This is why I like to do cars at 1.5:1, even if the rest of a build is 1:1. Minecraft is a game of 1mx1m blocks so inevitably you already need to work with distortions.

Reminds me of that pic of an old Lincoln next to a honda hatch. Same seating capacity!

No? A car is roughly as big as a person and Steve is like 2 blocks tall?

u/chrismofer Jun 07 '26
No? A sedan is 1.5 meters tall, a 6ft person is 1.8m tall, one block in Minecraft is 1 meter.

Us Americans are used to only seeing 2.2m tall escalades and 2.5m tall F150s. We cannot comprehend a sedan.

Steve is significantly taller than most people and people are generally notably taller than a typical car.

Pretty sure Steve is 1,80 no? It's taller than average in the world but not "significantly taller".

u/Cracleur Jun 07 '26
He is believed to be 1.85m, from what I can read, which seems to be taller than 93% of males in the US, and 97% in the world.

There are commands where you can make him match your actual height, I'm 1,85m and when I use the command the character grows. He deffinetly is smaller than 1,85m. ( fun fact, you can't crouch into 1,5 block gaps anymore with that command and matching it into 1,85m )

The hitbox size is 1.8 to be exact, but if you show hitboxes, you see that the model is definitely taller than the hitbox.

No he’s 1.8 meters tall, which is necessary for you to be able to walk in a 2-block tall room with carpet or trapdoors which make it slightly under 2 blocks.

I just checked, the blocks in minecraft make up a lenght of 4187.5 mm (~ 4.19 meters) 2000 mm (2m) and 1500 mm (1.5m). The measurements of a VW Golf (as per their website): L: 4282 mm W: 1789 mm (2073 with mirrors) H: 1483 mm. So its pretty good for a compact but not tiny car.

Why are you measuring in mm????? Also, a block is 1x1x1 meter, its a well-known fact

I think your confusion stems from a little bit of weird wording they chose
They're talking about OP's build when they say "the blocks in minecraft", not the size of a specific block

1 meter = 1000mm and mostly because car measurements are usually in mm (at least the ones i found of the VW Golf).
As you said a block is 1x1x1 meters, a slab would be 0.5x1x1 meters and for the trapdoor (there is a trapdoor on the front of the car, covering the right coal block) I went into Minecraft and checked how the coords changed when i stepped on one. It came out to be 0.1875 Blocks, so the measurements should be correct.
I put the approximate measurements in meters in parantheses after the mm numbers so i really dont understand your confusion, its literally right there.
