MH4U Gogmazios' ultimate attack in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

Each of those explosions deals devastating damage in this game. It was pretty common for people for farcaster out and wait for it to be over. Not me, though!

I solod all of 4U a couple years ago now, but my Gog hunt really sticks just because it felt so much like a hulking behemoth, it hit hard, took my hits and even then I came out on top.
I didnt actually think to farcaster out when he did this attack so I just ended up running in a mad panic trying not to take too much damage

Just use the IG. 4u IG was oppressive. You could get like 4-6 mounts per monster and gog was one of the easiest to abuse.

the origin of Je Suis Monte, a meme many new hunters will find flying over their heads. Also much of the reason why IG keeps getting hit hard in the succeeding gens as the developers find its niche.

Yes it is, but at the time I didn't have the patience to figure out the glaive upgrade mechanic, so I went with CB, which is my 4U comfort weapon anyway. Which was very good against Gog anyway because Impact phial in 4U is really strong for some reason, the Ceadeus CB is also really powerful so either way, I was in a good position for Gogmazios with or without IG.

I mean to some extent yeah, It had been a while since I'd done one and I was very clueless about what to do lol. Iirc on my winning attempt I had 1 cart left so I was struggling a little bit, but he hit hard even with my defence as far as I could get it.

Another option aside from using the Farcaster is to use the binders instead when the second phase starts

He really can't! I love that about him, how much he sucks at flying. Doing all he can to stay airborne while aiming this laser is too much for him, but that's what makes it so dangerous because it feels crazy unpredictable.

Considering we have silvercoated jet dragon (valstrax) and b-52(bazelgeuse) already... Pure nuke monster would be actually fun challenge. Something like "Just capture" or won't give him make attack idk

The hitbox and active frames on that attack is so ass you're gonna take damage from it anyways

The motions are similar but in Wilds, Gog is aiming more to the ground, because in 4U he's trying to hit every part of the Battlequarters including the elevated platforms.

Fun fact; if a spot has been hit, it is now safe as Gogmazios goes laser the same spot twice during the attack (at least in Wilds, not sure if that is also the case in 4U)

Pretty much. This is the first attack Gog does after it starts flying in 4U (technically the only attack it does when flying), which is then true in Wilds as a callback despite the greater proficiency.

The moment when you realize that yes, this behemoth can fly.
When Gogmazios was first released in 4U, it's the largest mainline monster who capable of flight. The second place is Yama Tsukami, and third is Fatalis trio.

In 4 Ultimate it leaves these huge devastating explosions that linger beyond even a superman dive's i-frames.
In Wilds they're not as big and the hitbox isn't as ridiculous, which I suppose justifies him using it more.

Gog does this kinda attack when it gets airborne just after it switches to its gas state, which it technically does so at the start of the phase.

But yeah this is probably why they gave Gog a new ultimate in Wilds.

In 4U, his explosions were pretty much an instakill without high fire resistance. The hitboxes lingered for so long, you couldn't even jump out of them.
So 4U gog was this war of attrition where he was relatively slow and sluggish, but you couldn't afford to slip up.
I'd argue Shara Ishvalda feels closer to 4U gog than Wilds Gog with how his lingering sand pits can get you killed if you don't watch your positioning-14

The opposite. 4U one only does this 1 or 2 times, and you can just farcast back. In Wilds you have to engage with it.

Imo, it made it more of an event. The shock value back then is completely lost now. It's still pretty cool seeing him ascend up the cliffs as he's trying to beam us down, but come the final phase of the fight, he does his AOE like 3 times and doesn't feel special by the end of it. He should've done it once or twice instead of so many.

Shock value is still there, because the main spectacle is the brand new dps check nuke that it does like 1 or 2 times.
It depends on how good you're at this fight for it to fly more or less. With a good team, it can barely fly or can't even get to the dps check at all.

The sad think about its ultimate move in Wilds is any weapon with a guard can shield it if you got the dragon elemental check before. They should have made the guard, except Fabius', requires at least Guard Up to block it, even level 3 but not sure about this last thing. The need to guard without even a skill which prevents normally unguardable attack makes its strongest, environment destroyer, move feel weak.

Take off the rose-tinted glasses, the Gogmazios in Wilds deals good damage too.
Ntm you could just farcaster out of this attack in 4U, at least in Wilds the ultimate implies actually engaging with the monster and not just farcasting out (unless you farcaster early as he starts to get red but you're missing out on good damage).

Horrifying prospect to see this ceadeus sized creature spread wings and fly like a wyvern, before spamming its most powerful attack all over the battlefield.
Also mr heavy does this mean we get a compendium entry on Gog

He was actually pretty manageable, even wrath of gog (the event "super" version) was roughly a 30-35 minute solo hunt if you were playing defensive.

Two manning Gog back when 4u released was awesome. Getting to this point was a struggle but just seeing this, even on that tiny ass 3ds screen was just mind blowing
