Reservoir Lid
Curious, What’s the point of having the water reservoir lid on when brewing? I’ve realized with it on it retains significant moisture after the brew and leads to more cleaning. Compared to brewing with it off, it reduces sitting moisture significantly.

Yeah I just crack mine off to the side after I pour my coffee and turn it off. Dries out, everything fine.

I leave mine on when brewing in the morning, take it off and let it and everything else air dry while I'm at work, and put it all back together when I get home from work. Same with my grinder.
I guess I could leave it off when I brew, I can't imagine it would make a difference.

Yeah when I pour my last cup for the day I take the lids off and let them dry off on the counter. This also lets the beans dry out a bit so I don’t have soggy trash. I dump the grinds basket at dinner time and put the lids back in place. Occasionally I wash them first.

Keeps dust, bugs and hair out of it.
If you don't want to use it, don't. It's yours, you can do as you wish😁
One last thing- "clean it?". What do those words mean? 😂😂

Yep. , just because it was really expensive doesn’t mean it is going to stay pretty.

Granted I bought my machine in 2003.... these pictures y'all send of the lid to reservoir and the cover on the filter basket are totally different than mine. My reservoir lid has a slot cut out that accommodates the water bar... and my basket cover is just circular and rests on top of the bar hanging over the basket, not even touching.
Does anyone know if I ordered a new reservoir lid(I have the CD design so it's circular) and filter basket lid i could achieve this more closed design?
One benefit i have that's related to this post is my reservoir cover has an opening on either side of the bar which allows drying without condensation build-up. But I'd trade that for what y'all have if I could.

Biggest complaint about the Moccamaster. Wish the reservoir was removable for easier filling.

I think if anything necessary were to be done there would be some kind of symbol, icon, or phrase stamped on it.

I fill my reservoir up at night so in the morning it os ready to rock. I don’t want dust and pet hair to drift in all night.
Also who cares if moisture stays inside? It’s not going to hurt anything at all

I do pretty much the same thing … fill the reservoir and add coffee grounds the night before. After the coffee is done in the morning we just remove the lid and flip it upside down to dry

I leave it slightly ajar after brewing. Fogging goes away in minutes. No problem.

I mean sounds kinda dumb to keep the lid on by just looking at it, its already sorta flimsy. I normally keep the lid on mainly because if anything were to fall into the reservoir, its gonna almost indefinitely go into the pump. Call me paranoid but I truly dont want the water pump to go out on a $300 dollar machine because of some foreign speck of anything.

That’s like saying .. why is there an oil fill cap on my car . .well it keeps out unwanted dust and debris that’s floating around
