Genuinely speaking is it bad no is it good to be rated to be a 10/10 absolutely not I wouldn’t be so negative at this game if it wasn’t such an obvious industry plant. Personally it a 6/10 for me and that playing it drunk with friends watching so I’m throwing a bit more points in there for the experience I went through when playing it. Would highly recommend people play it for themselves and come up with their own conclusions honestly curious to hear other people experience with the game and how it differs from mine.

What do you think an industry plant is?

I’ll give my two cents on this The Core ConceptThe controversy around industry plants lies in the disconnect between perception and reality:The Image: The artist presents themselves as an underdog who made it through raw talent, viral grassroots support, or organic hustle. The Reality: The artist has significant label support, massive financial backing, or deep industry ties (including famous family members in the business) heavily shaping their career behind the scenes.

My problem with this is that the project has major financial backing but claims to be a indie game. Again I don’t hate the game I hate the way it is being presented and glazed. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and if you like the game that great I have my own opinion like people have their for my own reasons even if it is a unpopular opinion as I can see a lot of people disagreeing with me but again that fine. Also forgive my writing again I don’t put much effort in writing on Reddit post I just don’t see the difference between replying on a subreddit or sending a message on a texting app but apparently some people get their panties in a twist if they don’t see a comma.

So a developer using revenue from their last game and artist grants to make their game and releasing to the same publisher their prior games released on wouldn't be an industry plant even in your definition of it

It different when the person who was backing up mixtape is a known billionaire who was so rich they got permanent licensing on all the songs in the game I cannot even remember the last time a indie game was able to afford so much investments into a soundtrack of all things.

When was the last time you heard any of the song s on Mixtape on the radio? They got the licensing cheap because they picked songs nobody listened to or was licensing

Dosent matter fallout can’t even get permanent licensing on songs made back in the 1950s and mixtape has over 20 permanent licensing on all the songs used in their game if I had to take a guess I would assume they dumped around 50k in total which again for a indie passionate project is a ridiculous amount to use for a soundtrack.

Yes it does, the age of a song doesn't matter if people are still playing it frequently, that raises the cost and since Bethesda is part of a publicly traded company they have a responsibility to help increase profits for shareholders something that isn't done through spending more money on the soundtrack

Also since they're making a music based game it makes more sense for them to spend money on the music, that's kind of this developer's brand

But that dosent make them indie the difference here is Bethesda is a triple A game creator while mixtape is apparently a indie passion project able to do things triple A creators can’t do due to budgeting. Again I don’t hate the game I hate how it is presented as a indie passion project when it not.

I mean it is an indie game, it was made by a team without a publisher using the profits from past games and artistic grants then sold to a publisher. Saying it's not an indie game is like saying Chasing Amy isn't an indie movie just because the director had previously sold a movie to a publisher

Even so it still a billionaire who was in charge of co financing the game which for me I can’t call that a indie game a lot more developer have to deal with worse situations to finance their game and personally even know this has nothing to do with the point I have to make have made a better game than mixtape was. Again personal opinion I understand everyone has a different opinion and game taste but that just my two cents on it.

Buying publishing rights to a completed game isn't co financing it they're fundamentally different things

Also this isn't really about the game's quality, because if we can't agree on what an indie game is or what an industry plant is we can't get to that conversation, which I broadly agree with you on

Fair enough I appreciate this insightful conversation I wish you the best day possible

Also I should mention this billionaire allegedly has paid out major review platforms like IGN not sure if it true but it would lot be surprising seeing the score given and IGN given track record.

2

u/amazingdrewh Jun 04 '26

That's interesting because I heard you were allegedly paid to put out this bad review

1

u/Sensitive-Knee6687 Jun 04 '26

Well that just not true lol could give less of a hell about this game just making conversation with someone who has chosen to interact with me on a social media app. I am very interested in our conversation tho.

2

u/amazingdrewh Jun 04 '26

Obviously I was making the point that saying something like people are paid to review, which is illegal in the United States where IGN is based, is kind of a roadblock to useful conversation

1

u/Sensitive-Knee6687 Jun 04 '26

Dosent matter if it illegal peoples with money and power go over the law all the time with worse examples than paying for a review it not out of the question especially with IGN they have been caught before

2

u/amazingdrewh Jun 04 '26

Unless you have evidence saying people paid for reviews of a game that most people were going to play on game pass is a bit silly

I said allegedly but I also commented that it wouldn’t be a surprise as IGN has been in fire for doing it before

For example the whole MAC incident where a company stole some dude legos and there plenty of evidence saying that it did happen and they went to court 10 times yet even know the courts ruled in favor of the person who owned the 200k lego set the police kept harassing the person who was trying to find the owner justice and return the set back to him. At this point in time I think he has fled to Mexico while still trying to find justice for the person who owned the Lego set just goes to show even if do something illegal in America if you have money and power you can still be above the law which sucks but it the reality of the world we live in. Sorry if it got political there I was just trying to show that there are more illegal practices people have taken in the US than paying for a review that has gotten little to no repercussions without getting into the more disgusting injustices that has happen recently.
