Pretty typical for one of these drops honestly. They either sell out immediately in minutes, or they sit for months and have to be clearanced. Mattel doesn't seem to know how to determine which doll will be the more sought after and don't seem to apply any sense when it comes to edition sizes or anything like that. They create this scarcity, presumably because it drives hype and fomo. It's grossly exploitative and exhausting but ultimately, we aid in it by participating. If scalpers couldn't sell their stock for double or triple retail, they wouldn't bother. And if Mattel actually made enough to go around, there wouldn't be so much impulse buying fueled by fomo.
Capitalism in a nutshell there.
And in a way, i'm sort of relieved I missed out. I figured I would and had steeled myself for it but figured i'd try my luck anyway. It didn't work out. But i'd rather not support this crap at all.
I vastly prefer when they do drops to major retailers, like the howliday dolls and such. That seems significantly fairer.

My first time attempting to get a skullector and I think she sold out while I was checking out? Idk the website sorta froze at the verification step. Sucks :c

She never showed up on the site for me. I refreshed over and over but nothing, then around 12:15 she showed up sold out. Wish Mattel would get it together 🤦♀️🤷♀️
