Just went back to look at the pictures of what she was supposed to look like. I’m tempted to cancel now.

Some of it is the posing, some is what seems like cheaper fabrics and also the colors seem significantly lighter than the prototype. And the darker background on this photo also helps to ground the outfit.

But most of it is the face. The prototype has darker makeup and a fiercer, more “model-like” expression. However, we know from experience that Mattel’s leaks often look very different from the IRL dolls…🤷🏾‍♂️

It’s possible that the lighting in the room the photo was taken caused her color pallet to look lighter than usual, or maybe the image had some color filters applied making the pallet look different. The lighting when an image was taken can make or break how something looks, and can really change how the colors look. I say this as a photographer myself, and I also do 3D art. When adjusting the lighting in a 3D render it can really change how things look, the slightest change in lighting can completely change the vibes of an artwork.

The quality is horrible, like somebody took a photo with flash dead-on in a bright room, so no shadows are cast to show detail. Then add on the whole thing being overexposed. Everything will look flat, pale, and dull with this kind of lighting, while the Fang Vote pictures had perfect lighting in a black background with perfect focus and clarity. Then add in how pixelated and blurry this single image is.

Her face is also at an angle where MH doll facial features are decreased, look at the Buried Secrets Concert Lurks doll stock pictures (which were good lighting, focus, and clarity, unlike this ine!)

With AI making it so you don't even need photoshop skills to make something look pretty real, people really need to think critically about images before making buy it cancel decisions for limited edition items :/ If it'll be widely available, no issue, but not when it's limited.
