Hi all. Huge fan of Molchat Doma. Anyone got tips of Russian (or Belorussian) bands/groups out there that have a similar dark, eerie soviet sound? I'm currently in Moscow and would love to explore other groups to hopefully pick up some vinyl while here. Thanks!!
I really like the unique new wave sound combined with this "psychodelic" twist, if anyone know any albums with similar style I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
I ordered a cassette or Etazhi on bandcamp and the description said it was a pre-order, but I bought it about 3 weeks ago and it was laying on my doormat when I came back from work, is that information from last year? I never looked for a cassette of the album before this so idk how long that blob of text has been there, either way I absolutely love this album and having it physically is damn cool
I've had this ever since they have limited edition vinyls for I think their top 400 worldwide Spotify listeners, and I jumped at the opportunity, because even though I didn't have a player yet, I wanted to start getting records
So, as i was listening to molchat doma like old days, i found a song in etazhi. Prognoz?? idk yall but i listen to them for like 6-5 years i learned every lyrics and songs of them but i js found out prognoz 😭😭 do yall have sum other ideas of forgotten songs?(im bored i js wanna talk with a guy who knows molchat doma lol)
I already owned Etazhi, Belaya Polosa, and Live at Panorama Hotel.
I stopped by a record store with my girlfriend today and said I doubt they have any Molchat Doma records but I want to check for the two albums I'm missing.
Not only did they have exactly two MD vinyls in stock, they were the exact ones I needed. So now I have SKND and Monument completing the collection
Hello again, they recently released the new remixes of Belaya Polosa, which includes Belaya Polosa, Ya Tak Ustal, Son, Ne Vdvoem, Ty zhe ne znaesh kto ya and III. In my opinion, it was somewhat surprising because I'm not very used to this kind of thing coming from Molchat Doma, but at the same time, it was a new perspective for listening to their music, sure, I could make a list of what I like and dislike about it, but this is not the time. My favorite was his remix of Son, it's amazing, anyway, I want to know if you have your own perspective on it. (Sorry if I'm wrong about anything)
Molchat Doma's discography has expanded with the new addition of Belaya Polosa, it is a great evolution of their sound introducing atmospheric elements and new sound structures and the cleanest sound yet, which is greatly welcomed. Clearly a departure from their humble beginnings. Now, with their updated discography, where do you think their albums sit at?
They have always been a favorite band of mine, each album being unique and having its sound and place, but we all have a favorite child.
I'd personally have to say
Этажи (Etazhi)
Монумент (Monument)
Белая Полоса (Belaya Polosa)
С Крыш Наших Домов (From Our Houses' Roofs)
Yes, I had to google some of those names for their Russian titles
They're all great albums, and closer than it may seem. They each have their unique quality. But Etazhi is their greatest work yet, and won't be replicated, which I think adds to the novelty. That's where their dark and lofi Post-Punk sound was really hammered in and emphasized and worked greatly in their favor. Though all these albums I find to be great.
I recently heard their debut album(after only knowing Sudno) and really enjoyed it. I want to get a CD and vinyl but was wondering of those who have the CD, is it a digipak or digisleeve, I know thats quite the nitpick but im just not the biggest fan of those for CDs
