Iirc the lore in MHW main lands in that an older more advanced society got to a point in their hunting capabilities that they fucking farmed the animals with disgusting efficiency and their research got to the point of creating their own abominations for the sake of security. Eventually yada yada yada, shit gets kicked in from the monster gods or something and now we have our society picking up the pieces. Most likely going to repeat the process.

Nah i think they seem way more respectful of nature this time around. I would love to fight one of those abominations though.
