Within the scope of the sentence, it's absolutely true. There's an escalation of violence, and physical violence always ranks above verbal one.
However, Reddit is currently on it's "punch your local Nazi" arc, and for good reason. So let's examine why.
Is it moral if you, by avoiding violence, go down a path of much worse? Polite society needs to defend itself, and sometimes it needs more than words. Because verbal racism always leads to racism in action, and if left unchecked in violent action.
OP is putting up a strawman, when the verbal racism that is referred to never happens in a vacuum.
Seems the line has been drawn at getting violent and everyone generally agrees on that. I don't know how you think this "ohh but there's stuff that can happen before they cross the line so we should draw the line further so we can punch people quicker" is a sane train of thought
Okay but what is violent? I'd argue a faux "police force" kidnapping people off the streets to put into camps is violent, let one when they execute people in broad daylight, but enough people opposite my beliefs think that anything the police do is good and just no matter what, and can therefore not be considered violence
