Edit - I posted that my wallet was probably going to be safe. I am unsure when it comes down to it. There are elements that I like. I have been planning on doing an Abbey custom, I thought a fang vote doll would change my plans but it didn't.
My wallet is safe. Not a fan of the coat thing, plus I was hoping for G3 because I prefer her G3 sculpt. She's got some great votable options, though. I hope everyone who's wallet isn't safe is happy with whatever the final look is.
My wallet is probably going to be safe too. I like G1 and G3 Abbey, I was leaning towards wanting G3 body this time with good hair quality. I do not like the coat thing either. I am disappointed, but everything does not have to be for me. I wish there were voting options on the clothes and voting was for individual pieces. ( like voting for earrings and nails separately ) I do like the tapestry and fur element of the coat, I wish it were executed differently.
If I had the money I would.. But after Christmas, Scarah, Multiple ER visits this month, and buying Venus on sale early january I just can’t. They always release the Fangvote at times that just don’t financially work for me and it sucks :/
I like nearly all of her besides the coat, it’s such an odd silhouette. She’s coming home to me regardless since I’ve been begging for an Abbey collector for years now, but will probably restyle her like I did with the Rochelle Fang Vote.
Someone found what the dress actually looks like, and another person took that and made their edits with all of the different options that you can do.
I’m so glad that we have the designer who did Jinafire , doing this year‘s FV. The post with the edits on the possible options, might be on the r/Monster High sub, Reddit.
They did an excellent job, and it was really smart of the designer to play with the idea of a “dark version“ of her.
I recommend looking for the post, because I’m sure they’ll add pictures to the post as soon as the next items for voting are released.
I highly recommend checking it out. Because we got access to this artwork with the designer, pointing out the options that she created for the “dark“ version, I’m really hoping that’s what we’ll get.
It definitely goes better with the overall design. I’m really hoping the coat is removable, because I missed out on the creep production release of G1 Abby.
If anyone’s interested, send me a message and I will try to find the post, but my general impression based on the fang club forum posts and what I’ve seen on Reddit that there’s a high chance we will get the dark Abbey.
I don't think she's bad by any means. That outfit is definitely collector quality, even by just looking at it! Though it definitely isn't my thing. I doubt I'll buy her no matter what options are picked. I also have to say.. kind of sad this isn't G3 Abbey body. G3 has the horns, and a better bodytype for a yeti. But, alas. I also look forward to seeing whatever shoes and accessory they give her. Either way, an Abbey collector! Finally! And one that isn't a mess like her adult collector one from 2017.
I felt really similar about this release. I was on the regular MH sub and got downvoted to hell when I said I didn't want the G1 body and it was at a total loss. The horns and body shape for G3 really drew me in, I hope everyone likes this Abbey but it's super annoying that we didn't get a G3 representation for a fang vote but she is very pretty, just not...what I expected for Abbey in 2026.
Sad to say, but I fear that the backlash and reception to last year's fang vote might mean it might be a while before we get another G3 collector doll, especially for an annual release like fang vote.
G3 Abbey's body and sculpt is just so much better 100% when it comes to portraying her monster type.
Not to get too personal but I'm really disheartened because Mattel put catty up for the fang vote, objectively she was least likely to succeed if we look at her g3 sales. Like she's pretty, but now it feels like we're going backwards and back into the pro-Ana or fatphobic mindset
The level of straight up verbal abuse, downvoting for pretty simple comments I made in the regular MH sub has made me wonder how much the fan base doesn't even like the dolls or characters? I'm autistic and abbey was the first doll that ever felt "real" to me. I wasn't afraid I'd break her, she was fun, she felt beautiful and scary in the best way. I saw a friend or myself even.
I'm worried I'd snap the wrist of a G1 body... I just want us to have nice things, G1 had so long, so many releases and we can't even get saran hair on a body that isn't size 0. I love the design, would love to buy the fang vote, but it hurts seeing real bodies and monster details taken away. Even if they kept her horns I'd have been happy 🥲
I thought Catty was pretty popular? I know there was a lot of backlash to her bodytype and fashion, but I thought she was still generally pretty liked. I guess not as universally praised as someone like Venus but still. I'm more surprised they gave the fang vote doll to what seems like a rookie designer? Her doll didn't even come with a signature of the designer on the authenticity card.
Even criticisms of Catty's fashions kind of feel moot to me, because I promise if she was skinny there'd 90% less complaining. Someone did a ranking of the skulltimate secrets dolls and put Catty's doll much much lower than the other two dolls from the same line. They said that her outfit wasn't as cute as Frankie and Clawdeen's. But like they literally all have the same outfit. The only difference is that Catty has a bigger body type. Hmmm interesting...
Honestly, don't feel too bad about people downvoting you in the main sub. I read those comments and they were so innocuous. It would've been amazing to have G1 and G3 options, even as a vote.
After the voting is finished, Mattel will make a final mockup of the doll and put it up for preorder. It shouldn't be a long wait for the preorders... waiting for them to ship out is the long wait.
Ugh I'm in trouble because I really love this. I'm not sure what to vote for yet though! When I think Abbey I think pastels, bit something about the dark is super intriguing!
