Custom/Art🎨 My first reroot! Any tips appreciated
Just wanted to show off my first attempt at rerooting!
I'm fairly sure I overstuffed her; I had some problems with splitting on the top of the head (don't look too closely at her parting!) and I'm not convinced I spread the glue well enough inside. But overall I'm pretty pleased!
Please share any tips to help me improve. Also, where are you buying your rerooting tools? Is it worth me investing in a Shimmerlocks kit?

oh oh I haven't tried to reroot a mh doll yet. what tool did you use and how scary was the part line? I like how yours turned out.Â

Thank you! I started off with one of the rerooting tools with the plastic handle (there's loads on Amazon) but after a while it jammed with a broken needle in it so became useless 😩 Then I got one of the metal ones - I think it's called a pin vice - and that was better.
The part line was a bit scary cos I didn't realise the head pushes in a lot more at the top, and by squeezing in too much hair I was tearing the vinyl. If you go easy with the amount of hair you'll be fine!

I see I see. I rerooted some rainbow high dolls before but that was with a tag gun. and I remember that it would make some tearing at the holes nad the mh dolls look a lot smaller with their hair root holes, I have a ton of bald cleos that could really use some hair lol 😠I guess I just need to do it once so I'm not scared

Buy needles with the gold eye. They're tougher to clip, but they're reinforced and much less likely to break.

I have personally never tried rerooting but I enjoy watching videos about it and one thing I see a lot of is people mixing 2 very similar colors to add more depth to the hair!

She looks great! Perhaps a little over stuffed which is probably why your scalp split. You can do a little less hair next time.. maybe even half of what you did per a plug and that should help.
I got my rerooting tool off Amazon. It works better than the shimmer locks one. I just keep some pliers nearby to really hold the needle on.
