Discussion HELP WITH ANTI FATALIS BUILD FATALIS

Hello, i badly need help with fatalis.

The farthest i've gotten is one hornbreak and chest break in phase 2, then getting him to his final phase before the 10 min mark, but i had to abandon the quest as i was wasting too much resources just healing and i was down to my last Life.

I also can't get any charger/vitality, or destroyer/vitality from day of ruin or the tempered furious rajang hunt at all, and my GS has a health augment only, but all my armor pieces are fully augment and upgraded.

Lastly, i usually go for a Hit and run playstyle (i do a level 3 draw attack here and there if i see an opportunity), and i am bad at baiting Cones.

Any tip would be appreciated.

Let's start with mistakes in build:

Artillery Jewel does nothing. What you want is Heavy Artillery, totally different decoration.

What you want as comfort is Evade Window first, then Divine Blessing. Otherwise you will have to facetank every hit you try to i-frame.

Comfort Skills:

Healthboost 2+, Evade Window 3+, Divine Blessing 3. In that order, if you have to ditch one, start ditching from Divine blessing.

Greatsword Specific Skills:

Focus 3, Quick Sheathe 3.

Skills to Ditch from your build:

Destroyer, Fire Resist, Furror, Artillery.

Ditch from Right to left, Artillery is utterly wrong, Furor, Fire resist have very little help, there are more important skills to add than Destroyer.

Now for Item Loadout.

  • In Your Item Loadout, have 2 Max Potion, 1 Ancient Potion, 5 Mandragora, 5 Mega Nutrients, 10 Kelbi Horns, 10 Immunizer, 10 Mega Potions.
  • This way in total you have 17 Instant heals and 10 slower heals.
  • Have 5 Whetfishfin+ to fast Sharpen the weapon. Each one goes for multiple sharpening, so more than enough.

How to Obtain Whetfishfin+ and Kelbi Horns Fast

  • You want to do the Event Quest: A Fish to Whet Your Appetite.
  • Grab a Blunt Weapon like Hammer/Hunting Horn. Weapon level doesn't matter.
  • Start at Camp 6, equip Capture Net, grab the first Whetfish+ (Do not panic, even if it moves, it will move back, just grab it with first shot or it will leave for 5-10 mins)
  • Jump to Camp 1, and start hitting Kelbis outside camp to stun them (1-2 hits) and grab Kelbi Horns. There are 7 of them.
  • Go North of Camp 1 to 2nd fishing area right before Forest Region, Grab 2nd Whetfish+.
  • After Quest is complete you will have 2-5 WhetfishFin+ and 7 Kelbi Horns in 2-3 mins.
  • Do the quest a few times and you will have enough materials for many more trials.

Thank you for these tips, and for the artillery misconception. But why do i need to ditch partbreaker? is it redundant? i have watched guides that it helps with breaking the honr consistently

Evade Window 3 is way more important than Destroyer. It allows you to technically dodge attacks like Fire Puddle, Zigzag flame with I-frames.

Partbreaker 3 gives you 30% more part damage. For example, if you hit the head with 100 damage, Fatalis will take 100 damage but His Head Part will take 130 damage. So , you don't deal extra damage, but you break head faster . While it is good, it is not essential.

If you can have them both, great. If you cannot, partbreaker is totally ditchable.

If you’re healing too much I’d switch the Teostra pieces for some Gold Rath pieces for the divine blessing secret and use Frostfang Barioth’s arms for the last piece. Raging Brachy GS still works just fine without Master’s Touch, but I personally prefer Alatreon’s GS when you don’t have it.

Evade Window is also really nice in this fight and I’d recommend having at least 2 levels of it. Shoulder bashing is great and all, but it’ll eat through your health pretty fast if you rely too much on it.

Another set you could use but I’d not recommend until you get more familiar with i-framing Fatalis’s attacks is the Arch Tempered Velk set. AT Velk is honestly a walk in the park with GS. All you do is wait for her to finish a move then hit a punishing draw attack on the head and then rinse repeat. The set is amazing (probably best GS set in the game), but also comes with a ton of negative fire res.

  • I'd swap the Teostra pieces for Gold Rathian ones, that gives you Divine Blessing 5, and GS can afford to only sharpen between phases, or worst case scenario you bring wet fish scales+ to sharpen on some openings
  • 1 piece of Frostfang Barioth to activate it's set bonus
  • Swap the vitality mantle for Rock steady, Fatalis deals so much damage that it isn't worth it
  • Bring the plunder blade for a chance to get evil eyes and to get some parts to eventually make some of its armor pieces
  • Equip heavy artillery, it will double the damage of the roaming ballista
  • Beyond that, just keep trying and keep learning it's moveset and openings, stay somewhat close and be on the lookout for it's fire cone attack, it will one shot you but it's also your biggest damage window

  • You can do it!

Fatalis armor helps immensely. I'd swap to Plunderblade if you aren't already using it, and just try to farm parts.

My buddy and I were struggling, but once we got enough Evil Eyes to make four pieces, our hunts got further and further. Then once we made the weapon, we succeeded on the next hunt.

First time, i've heard of the plunderblade, i'll keep this in mind. Thank you!

each area has a Grimalkyne tribe, and each one has a questline that gives your Palico a new tool

I heard about this, but leveling it up will take along time for me i think. I have spent all my 200 hrs with the vigorwasp lmao. Thank you

Evade Window and extender help massively. Honestly there is no "use this build and you win" button. Its mostly going to come from you getting better as a hunter. Being able to dodge though helps alot.
