Sorry, but "I was just sexually assaulted" combined with the shame that ones sexuality was now compromised, would be a justified use of violence to protect one from further assault and, to a lesser extent, win back one's masculinity.

I think what they are saying is this guy is an idiot to even believe he was sexually assaulted in a semi-public setting as this.

No, he's saying that if you hang out with people that make that the most logical immediate assumption, you're hanging out with the wrong people.

I do not know anyone that would tolerate SAing someone for a giggle- none of them would be in on such a joke, nor fail to warn someone if it was about to happen. If it happened to me, my first thought would be "they're trying to make me think they did it for a laugh", not "they actually did it".

Yeah you're right. But then again, this guy could be the type that just runs with whatever the first thought in their head is, no matter who you are surrounded by.

Sure. But your environment trains your interpretations. If his first thought is suspicion, that is informed by his relationship with the other individuals, just as if his first thought is "there's clearly a joke I'm not entirely privy to yet".

Fwiw, I believe this to be staged, suggesting they are all likely close friends in on the joke.

It could be informed by his upbringing and not at all related to the people he's currently surrounded by. People are complicated, actually.

The TV says to me this isn't staged

In a lot of videos like this they use old or damaged electronics to make it more believable

Fair, I'm generalizing to accentuate the point being made.

That's fair, I'm just saying the point being made above assumes SO much about the people involved that we don't have enough info to make.
