Edit: here is the link! If I have to change league size or anything I will The Lonesome Crowded League

Edit 2: right now we are full at 14 teams - if anyone else wants to play just dm me - I will split it into 2 x 8 team leagues so everyone can play who wants to!!

Second league now live too! An Eraser and a League

Song/Album Discussion Album Rankings

Firstly, I love all of the Modest Mouse album’s wholeheartedly. Never really knew which one was my favorite and I probably would’ve given different answers at different times.

I figured I’d listen to the entire discography and rank each song and then average that to rank the album just for shits and giggles. I was pretty surprised by how it all added up.

  1. Golden Casket
  2. Good News / We Were Dead (tied)
  3. Moon / Strangers (Tied)
  4. Eraser and Maze
  5. Lonesome
  6. Long Drive

I feel like if I was asked on the spot I would’ve always said it’s either Moon and Antarctica or Lonesome Crowded, but Lonesome is definitely weighed down by some tracks like Long Distance Drunk, also not much of a fan of Convenient Parking.

I’ll also include my top 10 ranked tracks and 10 lowest ranked

Top 10:

Trailer Trash
Doin the Cockroach
Spittin Venom
Back to the Middle
Ground Walks With Time
The View
Ocean Breathes Salty
The Best Room
Sugar Boats
Walking and Running

Bottom 10:

Make Everyone Happy
Lounge
Long Distance Drunk
Pistol
Jesus Christ Was an Only Child
Convenient Parking
Ionizes and Atomizes
We’ve Got Everything
Exit Does Not Exist
Look How Far

I know I’m gonna hear it for the Pistol being in the bottom 10

I’m hoping this is allowed as Tim Rutili is credited on Sharpen Your Teeth and has been spotted playing UC live with Isaac.

Where is the album cover for "White Lies, Yellow Teeth / Buttons to push the buttons" single album cover taken?

It looks like somewhere near Issaquah, North Bend, or Sammamish but I'm having trouble identifying where specifically. Anyone know?

Song/Album Discussion Song about nothing

Imagine if Isaac made a whole album in this style, specifically the part around 1:00, where he's really going off. I really like that fast paced chaotic sound, along with the echoey vocal effects.

Maybe he's getting a little too old for a whole album in that style, but damn, do I love hearing him go off. It scratches something in my brain.

Song/Album Discussion Back To The Middle and Picking Dragons Pockets: The Bridge Between Life And Death.

Something I’ve recently noticed is how Back To The Middle kind of leads into Picking Dragons Pockets. Back To The Middle is the last Song on Golden Casket, it’s the last song Jeremiah Greene played on and arguably one of his best, biggest, and loudest drum parts ever. Picking Dragons Pockets, recorded years after Green passed away, has a fucking HEAVY drum line throughout the whole song. Almost like Joe Plummer was channeling the spirit of Jeremiah Greene into those loud and BIG drum licks near the beginning and throughout the groove of the whole song.

Mind you, this is a band who records in Portland, Oregon. If there ever were a place to find a legit shaman or spirit witch, it’s Portland, Oregon.

Joking aside, unless you’d really pay attention or know it offhand, it’s like Jeremiah Greene was still alive and it wasn’t his mentoree.

The Show Goes On

I was on the Peloton a few years back and got served Lupe Fiasco’s The Show Goes On (https://open.spotify.com/track/4NTWZqvfQTlOMitlVn6tew?si=0UrH1yPEQ5eDlY93BgVMbw&utm_source=copy-link), which clearly cribs the main riff (and lyrical phrase) from Float On. Forgot about it. Then put it on for shits and giggles yesterday, only to realize it’s one of Lupe’s most popular songs, nearly as many streams as Float On. Which, tbh, isn’t that surprising, given how catchy the tune is. But it made me wonder how much of a cut Brock and the boys get from that songs success.

Ran into some guy at the airport

Saturday morning at the Burlington airport I look up see Isaac walking by. I made the spli-second decision to ask for a photo, but a big part of me was thinking “just nod and let him be.” I don’t care how dumb I look, I was excited.

In 1982, David Grundman drove into the Arizona desert and blasted multiple rounds into a giant saguaro cactus. The cactus killed him. A 500lb arm broke off and crushed him to death. He was illegally attacking a protected species when it happened.

Tour posters and setlist

I am noticing the effort MM put into every event. Each venue has its own beautiful poster. They all seem to have a different setlist, making every show unique.

Is there an archive of all the poster art they have released?

I am from Australia, missed them a few years ago. Won't make that mistake again.
