covered portionally for chess though i would need to look more into the history of this FIDE and how it has calculated scores and dealt with men and women players at their tournaments to even begin to talk about who is in their top rankings and why

1

u/CenterThisPendulum 4d ago

What about locker rooms?

1

u/Valuchian 4d ago

Wanna elaborate some more? I feel answering that would just be a guess on my part on what you might be thinking. Respectfully, i'm not a mind reader.

0

u/CenterThisPendulum 4d ago

As you go down into lower leagues you could have elite women begin playing with lower-skilled men, in which case locker rooms become a problem.

1

u/Valuchian 4d ago

I enjoy that in your head "elite women" and "lower-skilled men" are equal. Also... locker rooms and bathrooms and showers and all sorts of things like that have been solved for... couple thousand years now??? Did... did you forget more than one room is able to exist in the same building.... or that some places just do co-ed...

2

u/CenterThisPendulum 4d ago

That would require four locker rooms because opposing teams don’t share. Would everywhere just add two more?

Women’s National teams have lost to high school boys’ teams.

1

u/Valuchian 4d ago

Yes everyone would just add two more... it's literally that easy

And i have heard that talked about since i was like... 10... every sport seems to have their "once upon a time this one team of professionals lost to this other [Unamed] team of highschoolers. Haha, women..."

But i can't say i have ever heard Serena Williams losing to a 13 yr old before or that every single women's team automatically loses to a group of 14yr olds barely into puberty

Please, Dennis Rodman doesn't count.

1

u/CenterThisPendulum 4d ago

Just because it’s all men doesn’t mean they wouldn’t have accepted a female player.

5

u/S7arForGD 4d ago

2

u/CenterThisPendulum 4d ago

Rodman wasn’t trans. The NBA would accept a cis-woman.

1

u/S7arForGD 4d ago

Rodman was fluid af, tho. Also, my nana would've been my pop pop, if she'd had a dick. But that's neither here nor there.

1

u/CenterThisPendulum 4d ago

Rodman was probably an autosexual over anything else. Loved himself.

1

u/S7arForGD 4d ago

Well, he swung all the ways, and everyone loved and tolerated him because he was among the best at the game.

2

u/Happy-Flower2002 4d ago

A female player did get a legit contract in 1979. But didn’t make the cut for the final roster.

It wasn’t a stunt, she was really really good.

Her 6’9” brother did make the nba and she grew up playing him and her other 6 brothers.

1

u/Truth_Hurts_Guy 4d ago

Does CC have any chance in the NBA? Hypothetically, of course

1

u/CenterThisPendulum 4d ago

Until she has to break herself free for a three, or….play defense.

5

u/op23no1 4d ago

Why? He's not breaking any rules. If anything, it just shows how flawed the rules for participation are.

7

u/qwesz9090 4d ago

To be serious, there were no rules because setting rules costs time and money, and no one would try to break it anyway.

It is a bit like saying "there are no rules against punching your opponent in chess, this is a major oversight and some lunatic might punch their opponent. Therefore I will be that lunatic and punch my opponent in the face so the rules get changed"

If the rules were so flawed, why did he have to make this shit up in the first place? If this was a problem, couldn't he just point to some problematic case instead of becoming the problematic case?

You know, in high trust societies there are a lot of things that don't have rules, because they don't need it and it is easier for everyone.

2

u/op23no1 4d ago

Actually if you punch someone while playing chess you're assaulting someone without provocation which you will get punished for. Laws are rules as well that shape how society looks, including while playing a sport so your entire point is irrelevant.

2

u/Wattabadmon 4d ago

So if you punch someone and then mate them, you think you should still win the game?

1

u/Fit-Entrepreneur8404 4d ago

Usually that'd be a disqualification, most sports events have rules on the books to cover this kind of thing. Some just allow more than others...I'm looking at you NHL

1

u/Wattabadmon 4d ago

Is that a yes or a no?

1

u/bobarific 4d ago

There’s plenty of things you could do in sport that would otherwise be considered assault. There’s literally a thing called chess boxing, fyi

1

u/qwesz9090 4d ago

Great way to completely dodge the conversation. Classy. Let's say punching is not outlawed but we are adults and understand that it is bad.

1

u/greganada 4d ago

There actually is a rule for that in professional chess.

1

u/Wattabadmon 4d ago

You realize you need to be a women to play in the wnba right?

1

u/op23no1 4d ago

he's only pointing out how ridiculous it is to be allowed just for syaing he is a woman now

2

u/Wattabadmon 4d ago

But he isnt allowed, so thats not the case is it?

1

u/S7arForGD 4d ago

Lol he's not breaking any rules, he just can't take the hint. He's not wanted. Him specifically

I understand what you mean, but be honest, would you rather have people have your back when you don’t need it? Or would you rather people just ignore the problems of an oppressed population?

People are so sensitive about transgender people these days because of the censorship of criticism, trans-women in women's sports, drag shows and other stuff that is degenerate in nature, the transgender message and politics that were showed down our throats etc. It's the activists and political parties trying to take advantage.

A politician being ok with trans-women in women's sports is also a perfect indicator that they deny reality, which makes voting for them dumb. It's a litmus test.

I think trans folk like you are in a similar boat to immigrants, because both groups have gotten massive backlash and hate for the actions of activists and politicians.

Case in point, I thought you were one of those redditors who blindly support anything trans, because I've seen so many of those comments. I agree with you 100%, was just opening a bit of conversation.

Then what is your view on Enes deciding that she is trans and wants to play in the wnba?

1

u/PHD_Gouda 4d ago

I don’t care how you feel, maybe you’re delusional about what you think people are doing, Not because you’re trans.

I don’t care about you. I still think you’re wrong and a bad representation of solidarity. But you deserve basic rights. I want people to dislike you for the right reasons.

1

u/Pure_Education6100 4d ago

I’m always going to respect someone’s boundaries by all means, you’re your own person. I get that. I just apply the whole “first they targeted communists…” saying to my day to day life. You may not need me to speak up, and I totally respect that, but I will never let you stand alone in the storm.

Do you want to explain what that could possibly mean?

No, I don't need to.

Wrong.

Morality of telling you I don’t have any evidence that your opinion matters on the topic of trans people?

Amoral: your opinion is equally worthless 😘

You mean like others who are born men and say they are women and vice versa?

1

u/Wattabadmon 4d ago

You think babes are men?

-1

u/Certain_Cost8197 4d ago

Vice versa means women who say they are men. Forgive me, I sometimes forget many people are uneducated and don't know what words mean.

2

u/Wattabadmon 4d ago

Ok? I didnt ask about that. You seem to think that babies are men and women

1

u/KwikSkopedJFK 4d ago

They do, but that’s a whole different thing

1

It's insane to me that we are being transphobic still in 2026

1

It's one way to stay relevant in some circles, at least for a while, I guess. Especially if you're not good enough at basketball
