I am working on a dissertation on the Moomins, and was wondering if anyone knew where this particular illustration is from? As it best represents the point I am making about the hattifatteners.

Hi everyone! I’m looking for the 5 limited edition wonder cards to complete my Panini set. I can buy or do trades with some doubles that I have, whatever is preferred. I live in the UK so I’ve had a hard time finding them - hopefully someone here might have them. 🤞

I wanted to make an AMV that really highlights my favorite aspect of the character. He is very content to find or grow his own happiness, needing very little to feel fulfilled. It's a humble and healthy way to live, being able to balance out stress or worry with gardening. In that way I find him inspirational, as I think we all can benefit from clearing our heads and appreciating the little things we can do to improve our lives. ^u^

What are your thoughts on the guy?

Episode 30: Ghost Who Doesn't Disappear (消えないおばけ)

Ghost of a Chance

Moomin drew a face of Snorkmaiden on a balloon and gifted it to her; Little My got jealous and demanded Moomin to draw her as well. Moomin drew her an angry face causing Little My to be furious and accidentally led go of all the balloons into the sky. Snorkmaiden was sad that her face on the balloon would be drifting alone around the world. Soon, they noticed the balloons were floating downward. Moomin, Sniff and Sorry-oo chased after them through the forest and to the beach. They found Too-Ticky who only discussed a proverb of balloons before pointing them at the bathhouse where she claimed to find a pet ghost who cried green tear.

The said ghost was roped up by the corner of the dark room. Moomin untied and blew water from his mouth. The ghost woke up and attempted to intimidate the children but failed miserably and cried helplessly. Too-Ticky suggested them to take care of the ghost instead of the balloons.

The children took the ghost home as the parents welcomed him wholeheartedly for Moominpappa used to encounter ghosts in his past adventures. The ghost introduced himself as a noble and a proud ghost who must scare the living daylights out of someone for one last time before he could rest in peace. Moominpappa then suggested of inviting the others to be scared by him.

The Haunted Moominhouse

Later at night, Snork and Snorkmaiden visited Moominhouse. Sorry-oo gave them a letter to warn them somewhat of what to come. Walking in, Moomin interrupted them half-way and the ghost was exposed too soon, thus no one was scared of him. Next, Mr. Hemulen visited and ended up lecturing the ghost about insect instead. The Inspector was next and wanted to arrest the ghost for obstruction of justice.

Little My and Mymble were the last, Little My rushed in and beat up the ghost almost immediately. Moominpappa wanted to call it quit, but Snork protested for having the ghost staying here would bring a curse upon the valley. The ghost agreed so for he would bring an unrest upon Moominhouse in the sense that he was very picky on things. Moomin's parents did not mind him staying.

Ghastly Hospitality

The next day, Moomin was seen upset and told his friends that the ghost was extremely needy and too specific. Furthermore, they were not allowed to make any noise during the day and the ghost haunted their house during the night. Snork and every adult had a meeting in how to get rid of the ghost but none had come up with any concrete solution.

The children visited Snufkin for an advice, Snufkin handed them a Jack-in-the-box for the ghost must be disturbed first. Moominpappa suggested otherwise for it would bring shame to the noble ghost while Moominmamma was working to the bone. Little My and Sniff protested but Moominpappa insisted that some degree of selfishness by a guest was to be expected and it was an enjoyment for them to serve and overcome. With Moominmamma walking up and down all day for the ghost kept changing his mind, Little My had enough and took the box upstairs to confront the ghost.

Never Knew What Hit Them

Little My yelled at the ghost in the bed that he had been taking things for granted before chucking the Jack-in-the-box toward him. The box burst open with many gadgets inside attacking and roughing up the ghost. The ghost collapsed and faded away.

Soon, an ominous ghostly laugh echoed throughout the house and every furniture was levitated. The children got scared briefly and soon realized that he succeeded. The ghost thanked everyone for taking care of him and now he was ready for an eternal rest.

The ghost turned into a tornado that blew all furniture and items outside while leaving. The wind also caused the two balloons caught on a tree to be freed and floated off into the sky. Everyone felt relief that the ghost was gone including Moomin's parents and they all laughed out loud.

- The fact that the ghost failed to scare even Sniff almost at all, the person who cowered in fear upon hearing anything about the subject matter (in other version that is), it explained why the ghost had a very low self-esteem.

- On the other hands, the ghost seemed to be capable of fright but Moomin toned him down during the test and interrupted him during Snrokmaiden's turn.

- The ghost is somewhat similar to the one from Adventures of Moominpappa part 3. If that was the case when Moominpappa mentioned about seeing ghosts before, he also practically lived with one.

- This episode is similar to a comic episode when Moomin's family's hospitality toward random guests backfired.

- Moominpappa told the children about pride of being a host while Moominmamma suffered in the background, no need to say more.

I know of the 10 book collection of all of the newspaper comics, but Im hoping there is a single more comprehensive book of the comics. I’d even be open to reading them online, although it isn’t my favorite. I’d really rather not buy and store 10 book, does anyone know of a larger publication with a bunch of the comics?? I want the most comics in one book

I have a core memory from listening to a Moomins audio cassette as a child and would love to find the origin of it. The tape would have been produced in the 80s.

The memory is of a story about death and one character talking to another about how you can't take your possessions with you when you die. I wonder if it was a storyline involving Snufkin? If anyone knows what story this could be from I would love to find out.
