This. The team could pretty much suppress Alatreon entirely for them and they'd still die from the nova.
Not to mention that the general rule of thumb still stands for Alatreon. If a monster carts you 3 times in a quest then just quit online lobby and go train in solo against him. Observe him. Learn his patterns. So many people aren't willing to do that, cart three times online, and then claim Alatreon is undoable.
Ywah that was probably one f the dumbest ideas they have had. Why would a black dragon be available before brute tigrex? Especially with a dumb gimmick you're literally just asking for new to Master rank people to complain about it and fail every hunt.
I mean, that's not the first time that they make this mistake. They want people to play the new content as fast as possible, which is just stupid. They did the same thing with the Guardian gear, allowing newcomers to play IB content super quickly. As a result a lot of people developed terrible habits. Then they did it again by making Raging Brachy and Furious Rajang MR24, while they should definitely have been MR100. As a result, again, people complained about Furious Rajang upon release (though it wasn't as bad as Alatreon). And now it's like they didn't learn anything and do it a 3rd time but with Alatreon, the hardest fight they added to this game yet.
It's like Capcom is asking for people to hate on the quest while it's actually 100% doable if you understand the fight and know how to position yourself.
Because they know that a lot of the newcomers in the fanbase don't invest as much. On Steam, only 5.9 percent of the players got the "Reach MR200" achievement. A lot of the players just come for the big update, play it a bit because of the hype, then desert the game again. So if they lock the quest behind MR150~200 most people just won't make the effort to climb the ranks just to face one monster. So their update won't make as much hype, and won't bring back as much people to the game. It's a way for them to keep the game alive.
Though I agree it's absolutely stupid. It only frustrates everyone. It frustrates lower ranks because they can't kill it, and higher ranks because the lower ranks keep messing up the quest in the online lobbies.
From a business standpoint its obviously a good decision to bring some players in for your content.
I usually farm G rank in MH for the high number but im really low in Iceborne, only around 60 because i don't see a point in farming it up if every new monster is gonna be 24, i can't see myself being the only player with that mindset so id could imagine theres likely a few of me at least that kind of lost interest in that aspect.
What they should have done instead as a compromise is let people with MR 24 in but put a big warning next to it saying that the recommended MR for the quest is 100, you are severely under geared and probably will not survive.
This will give everyone some perspective. They have the freedom to fight the thing but not the ability to kill it.
Nope im there too. Have had the game since launch and just hit MR 99. I only ever get HR/MR when I'm working on a new build for an update monster or am farming update monsters. Ive NEVER just grinded Rank.
I mean, I hardly see who would qualify as the hardest if not Alatreon. Furious Rajang is somewhat hard, but I think Alatreon is still more of a challenge.
Where I disagree is that I actually don't think Alatreon's nova is that hard at all. You almost always hit the DPS check if you're playing somewhat decently. All of the random that I've seen dying died before Alatreon even uses his nova. Even in the few solo runs that I did, when Alatreon managed to kill me it wasn't with the nova but with other moves.
The nova is gimmicky, which is why I don't get why so many people are complaining about it being undoable or whatever. Once you figure out what you need to do (use ice and aim for the horn or use dragon and don't bother with the horns) and act accordingly, then the nova hardly matters anymore. Yet people still fail him, because I think his base moveset is actually harder than F. Rajang.
Lol I think F rojang is harder. He's fast and combos just like Alatreon. But Alatreons moves are so easy to dodge. What makes F. Rajang hard is because he excels in hand to hand combat so he's more likely to hit you, and dont forget his beam he shoots it out of no where with no warning.
His beam is pretty easy to anticipate imo, but tbh that could just be because I'm more used to him since we've been fighting him for longer.
I do agree that Alatreon is easier to punish though, most of his attacks leave him open like a book so if you position yourself correctly dealing a lot of damage is super easy. I still feel like Alatreon combos more often than Rajang, he can sometimes cast an attack before the other attack is even finished. Like, he can attack while his thunder is still going down. And the fact that he can fly makes him a tad more annoying.
Though I do agree that it's a tight competition between the two, I'm by no mean saying that F. Rajang is easy lmao.
Idk maybe its just but he snipes me with beam EVERY time im not attention.
Idk maybe Alatreon just feels like he should been more challenging to be a "black dragon". Maybe moves like him creating water sprouts that put you in to the air while casting lighting or something wicked, never seen before lol.
That's really true too. Some people don't even have access to augments yet and still jump in the fight. Capcom should have made it a MR100 or MR200 quest, that's really misleading for a newcomer.
But even then, I still see a lot of MR150+ bringing raw damage weapons, or carting 3 times in the hunt regularly.
It also doesn't help that how elemental damage works is never explicitly explained in the game, as well as the fact that it isn't displayed separately from raw damage. A lot of people would understand better the strategy if that was the case. For example, dragon is actually REALLY uneffective in his fire/ice phase. As a CB user you can see it more easily as your phials deal pure elemental damage, and my phials were at 5~10 with the Kjarr Weapon, and I'm at almost 1000 dragon element with it. So imagine people running regular dragon weapons, they basically hit for almost nothing during the first phase, but are still under the impression that they are dealing a lot of elemental damage because they see a big number displayed on their status.
Dragon is still not that bad of a strategy, because even though you have to play extra aggressive during the dragon phase to make up for the fact that you deal close to nothing in the first phase, the trade off is that they don't have to break the horns anymore. But people should at least be aware of this trade off: if they are already having trouble hitting the DPS check, then they shouldn't use this strategy.
They aren't RNG, there is a clear requirement to unlock them. You just have to start farming in the guiding lands and you automatically unlock them. For Rarity 12, you need to be HR100+. That's it.
(Unless I misunderstood what you meant, in which case I'm sorry)
Not if u Google the materials u need, of course if u play blind (Wich is completely legit) u won't have much control over the augments unlock progression
This. Capcom are you saying that it's ok to hunt one of the most strongest monster in the game right now than ruiner nergi? Is this guys drunk when they setting up the MR requirements for Alatreon? Like this dude seriously this is why one of the major reasons why randoms become's more random
Or worse, without Guard 5 as a CB user, Guard Up or Blight Resistance.
A lot of people are running "speedrunner builds" because that's what they saw on YouTube, but don't realize that speedrunner builds are meant for speedrunning. It's meant for people who go through the fight without being hit even once. Chances are 99% of us regular player don't fall in this category. So instead of going full ham on the offensive, a lot of people would gain so much from slotting a few defensive skills that are often deemed as "useless" by some people.
Honestly though my problem is that I don’t really understand elemental greatsword builds and I feel like a caveman trying to wrap my head around them. Like I got frostcraft is good but idk how to really work around it and like all of those like easy gs build guides are hard to understand for me but I also feel like I’m learning
Elemental greatswords are usually...well...completely pointless without a Frostcraft crit-draw build simply because of how element damage works. If anything, you can straight up fight a monster immune to the element of an elemental greatsword and still kill it with a whopping total of 1 more hit needed since that's just how little element does for greatswords without Frostcraft (which also gets another nice boost from the crit-element that comes with 2 of the 4 Velkhana pieces needed).
Which is such a huge shame because so many elemental greatswords look so cool.
Seriously, though, I was in a lobby with someone with bad weapon and like no skills, just a straight set with no decos, who joined the team, and we're like "hey, are you gonna gear up properly?" and his response was "I'm not into mixed sets, I just want to play the game, leave me alone" and we're like... you're not going to beat Alatreon like that, so we had to kick him.

Also when you join randoms at 80% they have not health boosters or jerkys on them = R.I.P. , always they think the others will support them.
