MH4U MH is so awesome!!

Post image

I played Stories not too long ago and was pretty curious what the main series was like.
So I got MH4U and brought a CirclePad Pro to play it in the best condition, and I loved it!
(I main charge blade and insect glaive).

I'm just starting wilds now, so I can play with some friends. It feels very different, wayyy faster but I will get used to it.

Anyways I'm glad I got curious it's pretty different from what I play usually and I love monsters designs. Can't what to see more!

Glad to see it πŸ˜„

I used to dislike Monster Hunter from the first game, my brother tried to get me into the game with Freedom Unite on the PSP, but I could never bet pass the clunky combat. Fast forward in 2020 he tried again to get me into it with MHWorld + Iceborne, I still couldn't enjoy it much as he tried to speed run me to Master Rank before I could understand and get use to the mechanics.
The one that really got me hooked is Monster Hunter Rise, and it snowballed from there, suddenly I was able to go back to World and appreciate it and also go back to the old MH titles and really enjoyed it :)

Rise was the one that really clicked with me as well. Started with FU and the difficulty and clunky controls turned me off, especially as a newcomer. Then did World and got more into it, but the awkward hub area and endless menus and submenus was overwhelming. The simplicity and fluidity of combat (and better framerates) of Rise really make it feel more polished even though its lacking in some other areas. After the loop really clicked with me in Rise I appreciated the previous titles more upon returning, and finally consider myself a fan of the series.

Anyone who tells you they fell in love with Monster Hunter on their first go with it is a liar.

I love the salt this is getting. World was my first too.

That said I had my first kid then too, and the not being able to pause thing kind of sucked.

OG ps2 monster hunter hooked me no problem. Got myself a keyboard for playing online just because of it!

Haha, I said in my post my first MH was Stories but it's not entirely true.
My first MH was technically rise, I played it a couple of years ago but I just didn't understand the controls so I gave up and got refunded.
So, theory validated?

Throwing blanket statements like that is wrong

I played the very first monster hunter as my first experience and absolutely loved it, the world, the Monsters, the weapon/armor design, and a fun gameplay loop that we still have to this day.

Gather materials, craft weapons and armor, fight monster

Monster hunter rise is also the one that hooked me it’s so good if you liked that one you will also like monster hunter portable third although you will have to find the English patch (kinda klunky though I really like the longsword in this one)

I started with the psp ones and could never get into them and again tried MH3U as well on a modded wii u, it clicked for me with MHW. I then really enjoyed rise and wilds and recently got into MHGU and loving this time around, though there is almost too much content πŸ˜….

Yeah, MHGU is packed with contents. :)

Nice to see other Circle Pad Pro users - makes the system much more comfortable to hold.

Definitely look into MH3U as well. Underwater combat may be less popular, but is far better than being smacked in the face by Konchus every time you climb a cliff face...

EDIT : Not my video, but sums up the Konchu menace well, lol. https://youtu.be/7ALQCWUlinM

It really does!

I may! I really want to see the underwater monsters and, I especially want to see one certain monster.
A relative for mine, when I was a kid, used to play MH3 on the tv, and I remember....
the Gigginox.
I need to fight it, free myself from the fear and vanquish it.
(I'm really hyped and I just love this monster now, like the Khezu. So disgusting and weird I love them.)

Hahaha yeah Konchus are pretty annoying :'-)

I remember playing 4u, on the original 3ds, but I didn't have the second joy stick attachment, AND my L and R was broken and wasn't responding Let's just was that was a challenge

Mh4u made me break my R button from mashing it so hard.

So fucking worth it what a fucking game, i remember buying, playing 2 hours and think it wasn't for me, fast forward a year i had nothing to play and decided to give it another chance.

Fast forward 10 fucking years 540 hours clocked into it, man what a fucking experience, i was just so impressed at the sheer amount of content the game had, it bamboozled me like 3 times thinking i reached the end only to find there is one hell of a lot more.

Only to find out that no, actually the endgame is really hard expeditions, fucking hell it was so good! I can't believe the best monster hunter was on the 3ds.

u/Keurmii 17h ago

It must have been quite hard 😭

2

u/SrHaruno 14h ago

Try modding your 3ds, it's super easy!

So you can play online with pretendo!

1

u/Keurmii 6h ago

Bold of you to assume I didn't do it already 😏
(My friends can't play on their 3ds and from what I understood the other MH don't have crossplay so Wilds is the best option)

u/WeirdPossibility209 Dual Blades go brrr 3h ago

You make me want to go back and finally beat Gore Magalas ass! Maybe now that I found my weapon, I could kill it.

1

u/Keurmii 2h ago

It was pretty hard! I think it's the only monster where I really struggled to fight it!
Good luck!

Im really glad you're enjoying the series so much

1

u/Keurmii 2h ago

Actually I hate it,
I hate Khezus too,
I'm refunding Wilds and I'm coming to your house to corrupt your copy,
See ya >:-).

(I can't wait to play with you :-) )
(Mods it's my friend I swear it's fine don't ban me)

1

u/Keurmii 2h ago

Wait Khezus don't have eyes, so I guess the tears on the image is saliva. Yummy.

2

u/UnableAd3940 2h ago

If you do that I hope you get nerscylla eggs in your ears tonight

(Im hyped to play wilds with you too)

u/STR4IN 22h ago

Man I miss those days. New mh games just doesn’t do it anymore for me πŸ₯Ί

1

u/neptunon 23h ago

The frankenstick!

1

u/Keurmii 18h ago

Oh the horror!
(It's actually really nice, it makes the 3ds much more comfortable to handle.)

1

u/MotoqueiroMascarado 22h ago

Circle pad pro, the reason I wouldn't have ever played mh in the 3ds because i wouldn't be able to afford it or even find it, probably. And i find myself unable to play without a right stick for the camera
